EVERYTHING!  I finally visited Dr. Marks. I was opposed to additional pain meds and he agreed. He was sympathetic, focused, and committed to reduce my pain. The injections were quick and smooth (not going to say painless because that would be lying) but if you can't have it a little pain, they have the option for a local and aesthetic. The only way I can do that is with the help from Pain and Wellness Institute in Spring Branch. The quality of their care and knowledge exceeds my expectations, for which I am thankful. The girls at the front desk always welcome me with a smile. The traffic was so awful yesterday that I called, letting them know I would be 10 minutes late. Yet, I was still greeted with smiling faces.. i truly can not say enough about how much I appreciate Pain and Wellness Institute. Their knowledge, professionalism, and genuine warmth make my life easier as I deal with this horrendous condition. Very rare to find any doctors who understand. I know that because before I found them, we had run the gamit in trying to find neurologists and doctors who had exceptional knowledge of this condition. All to no avail. I literally had one neurologist in New York and Denver to consult. I had a wonderful Neurologist in Dallas who we made the trip to see each time because he was just that good. He suddenly died one weekend and it broke my heart, not to mention all of his patients who were left to find adequate help. When I asked if his partners could help me, or refer me to someone who was familiar with my condition, they admitted they could not help, and did not know another neurologist with the knowledge to help me. I actually was thankful for their honesty, as I had wasted a lot of time going to neurologists who pretended to know about Syringomyelia. So, with that said, I applaud Dr. Lai's Pain and Wellness Institute because it is a relief to be their patient. I will add that any MS patients would probably be able to receive help from Dr. Lai, as there are many similarities with my condition. So I decided to do the stem cell "treatment" once for four thousand dollars, where they put you under. Then I waited months before I could really do anything besides walk. My checkups reflected that my knee condition actually got worse from the treatment. That was after a year of staying low (not being active), hoping that it was healing. They did not say what I could and couldn't do, just very general statements. I would not recommend this procedure as it was wasted time and money. The doctor would not talk to me after the procedure, only his assistants.

I came to her after a car accident and a disappointing experience with another neurologist who dismissed my symptoms as anxiety and refused to order imaging. Dr. Wingrove did thorough in-office testing, saw red flags for spinal cord damage, and ordered the imaging that confirmed severe compression in my cervical spine. Her care quite literally changed the course of my health. I needed surgery, and without her, the condition would have gone undiagnosed and worsened. She's also responsive via the patient portal and open-minded to different treatment options.
