Toward the end of the cut some manger comes up to me named Trevor, tells me if Pedro even touches my beard with clippers that my haircut will go from 50.00 to 100.00. I didn't want hot towel, shampoo products or anything. I tried explaining to Trevor I just wanted Pedro to hit my sides with a buzzer to make the haircut look complete. He didn't care, said "that's not the way we do things around here." I get that Trevor has a job to do, but man you don't have to be so abrasive. Also I'm not spending an extra 50.00 for a 2 min pass with a buzzer. I have been looking for new barbers and could have been an awesome return customer, but b/c of Trevor I'm not coming back. Far too often, with other barbers, I get home and find uneven patches around my head. Many of them just can't blend or cut evenly with scissors. It's become a huge challenge that requires me to fix it myself or return to the shop. This is why I've only been to a handful of people throughout my life, switching stylists only if they retire or move. Just as I hoped, Marshall showed his skill with scissors, clippers and any tool he used. He cut to the length I wanted while also making sure the form worked with the lay of my hair and shape of my head. Had I more time I would have browsed a few of the establishments myself, but as usual I was short on time and Kennedy's had managed to squeeze me in, so I hurried along to the shop. Upon walking in I was greeted not only by the friendly staff but by the olde timey decor with a modern twist. The shop was warm and inviting and brought me back to a time when going to the barber wasn't a chore so much as an event to be enjoyed. Once I was seated my barber (Christopher) was friendly and even offered me a cold beverage. Because of Christopher's attitude I began to relax and started to feel that this place was different... this place was special. Kennedy's wasn't a chop shop like i was used to. Christopher listened and asked the right questions before he even began cutting my hair. I could tell he really wanted me to have a haircut I would like. Christopher even went to far as to shave the back of my neck so that the lines would look crisp and sharp. When he brought out the warm shaving cream the smell immediately had me lost in old memories of a simpler time spent with my grandfather while he shaved, having nothing to worry about. As I was lost in my thoughts I began to realize that Kennedy's was just that, a place you could go and lose yourself for a bit. Kennedy's is a friendly conversation with a barber who listens to you while you get the haircut you want, a clean invigorating shave... and for just a bit maybe a place where the hustle and bustle doesn't is not allowed to creep in. I intend to get my haircut at Kennedy's from now on. I will probably join their club for the unlimited cuts. Who knows after a few more sessions I may not need therapy any more.
