The atmosphere is friendly yet respectful -- everyone is focused on their own workout, but there's still a positive energy all around. I never feel judged or uncomfortable, which is very important to me. Friendly and nice. They recently also thru a community event for members on the Jolie and the Bird rooftop which was amazing. The equipment is really good as well. And its hard to beat the view of the ocean while working out and running. They switched to Le Labo bathroom amenities ok 3/19 and that was so great because grown alchemist was terrible. The locker room and shower facilities are especially gross. No towels, no bath products, nothing complimentary. You have to bring everything yourself -- even your own lock for the lockers unless you want to pay extra for one that already has a lock attached. For the membership prices they charge, that's ridiculous. The gym/workout area feels like an old budget fitness center from decades ago. Ancient equipment, outdated layout, and just an overall neglected feel. The entire club is in desperate need of a renovation. And if you're joining primarily for tennis, look elsewhere. Tennis clearly takes a backseat now because the club is dominated by pickleball courts. If you're a true tennis player, the nonstop loud popping noise from pickleball paddles will drive you insane. To make things worse, they don't even have a proper app for court reservations. In 2026, you still have to CALL IN to reserve a court like it's 1995. There are far better tennis clubs in Orange County that actually invest in their facilities and tennis programs.

The new shower products are an upgrade from the old ones. The reason my rating is low; The main issue I have here is that I frequently see people taking selfies in the locker room. I used to complain about it, but management doesn't seem to do anything. I get an email that it's serious or a phone call and I appreciate it, but nothing seems to happen. Just today, I went through the locker room to go to the party that the gym was having, and I saw a girl taking selfies in the locker room. Other women were changing there, so it wasn't like she was all alone. It's super easy to get photos of people changing in the background. I have easily seen people taking selfies in the locker room at least a dozen of times in the last couple years. We change there. We don't have our clothes on. Why is it okay to take a photo? Even if you aren't intending to photograph others, which most people aren't, people can easily show up in the background. It makes me so uncomfortable. I avoid changing in the locker room now, or if I do, I try to hide in the back. Changing in the bathroom stalls isn't easy because things can fall into the toilet and changing in the shower is wet and the showers sometimes get crowded. It has decreased how much I value this gym, and I am hesitant to recommend it to others. I pay a lot for the gym and amenities, but if I have to constantly look over my shoulder, it ruins the experience. And when I do shower here, I have to bring clothes I can immediately change into in the shower to minimize walking around undressed in case someone decides to take a selfie and I happen to be in the reflection in the mirror. This also limits my ability to do stuff in the locker room like put lotion on. If I complain, I feel l get labeled as a "Karen". Staff doesn't seem to care. People get upset if you talk to them, and I shouldn't have to. I get emails from management that they take this seriously, but if they did they could at least put prominent signs on the mirrors in the locker rooms or have staff members remind women in the locker room not to take photos.

Instead on this trip, I had a free room available in my account, which I wanted to redeem before expiring. First of all, the front desk people are very sweet and were very knowledgeable about the hotel and the amenities included. It was also around $35 for overnight parking, which I guess was okay considering I was only staying one night. The parking garage is adjacent to the hotel. Couple of the reasons I came is for the swimming pool and the gym. It seems this is what the hotel revolves around; that and the kid care. Entering into the hotel room, it was super clean and very nice. They have a no-smoking policy in the room, which I love because certain hotels don't have that kind of policy and the rooms smells horrible. When I woke up in the morning, I had a view of the pool and spa. It seemed there was a class in the pool and it looked really fun and I didn't know they had classes. Unfortunately, I didn't have any time to see the gym, but I will my next trip to this hotel. Next time I head to this hotel, I'll have more to review but for now, this is all I have to say. I tried the facial services too and the esthetician was great. She recommended some treatments and it was quite relaxing.

Worst experience I have ever had at a gym!!!!…read more I have been using this LA Fitness through my Active and Fit membership for years. One Sunday morning, I attempted to check in only to find my access had been canceled because the credit card on file had been replaced after fraudulent charges. While I was actively trying to resolve the issue, staff insisted I had been using my mother's membership because the grainy, backlit membership photo they took years ago looked like an older woman. My mother has never been a member of LA Fitness or any gym, yet they were adamant that the photo was her and not me. I explained the situation, attempted to update the payment information, and even asked if I could simply take a five minute shower before leaving. Instead, I was threatened with the police. I asked to speak with a manager, but there was no manager working. Rather than handling the situation professionally, the staff escalated it to the point of calling the police. Two male officers entered the women's locker room over what should have been a simple payment issue. It was intimidating, unnecessary, aggressive, and completely beyond unprofessional. After I filed a complaint, the general manager, Jacob, contacted me. During our phone call, he told me he had reviewed the security footage and my membership photo and stated that the person in the photo was not me. The reality is that the photo is me. I was disappointed that, even after reviewing the situation, this remained the position taken instead of acknowledging how the incident had been handled. When I asked Jacob for the contact information of his superior, the call went silent and there was dead air. I found the communication unprofessional and it left me feeling that my concerns were not being taken seriously. The district manager, Armando, then contacted me. He offered me one free week at the Fountain Valley location (wow!) as though that somehow remedied what happened. My Active and Fit membership already includes access to the Fountain Valley location, so the offer was meaningless and, in my opinion, added insult to injury. It completely missed the point. In my opinion, this is a poorly run company with inadequate employee training for their GEN Z STAFF!!!, poor customer service, and a lack of experienced management when it matters most. No customer should be falsely accused of using someone else's membership or have the police called over a payment issue they were actively trying to resolve!!!!!!! This experience permanently changed my opinion of LA Fitness. I do not want another penny of my money going to this company, and I will never support this business again. I will also be sharing my experience with my friends, family, coworkers, and anyone who asks me about gyms or is considering joining LA Fitness! You can count on that.
