I'm a cemetery lover. I can't help it. Despite the fact that I hate funerals, dying, death --all that crap--I still love burial grounds. I think it's the peace and quiet mixed with the park-like atmosphere provided by old, gnarly trees and wild flowers. I grew up in the country, so every chance I get to spend time in nature here, I grab.
Rake Lane Cemetery is a really big, peaceful cemetery in Wallasey that makes a good place for long walks and meandering thoughts. I walk by here a lot and notice that even on bright sunny days there aren't that many people walking in there, though sometimes there are a few.
Also, if you like to photograph grave stones as some people do, there are plenty of old ones here worth shooting.
I know I sound morbid when I say this, but this is a very pretty cemetery. read more
