I have to agree. This is one of the best curry and kebab houses around excellent flavours through out the menu and the service is pretty good too.. Even though they are very very busy all the time.. Give this place a try read more

Getting off the train and walking down for a taxi after a few drinkies in Manchester invariably…read moreleads you close to the welcoming glow and garlicky waftings of Jojo's. Bisto style, (other gravies are available), the scent lures you to the door and before you know it you are gazing at the enormous menu and wiping off the saliva from your shoes! Pizzas, (I refuse to call them pizzaz), aplenty in just about any combination and up to an 18 inch behemoth, (I recommend the roni and garlic), garlic bread (z) with multiple toppings (maxaroni is heaven), kebabs (z), chicken, burgers (z) and pakoras (z), what more can you ask? The staff are always chatty and pleasant, the service is speedy, they will order you a taxi ready for you when the order is complete and their delivery service is excellent. To top it off the food is always fresh and delicious. One of our takeaways of choice for any occasion in the borough.

I say the only half decent take-away pizza with a heavy heart because i'm a bit of a pizza addict. In my area there is a Dominos which whilst their pizzas are ok i prefer mine to not come with over an inch thich tide of tomato sauce on it. Everything else around here seems to be kebab houses that happen to do pizzaz. Jo Jo'z is different,it is a pizza place that happens to do kebabs..see the subtle difference? Anyhow we normally only order from here late on a Saturday/early on a sunday after drinking copious amounts of Bourbon. My particular favourite and what i ordered this evening is the garlic pizza bread with cheese and pepperoni. As i said they also do kebabs,a selection of pasta dishes, kids meals (but you wouldnt would you?) and various burgers...All in all i like Jo Jo'z they do exactly what it sayzzzzzz on their delivery Smart Cars.

But last saturday all that changed. We decided to give it a go for our after drinkies nosh, and very pleased with what I got I was too. In my younger (less experimental) days I always opted for a korma, and when I try a new place I always go back to it,let's face it,if the can't get a korma right then they don't deserve my custom. And i'm pleased to say that they got it spot on! Also the garlic naan was spot on too. Mrs Z got a keema peas with added paneer, which hit the spot too. Yep, i'll certainly be going back to The Kitchen and next time i'll be trying their lamb nehari,a dish which is seriously lacking on the menu in most Take-Aways...

There's a growing trend of places in Rusholme creating a new niche for themselves. It's kind of a take-away/Restaurant hybrid phenomenon. The seating area very much looks like a restaurant, but the front of house still very much resembles a take-away, and it is. Whilst I myself can't bring myself round to seeing it as a restaurant, it's too noisy and the prices don't suggest it. The reality is it's packed with people that do treat it as such. The latest Golf advert on TV (The parachute one) emphasises the idea "You get what you pay for". As a Mancunian foodie I'd strongly testify against that philosophy. Rusholme is littered with places that serve exceptional food at ordinary prices. In contrast I've also paid extortionate prices for below average food in the city centre. The service might not be the best at Kebabish but the food certainly is of high quality. The lamb chops, marinated in a secret spicy sauce and grilled fresh are the best I've tried anywhere for a long time. One of the things you might have to get used to if you haven't been is the lack of, how shall I put this... hmmm let's say it's the equivalent of a Doctor having dreadful bedside manner. If you're expecting an Americanized fake teethy "Hello there how may I help you" approach, it ain't gonna happen. You'll get a very serious, busy and efficient glare the kind you encounter at your driving test perhaps. None the less as I said the quality of the food will more than make up for it. Al Quds and Jaffa have their healthy competition back for my custom and that's not a bad thing at all.
