So we finally got to try out the newish Raising Canes in Largo. We were familiar with the brand from our time in Louisiana where we loved the simple yet tasty strips and sides. This location has the same relaxed atmosphere and tasty food that we had experienced years ago. We both got the Box combo which came with four strips a side of coleslaw, a piece of Texas toast and a drink. The food was fresh and tasty and the tea was brewed fresh. I am glad we have a Canes in the area now and will visit when we are in the Largo area. I hope we get one in Tampa soon. read more

I was excited to get to come to Raising Canes for lunch since we were in Largo. It had been over a decade since I had been to Raising Canes and I was excited to see if it was as good as I remembered. The decor was industrial and had a lot of fun, quirky details. I went to the counter and ordered the Box combo. The staff member was friendly and polite. The chicken fingers were fresh and tender, the fries were lightly crispy and salted perfectly, the coleslaw was very tasty and the Canes sauce was just as good as I remembered. It's chicken tenders. That's it. We don't even bother with Cole slaw (which is good), Texas toast (which awesome with some BBQ sauce), or French fries (which as good, but not great). We got here around 1045 for late breffist/early lunch between other errands. This one is a lot quieter and lower key than the one on Gulf to Bay, thankfully. For one thing the employees don't hoot and holler. Order taker at the counter didn't even notice us for a minute and when he did, all he said was "what can I get for you?" We both got 3-finger combos sans toast for extra slaw. Doesn't even seem that the cup of slaw was much bigger than the ones on the other orders that came out subsequent to ours. Oh, well: at least I didn't have to toss out that godawful excuse for "Texas toast" they seem to think goes with an order of fried chicken tenders. What still mystifies me is their claim to make fries to order. I find that hard to believe since when our food FINALLY came out after about seven minutes, fries were already lukewarm and limp rather than hot and crisp. Tenders, on the other hand, were quite warm and crisp...go figure. Meanwhile, the people who were already waiting when we first arrived didn't get their food until AFTER we did. The next few people who came in afterward, oddly enough, all got their food in less than a minute. I suppose timing is everything after all... Slaw is still the same yummy stuff as previously, albeit in a (barely) bigger cup. Still beats their godawful toast crap, which is probably best to for lining the bottom of a birdcage. Also the same is their salty sauce for the tenders. A lot of folks swear by it; I don't. Tasted more like a salt laden remoulade than what I recalled from my previous visit to the other location in Clearwater. Most of the employees seemed to be keeping themselves busy doing different things when the store itself was quiet. It's good to see that these folks have something to do to justify the high prices. I say that is true with the exception of ONE redheaded employee. This girl did absolutely NOTHING but sit in a booth totally engaged in a tablet and totally disengaged FROM anything going on around her in the store. We were there for well over a half hour and this kid barely moved or did anything but gawk at that damn iPad or tablet. What kind of look does that present to the paying public choosing to "dine in"? While I'm sure the owner or manager can come up with some lame excuse or coverup, I still believe perceptions speak loudly. One good thing transpired out of this visit. My dear Queen Bee had her hankering for chicken tenders dispatched. Many Mobil orders you need to double check because the most expensive sauce of .39 missing in your order they will not give you extra due to the inconvenience . The letdown of the year. I had always wanted to go to Raising Canes because I'd heard so much about it. Finally I got to and man, what a bummer. The location was new and the staff was nice, all of that was alright. The location: The restaurant itself was not clean. No napkins, rarely and cutlery and most of, it not all of the table were dirty. Eating chicken tenders without napkins is not recommended. The food: The sides were ok. I liked the friends although they could have had more flavor and the coleslaw was good too, a nice sweetness to it and chopped nicely. And i liked the Texas toast. The tenders, which the tenders are good. They are juicy and fresh , i don't think they have much flavor associated with them. The breading is sort of soft or flimsy and not crispy at all. Two people in line, much like Chick-fil-A but while waiting, one walked away to never return... we watched and waited while someone else came out but wasn't taking orders. Before they came to Clearwater/Largo, I was such a Raising Cane's fan, scoping it out in every major city and would frequent the Vegas locations when visiting my brother... I crave their juicy chicken strips, crinkle cut fries, lemonade and sweet tea, and personally I come back for the sauce. Perhaps this location is still working through some first month jitters, but I've had the wrong order here not once but twice. I don't intend for this to sound like my villain origin story but these two visits are why I have trust issues. All I can say is always open your bag up and check your order! A Caniac combo comes with 6 tenders, fries, a coleslaw, and toast... the first time I ordered to-go, I waited over half an hour only to come home to 4 tenders in my box. For a meal that costs over $15, this left me extremely disappointed. Despite the first visit, I saw no line and found myself back in the drive-thru for an easy dinner... I ordered two meals for me and the hubby. We really dislike coleslaw so I tried to ask for double fries as a substitute this time... There was only one car in front of me and not a full parking lot so it clearly wasn't that busy. At the window, I was greeted with 3 drinks so I already knew my order was going to be messed up... After letting them know I only needed two drinks, the server passed me my lemonade and sweet tea and claimed that my order was popping up twice. I waited a few minutes and checked on my two meals at the window. After counting all my tenders were there (lol), I noticed there was coleslaw in my Caniac box. I told the server about my substitute for double fries and she asked for my receipt... the reply was, "is this not what you ordered?" I spelled out that I was missing an extra serving of fries. She then handed me a small box and sent me on my way... I opened the box to find another coleslaw. As prior Oklahomans, Raising Canes was a staple for us years ago. All these years later, it still holds up for us. The menu is limited to basics, mainly just how many chicken fingers do you want. But they do it well. The chicken itself is good but it's the Cane's sauce that sends it over the top! Much better than CFA sauce or Zaxby's sauce, it's a tangy blend of delicious flavors. The fries are fine. I always substitute the cole slaw out for a 2nd toast because the toast is my favorite side. Just the right amount of butter with an almost sweet taste. Carry-out service was quick. And they don't advertise it much but they do have a Caniac Club where you get free Box combos after signing up, on your sign-up anniversary, and other deals throughout the year. Overall, this is a good chicken place. It falls behind Chick-fil-A for me and just a bit behind PDQ but ahead of Zaxby's. read more

Brand new location here in Clearwater. I always like to let the new come off a restaurant location to be fair. I even made my debut visit at 6:20pm on a Monday evening. I ordered the 3-piece Tenders and Fries. I always enjoyed dining at Canes when I lived in St Louis. I moved to Florida in 2014 and haven't had the food since. Several orders came in after mine including a large party of 9. All received their food before me. It was only after I approached the counter and spoke to a "manager" 25 minutes after placing my order were they aware of it. I get waiting longer at a new location but not waiting to get my order after 15 people that came after got their food first. The manager apologized and said "they've" been pre bumping orders they're not supposed to do that. Overall the food was good as I remember. Canes has some of the best sauce and tenders around. The fries seemed under cooked. Perhaps pulled too soon from the fryer? The sweet tea was solid. For this the visit gets a 3-Star review. I hope for a better experience next time. The menu itself is extremely basic. Tenders, tender sandwiches, fries, cole slaw, Texas toast and fountain drinks. So make sure chicken tenders are what you're wanting, because that's all they got! The fries were typical crinkle cut, hot fresh and plenty. I opted for extra fries instead of Coleslaw . You can also choose to get another piece of toast or extra sauce if coleslaw and extra fries aren't your thing. The tenders were juicy and hot, not too much fried breading. The Texas toast was a bit unique. Had sesame seeds, was both soft and toasty, sweet and buttery. Nice. My girls had raved about the Canes sauce. My brother in law and girlfriend are visiting from Australia and had raising Canes on their list of American foods to try. We never had them before so we decided to order lunch from them. Not only were they disappointed, our whole family was! The fries we're severely undercooked. No crunch at all. The chicken..Oh dear, the chicken.... The batter hardly had a crunch and the chicken was rubbery. The lids to the Post Malone cups had something wrong with them. Everyone who had one had most of their drink spill on them. The sauce was just ok. Not the most amazing condiment I've ever had. Overall, I won't be considering eating at this chain again. Especially after how hard my wallet was hit. $58! BELIEVE THE HYPE! I've eaten chicken strips/fingers for decades, and although most are pretty good, Raising Canes has done an exceptional job at delivering GREAT flavor! You won't need sauce to eat this incredibly juicy, flavorful chicken! They offer cane sauce (I think fry sauce with pepper), which in my opinion, only enhances the flavor of the bird. Crinkle cut fries, Texas toast, and Cole slaw round out the meal. Staff was friendly, atmosphere was loud but not too loud that you wanted to leave. They should have a tender salad on the menu that is missing when the only have Tenders or Tender Sandwich entree.
