It is a family run business, and you can tell...they treat you like family even if it has been years and years since you've seen them. I saw Trey today (their professional) and he was laughing about how his mom "teaches kids and they don't even know they're being taught. They just think they're playing." And it's true. She taught me back in the day. Bottom line: if you want to learn how to ride, this is the place to go. The perfect place to find your barn family.

According to their website, the camp was $400 with a $50 deposit but I ended up paying $460 for some reason because the deposit seemed to just be an up front pay, and we had to pay an extra $10 for a helmet rental. The kids rode a different horse every day, which was of course my daughter's favorite part, but they did a lot more activities that weren't related to horses at all. Instead of them playing basic camp games and doing basic crafts that could have been done at home, they could have done horse related games/activities. They also had a lot more downtime than anticipated and described on the site, and they were playing games in the blazing sun during a heatwave. Even though this was the first time for my daughter to ride a horse, instructor Kayla wasn't hands on, and just sat at the sidelines while yelling instructions at the kids from a distance. While my daughter overall had a great experience with the horses, our overall value for money could have been a lot better. The kids were doing unstructured activities and were unsupervised at times (we observed this)! I would definitely recommend other parents to look into other options for a horse camp.

Four months later, my wife and I drove to Lexington to pick up our rebred mare and her three month old filly. We boarded the mare and filly overnight at Phoenix Farm and stayed in town....about 7 miles down the highway. The second stay was just as nice as the first. Genie Stewart, the owner, boards a number of horses full time. I don't think that overnight boarding is a huge part of her business, but we are glad she makes it available. She let us put our mare and filly in her large, triangle shaped turnout for a few hours so the horses could stretch, graze and relax before going into their large stall. \ Genie really put a lot of effort into preparing the oversized stall for us....including putting down a couple of bags of very nice pelletized bedding. Like before, she let us drop our trailer and clean it out. We left for our hotel around 4 pm and came back by to check on the horses at around 7 p.m. When we came back, Genie and one of her young clients (a wonderful young lady name Lexi) had given Fancy a much needed bath...rinsed off the foal...and applied fly spray to both. Genie and Lexi fed Fancy and the baby on Thursday night and Friday morning. Genie checked on the horses a couple of times before bed and early in the morning. She gave us a very reassuring report about how the horses did overnight. Genie and Lexi helped us load Fancy and the filly on Friday morning. Just out of this world service. Genie just charged us $30.00 to keep our horses on her beautiful, gated property.....a price she really needs to raise. We will likely make the pilgrimage through Jackson, Tennessee twice a year with our mare. Phoenix Farm will be a part of each trip. Our heartfelt thanks to Genie and Lexi for all of the great help.

He had a couple of okay weeks then began throwing his toys at home and becoming more aggressive. When my daughter asked about this she was told they had placed him in the older preschool class because they didn't have a place in his age group class. We had no idea this was being done until my daughter asked if he was showing these behaviors at school. The teacher explained that they would be placing him in the appropriate age group class as soon as a spot was opened. We should have been told this before they accepted him. Around the 3rd week of being there he became sick with a serious upper respiratory infection. He appeared well, when he returned, however, when he was picked up that day, he was feeling much worse. We are disappointed, not only that they didn't call to say he was worse, but they allowed him to be there infecting the other children. After returning to school, within the next few days, he contracted a severe case of "hand, foot, mouth" infection. He had never been sick with even a sniffle prior to attending this preschool! It appears to me the administrators at Cadence Academy Preschool have no regard for the children's health nor concern regarding exposing the healthy children to any virus or infection. This indicates to me that the school is very unclean and they do not care. Lastly, my daughter left her job 3 weeks ago, and took him out of Cadence. She was told they would charge her another 2 weeks, which she agreed to. Her credit card was on file there and watched her card closely. This week is the 3rd week and they charged her again. She asked for a refund and was told in writing they would not reimburse her this third week. As she makes plans on her actions to get this resolved, I decided to write this review to at least warn any parents who check reviews to know of these issues. Cadence Academy in Olive Branch is the only preschool with openings at this time so please do not put your child there simply because they have an opening. It isn't worth it. It says a lot that they are the only preschool with openings to fill without a waiting list.
