Their secret power is the fact they cater to all - they have really affordable items, from £8, to things that most of us couldn't afford in a long time, as their catalogue extends to items near £8000. Nevertheless, the quality of service to both the £8 customers and the £8K customers is just as good. Even if you're not after a purchase, it's worth a look to be overwhelmed by the beauty of the shop itself, and then the items they keep. With adverts placed in Vogue, Tatler, and Harper & Collins, they have some serious clients and are decidedly Cliftonian, but these are all good things in my opinion. Go search for those gems!

But don't dear if these are outside your budget as they also stock more reasonably priced costume pieces as well as beaded necklaces and bracelets. The shop owner is exceptionally friendly and always happy to chat (especially about the pieces in store). My favourite part about jewellery lane is the fantastic window displays which change to suit the season. They also will be able to help with repairs and alterations.

This section has some unusual pieces, from ultra-modern to hippie/gothic styles. The owner is very friendly, items are wrapped lovingly in coloured tissue papers and ribbons so makes for perfect gifts. They also provide a repairs and alterations service, which is sent off site so not on the spot. I had a very delicate gold chain altered and she took a lot of time to get it right when I was in the shop and the work was completed with great care.

The only thing to bare-in-mind is that Inca does not accept card payments of less than £5.00. On the right hand side of the store are a set of jewellery counters housing some lovely sterling silver pieces. Inca is one of the only places offering this sort of jewellery in this area (especially with the recent closure of High-Ho-Silver on the triangle); lots of very interesting designs with heavy silver pendants, bangle and rings with aqua and amber stones. I personally can't afford (nor do I desire a lot of) the jewellery they sell - one-off silver pieces of very contemporary design (I'm more of a wooden beads or a costume jewellery kinda gal). Still, they've been v.successful, pioneering jewellery design in the West. And it isn't just for the ladies as the men's stuff is chunky, funky and cool. They do some hefty cufflinks (with hefty pricetag) as well as unique wedding and engagement rings, all created in the Diana Porter studio.
