I am very sad to be leaving his care. so, why the one star rating? well... he decided to change his business model to a concierge medicine model. the example would be a gym membership. you want to be seen here... it'll be an extra $80/month just to be part of his practice. this also leaves out something that has come up with my wife a few times. she tends to have overall poor health and has had some incidents where she needed a boil drained or whatever and rather than taking care of it there (while she was there in his office) he sent her to any emergent care clinic of her choosing. as much as we've trusted (and really still do trust) them as a whole I found that odd. this led to even more "Hmmm" sort of thoughts. he didn't (or doesn't?) seem to keep any vaccines on hand and referred me out to the local Albertson's, Walgreen's etc. when I was forced by work to get a shot. most of this I can deal with but, it all plays into the same thing. more money for what is apparently LESS service. if it weren't for the face-to-face interactions I've had with Dr. Duncan being so amazing and his staff so completely helpful I would've left on my own years ago.

I asked the office about notifications and was told they did mail outs. Where is mine? No email, no snail mail, nothing. I feel this is negligent in many ways.

Dr. Yan Geng needs to be evaluated in whether or not she has the bandwidth for the clients she treats. She's unable to discuss more than a singular issue in an appointment after showing up into the room a half hour later. The other reviews on her competency lines up 110% with our experience. In past phone calls with office manager Dale R, he stated that Pioneer Family Practice has taken on too many clients per doctor, and the quality of client care absolutely shows that. Dale R refused to give his full name after yelling in our faces when we took a photo of Dr. Yan Geng's name on the wall, a spelling which is uncommon. We should've known taking a picture of our doctor's name would've resulted in being kicked out and Dale R's face becoming inches from ours. Good luck to any present patients, our now retired doctor told us to leave before the transfer to Dr. Yan Geng. By the time I finally got ahold of the office to get the link, I was told it was an in person appointment and not a virtual! That is not what I was told when I talked to the service to book an appointment yesterday after waiting on hold for 2 hours to get ahold of anyone to schedule an appointment! I was also told my prescription refill was called in to find out today it never had been! When I finally got connected with Sadia Houssin for my virtual appointment her camera didn't work. I was told I can see you but I couldn't see her. I explained to her I had sent 3 messages via my chart on the 9th and as of the 15, not a single one had been replied to. Her response was Im so glad we were able to connect today. (Well one sided Since her camera didnt work). I stated I had messaged her 3 times in my chart and had zero response to any if them! I finally called the office on the 15th and waited in hold 2 hours to reach a human to speak to. Then I was told they had a virtual appointment available and they would call im my medication refill. But then today I Found out it was supposed to be an in person appointment not virtual and no my medication refill had not been called in. When I was finally able to meet with the dr I was in complete tears thinking that I had missed my appointment because it was supposed to be online. Her response was just Im so glad we were able to meet today! Not im so sorry there was zero response to you messages for more then a week, or Im so sorry you were told your appointment was virtual but was actually booked as in person! I understand that business are short staffed and mistakes happen! But when telling my dr all of the issues that I experienced to get the appointment, the wrong info given, and all the issues experienced were completely side stepped is unacceptable! If you're on your own insurance plan, pay your bills, and show up on time, you'll probably have a perfectly fine experience. I genuinely liked my provider, and every member of the in-clinic staff I interacted with was kind, professional, and welcoming. I was a patient here for over a year. One of the biggest advantages was how quickly they could get you in--sometimes even with same-day appointments. During my time there, I never missed an appointment, never arrived late, and always paid every bill for both myself and my children on time. That's why what happened next was so shocking. Out of nowhere, I received a letter informing me that my entire family had been dismissed from the clinic and would no longer be receiving care. There was no explanation. I was actively undergoing treatment at the time, so I honestly assumed the letter had been sent in error. Trying to clear things up, I contacted the clinic. Alison DeBakker, Assistant Director of Operations, directed me to the billing department. I immediately called, left a voicemail requesting the status of my account, and waited. Then I called again. And again. Multiple voicemails, no returned calls. After getting nowhere with billing, I emailed the clinic administrators asking for someone to please call me back so I could understand what was happening. Jenifer Malone, Clinic Director of Operations, responded. Instead of providing an explanation, she told me they had already discussed the matter with someone on my account and, due to HIPAA laws, they could not discuss it with me. She then went one step further and instructed me not to contact the clinic again. To summarize: after more than a year as a reliable patient--always showing up, always paying my bills, and never causing any issues--I was blindsided by a decision to terminate care for both myself and my family. I was never given an explanation, never afforded a meaningful conversation, and was ultimately told not to reach out again. The medical care I received was good, and the front-office staff treated me well. Unfortunately, the way the administration handled this situation completely overshadowed that experience. Being abruptly dismissed from care without transparency or the opportunity to resolve the issue is something no patient should have to experience.

I've been through some really odd health issues the last couple years and she has treated them very well, or referred me to one who can with lots of follow up on her part. Looking back on my past health needs, 99% of my reasons for seeing a doctor could have been equally taken care of by a nurse practitioner.

Without all the details, I was stunned by the immediate defensive attitude of the office manager when I inquired as to why I was told my appointment was at 6:45 am (I arrived early as you do for a 1st visit), when in fact they won't open the doors until 6:45 am, so I waited in my car for 30 minutes. "Just wait in your car with the motor running." and "It's not even cold today." It was 36 degrees. I was also told I would have my annual physical (the whole reason I made the appointment) before I came in, but when I got there I was told I'd have to come back for that, that this was just a meet and greet. I can't comment on the doctors as I never saw them. I wasn't going to stay after being treated this way. Hard to describe in words how hostile they reacted to my asking questions about the offices communication. Guess they aren't used to being called out on their condescending behavior.
