This is a pleasantly old-fashioned railway station with interesting historic connections. The famous Rainhill trials were held here in the early 19th century, won by Stephenson's Rocket. The station has no facilities, save for a waiting room and ticket office. The staff are particularly well-known for being friendly and helpful. Trains go towards Manchester and Warrington in one direction and Liverpool in the other. The location is a stone's throw from the shops in Rainhill Village. read more
