There are beautiful flower beds all around the motel grounds. There's plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy while you're there!

This is the most adorable little motel! It's super clean and cozy and very comfortable. The motel is run by two adorable small dogs and their humans, and all of them are very kind and helpful!

I was looking for a hotel in Mackinac City, and literally scoured every site and hotel in the area online. After a thorough search, I decided to book here. Talk about an excellent decision! The prices here are awesome, and way cheaper then the rest. For a Thursday and Friday night, it only cost us $58 a night after tax. You can book the rooms online through their website or over the phone. You will need to leave a credit card number, but when you go to check in, you can pay cash like we did. I had a few questions, so I booked over the phone. The gal who helped me was super nice, and let me know that check in time is 2PM and check out is 10 AM. Each room comes with a flat screen TV, microwave and small fridge to shove your food in. Unfortunately, there's no in room coffee maker, but they do serve coffee from basically open until close in the lobby area. The lobby area is clean and well kept. It's not huge, but it's a nice little space. It's attached to the large pool and hot tub in the center of the Motel. This place is family owned, so no corporate shenanigans here! Each room has an assigned parking spot. Your spot has a number, so you know where to park, and even though there's no open parking here, it's an easy thing to navigate. Our stay here was extremely nice and pleasant. No screaming children running around, lots of quiet time and we were centrally located in downtown Mackinac. We were able to walk to the ferries and leave our car parked at the hotel, making stuff a little bit easier for us. Also, the pool is wonderful! After a long day of walking the island we were able to relax in the hot tub and the pool for a good soak to relax our muscles. Also, if you give your dirty pool towels to the front desk gal, you can get clean one's for your room. We had maid service that was excellent. She cleaned and restocked our room when we were gone during the day, along with all the usual cleaning stuff such as removing the trash and making the bed for us. Overall, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The price drew me in, but the pleasant experience here will keep me coming back. Not only is it half the price to stay here, but they have a great selection of room sizes for just about anyone's needs. Next time I come up here, I will definitely be staying here!

Can you see me in the white gazebo writing this?

Thank you Yelp community. Saw they had5 stars. Was at Petoskey State Park. Didn't even read reviews beyond " little piece of paradise", called and am paying about 80+ for their budget Roo, which is small, but the whole place is charming and I'm writing this from a gazebo drinking a beer from Petoskey that I bought at seemingly the only convenience store in town.

Napping after a long ride and before a big dinner from the neighboring awesome Lighthouse.

The Rainbow is my favorite little slice of heaven in Mac-n-ac City. Twizzle and I bunk here the night before our Island adventures. There is a pot of gold at then end of them built of economy, charm, warmth, cleanliness, amenities, quiet and perfect lo cal. I'm staying there again tomorrow night for the 4th time!

This is a good hotel with prime access to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Great place to stay for a cheaper price than in Mackinac.

The only downside is it's not very walkable from the downtown area and has no beachfront property. It is close to the fort and not too far away from the park where there's lots of great bridge views. Staff were friendly and welcoming. They upgraded our room to a suite which was very nice. The suite had one area as a living room/kitchenette, along with a fireplace and a separate room that had a bedroom. The bathroom had a nice vanity and was clean. The only downside is the noise from the freeway. It's pretty loud and you can hear it quite a bit. Our suite had two balconies, which were nice, but with the light above, it wasn't the greatest place to sit when it was starting to get dark with all the bugs. Parking can be a little cramp. Breakfast was great! Your classic Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Pancake machine and all! They also had cereal, bacon, eggs, all the fixings. They also had an updated coffee machine that grounds the coffee beans for each cup. When we checked in, there was also a nice complementary display box of cookies. The price for all of this was very reasonable. We really enjoyed our stay!

On this visit I was treated to a wonderful room with a fantastic view of the Mighty Mac! I really enjoy the breakfast buffet they offer, it will fuel you up properly for a day of exploration. The only negative thing I can say is you do hear a bit of semi truck "downshifting" as they approach the bridge, but that is easily fixed with the white noise app on my phone.

This time we arrived early and asked for a floor level room due to having a wagon and two kids. They graciously allowed us to have a floor room but informed us it wouldnt be ready until 2:30pm which was fine because the check in time did state 4pm. We ended up come back around 4pm from the island. The room was 2 queens and it was massive! Insanely massive and better than the king one we had. The room was clean and thankfully the toilet worked. We went to the pool and it was nice and warm and empty at that time. Only sad thing was there is no tub in this room so it was hard to wash the kids but we managed. Breakfast is upstairs and sadly no elevator nearby. The food wasnt too bad. The kids ate a little and then we checked out. I will say that the staff was super nice. He was nice when checking us in an out. He had such a positive attitude.

Unfortunately, while the location and price were convenient, the hotel itself could definitely use a facelift and a major upgrade. The rooms we stayed in felt very dated and musty. The furniture looked like it was from the early 2000s and was definitely showing its age. The overall cleanliness of the property was also disappointing. I noticed dead bugs throughout the property, marks on the walls, and paint that looked like it hadn't been updated in years. Overall, I would give the hotel a C- for cleanliness and condition. The service was just okay. During check-in, the front desk staff seemed more focused on their own conversation than assisting guests, which made the experience feel somewhat unwelcoming. I understand that this was one of the more affordable options in the area, but I think the hotel has a lot of room for improvement. If I find myself back in the Mackinaw City or Mackinac Island area, I would probably choose to stay somewhere else. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I also wouldn't recommend this hotel to friends or family.

There were only 2 restaurants and 2 stores open during our visit, which made it very difficult to get the most out of this trip. I included this note in the review because you will probably book through the Mackinaw City website, which does not fully emphasize how many businesses and attractions are closed November-April. If you visit during the off season, plan on crossing the bridge to St. Ignace or driving 45 minutes to Petoskey for more food/shopping choices.*** [Staff/Service] Check-in staff was friendly, but not particularly helpful. We were given wrong directions for accessing the waterpark, which resulted in taking an elevator to the third floor only to walk back down three flights of stairs to the park when our room was maybe 200 feet from the main entrance. The other desk clerk we interacted with was new, but helpful when we needed batteries for a TV remote. [Cleanliness] The room was very clean. However, my son did find a leftover marijuana cone in the back of a dresser drawer. [Space] The room was very spacious. We booked a suite, and 3 adults + 2 kids were comfortable the whole stay. [Decor] Room decor was minimal and outdated, BUT the low prices of this hotel also don't attract the kind of clientele who respect the property. More modern decor would be nice, but I understand not investing in too much here. [Furniture/Bedding] The mattresses seemed new. Bedding was very clean and comfortable. The furniture is outdated and worn, but sturdy. As with decor, I don't blame the owners for not investing heavily in new furniture. [Noise] It was still the off season, so it was pretty quiet most of the time. A few other guests did get loud sitting on the balconies, but again... the low prices attract a "variety" of visitors. We saw a lot of empty alcohol and cigarette trash around the parking lot every morning, and saw multiple families (with children) carrying baggies of marijuana into their rooms. So... [Location] It's Mackinaw City... During the regular season, it has great access to everything. In the off-season, expect to travel to St. Ignace or Petsokey for food/shopping. [Price] Incredible value! A 2 bedroom suite with waterpark included for three nights was HALF the price of a one-night stay at most other waterparks. It is very budget-friendly, and perfect for kids up to probably 13. The pool is large, and the hot tub is basically a pool itself, so great for adults. [Food] Huge disappointment here. The website for this specific hotel states "updated breakfast room", but there is NO breakfast at this hotel. In the off season (Nov-April), there are only two nearby restaurants with breakfast, one of them being a high-priced saloon. Plan to pack breakfast items or drive across the Mackinac Bridge to St. Ignace. [General] It's a budget-friendly, family-friendly hotel with a nice indoor waterpark. A bit outdated and in need of some repairs, but don't let that deter you from visiting. In the future, we plan to visit after May, when more attractions are open.

There was a plunger in the bathroom, and I tried unplugging it a couple of times but was not successful. This was late at night, around 10 or 11. We waited for 45 minutes, but nobody came up in that time. I went down to the front desk and asked again if someone could come up to take care of the problem. There were two ladies in the lobby, one was busy dealing with other guests. I asked the second one about the bathroom. First, she told me that the other lady was taking care of it. Next, she asked me if there was a plunger in the room, I told her that yes, there was. Then she asked me, in a very rude and exasperated way, why I hadn't taken care of it myself. I told her I tried twice and it didn't work, but also that I was a guest, and I should not be responsible for fixing a problem in the room. I paid money to be taken care of, so to speak, not to be fixing problems. The lady became very upset and rude and started telling me that yes, I should be fixing it, since the plunger was there. She then left in the middle of the conversation. She must have taken about 30 - 40 minutes to return. I was about to leave back for my room when she came to tell me that she had gone to the room and fixed it herself, and told me it was hilarious that I could not take care of this myself. I was upset and I told her that she was raising her voice, and she said "No, I'm not!", and I again told her that this was her job, not mine. I ended up leaving after telling her to expect a formal complaint about this. When I came back to the room, it turns out that she was rude also to my wife, complaining that I had not been able to take care of the problem. She leaves the plunger in the room. The next morning we get woken up at 7:50 despite the fact that there's a "do not disturb" sign hanging. We were woken up because we "never returned the plunger", never mind our angry friend left it behind the night before. and never mind that everybody in the room is sleeping. The toilet plugged again on Saturday, and several calls from our room were not picked up, but were picked up once my wife used her cell phone. This time a very swet plumber came and took care of the problem without all that fuss. They have a lounge area in the 5th floor, with a pool table, and an arcade. The pool table does not have a triangle to arrange the balls, and the arcade ate some of the coins. These are minor issues. Most importantly, the toilet in the area was unusable because there was a 10 cm turd stuck in it which had not been cleaned by the time we left, so at least 3 days. The staff was rude, and condescending, and they certainly did not show consideration to our concerns and requests. The hotel seems to be decaying, which is not their fault. But what I consider their fault is their horrible attitude toward their guests. Do not stay there. The place is a dump. If anyone from the corporate office is reading this, I can provide additional details. Jaime B

The all in one tv/closet/cabinet was very dusty/dirty on the bottom outside of the refrigerator. One of the handles bars in the washroom was rigged to stay up. The balcony is a decent size with table and 2 chairs. They could use a wiping. You can visibly tell the balconies do not get wash down periodically as there were huge and plenty spiderwebs with trash and dirt in them. They do not spray for bug as they were visible. Bring a can of out door bug spray. Beautiful lake view, beautiful beach. The bedspread was worn with stains but it was clean. The sliding door to the patio did not lock properly. Only 1 elevator for this massive size hotel. Plenty of carts to transport your luggage. The Comfort Inn Motel is connected to this hotel as well. Dining hall: buffet style. Plenty of options (powdered eggs, Canadian bacon, cereal, breakfast bars, fruit coctails, pancakes, waffles, muffins, coffee, juice, y3a, etc.) Dining hall is huge as it is shared by both hotels (Comfort Inn and Hamilton Inn). Its a bit dark and gloomy in the room. Hall ways are sometimes blocked by large cleaning carts and some of the house keepers look at you strange when you move them out your way. They do not have any room door signs for do not disturb. The swimming pool water was not clear. Very cloudy. The hot tub at one point had lots of suds. Its wasn't the cleanest area. Plenty of parking. Side and outter doors need better security as anyone could walk in off the parking lot or beach and enter the facility. Desk Service (3 women). They are not the friendliest. The supervisor is the worst of them all. She appeared to be very bossy and boarderline unprofessional to her coworkers. They talk to you like you did something wrong if you ask a question. They were all well dresses and groomed. Again, they should not be the face of the resort with bad atritudes. The hotel is walking distance to the Ferry that you will take to Mackinac Island. All the hotels are next door to one another (like the Las Vegas strip) so everything in walking distance (2-4 blocks). Shopping, activites and restaurants are also walking distance in this same area. They hotel had lots of guest as it seems to stay very busy. Overall, I would stay again if 1 or 2 other hotels were not available as I now know what to expect here at the Hamilton. The owner just need to invest and address a few minor and cosmetic details and it could easily be a 5-star hotel. Due to the flaws identified, the price needs to come down a bit and should never be over $160 a night. I paid $217 - $237 a night.
