It is so nice to get together with like-minded parents that just want a place where their kids can play and explore. You yourself get a chance to be in the classroom and help out, play and see all of your kids' friends interact. Soon you will be getting your feet in the sand yard, going to parent meetings where the teachers will give you tips on how to calm your child during a meltdown, and you will talk to other parents and see that you're not alone. Some examples of community that I can think of during our time are the parent meetings, potluck events, a camping trip, and events at school where everyone is welcome for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. When we had our second child, and EECP knew we were finally home, we got a few gifts delivered for our new baby, but also a couple of big brother gifts and books from the school. When I'm at work and I get some photos sent to our parent group message board of what the kids are doing that day, it makes you wish you were at school that day instead of sitting behind a desk. Those are the times I know that we got lucky to find the EECP and other involved parents and teachers. One other thing I remembered that I enjoy is the stuff that our kiddo brings home. It is not just paintings that will soon be on your fridge or decorated shoe boxes, but also stories and music. Our 3-year-old would come home from school and teach me about Mardi Gras. He insisted on Mardi Gras songs being played in our home. He enjoyed dancing and marching and was explaining how parades worked, as if I had no idea what one was. It was so much fun to finally go to school and see all the kids parade around in fun costumes and carry around little decorated shoe boxes they made in class. This is just one of the events that we've loved as a family and now as a community.

After taking one step on campus, I knew that Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) was the right place…read morefor my kids. Living in the area, we are fortunate to have many options to consider: from public, to charters, to private faith and non-faith based schools. And, although my husband is an alumni of OLPH, I did not want that to influence my decision. However, I simply could not deny how comfortable I immediately felt and how impressed I was with the tour. It started with the kindness that I received as I walked into the office to start my tour. Another parent overheard that I was touring and welcomed me and told me about how happy she was with the school and the faith community. My tour guide Maria was so patient and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. And let me tell you I threw a lot at her as I'd done my homework! One thing that struck me was that no matter where we went on campus, there were connections. It became clear how much teachers and staff truly love what they do. Multiple teachers have 20+ year legacies, while others are former alumni, and still others started as homeroom moms and are now on the administrative staff! What makes them stay? Their dedication to educating children and providing a faith-based environment, their devotion to their teaching ministry, and the amazing staff they work with every day to shape our children into kind, responsible young people. It isn't just the teachers who have this legacy, but it's also the parents. In fact, there are some families who have sent three generations to the school! Like my husband, many former graduates send their children to OLPH. This is what makes the community unique and special. Then, there is the academics. With small class sizes and highly qualified teachers, your child will be set up for success. Besides the core subjects, every class from K-8 learns Spanish. Additionally, the school has a Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) room where creativity blooms. Lastly, as a faith-based school, religion is interwoven into the curriculum. The day begins with morning prayer and students volunteer to do readings over the loud speaker for all to hear. With weekly Mass and Sacrament preparation included in the day, children become full members of the church by the end of the third grade. Not Catholic? No problem! Although religion is a required part of the curriculum, receiving the Sacraments is a personal choice and many families choose our school with different religious or non-religious beliefs. We have a great sports program, wonderful pre- and post-school care, after school homework help, and so many fun enrichment programs to extend the day. We even have a Transitional Kindergarten program! We are a tremendous feeder into parochial high schools, with most of our 8th graders feeding into Brophy, Xavier, Notre Dame and others. Go take a tour today. I promise you won't be disappointed!

The price is very reasonable the only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of all the additional costs that add up like uniforms and many other things. The campus is safe and secure with locked gates and cameras. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to send your children here.

Villa Montessori School - Primary Lesson with Mary

We're going into our 8th year as a Villa family and I am so grateful for this wonderful school…read more Both my kids are thriving socially and performing at or above grade level, based on state testing. It's true that if you're looking for a very rigorous/college prep academic experience, this likely isn't the right fit for your family. Villa seems to focus more on fostering curiosity, creativity, independence, community, and leadership. And yet, proficiency in reading, writing and math somehow just seem to happen. Our kids' teachers have been so caring and exceptional at creating a safe and positive classroom community where learning happens naturally. The handful of times I've brought a concern or request to administration, they have been extremely receptive and taken action where needed. It's clear the staff and teachers really care about the kids and their families. No school is perfect, of course, but Villa is a great fit for our family and I'm certain they will be well-prepared for high school when the time comes, both socially and academically.

Who would've thought quality daycare comes with applications and long waitlists? 5 months before I was due, I started researching and scheduling tours. I had heard nothing but stellar things about Montessori. That combined with Villa's infant room, almost unheard of at these schools, was an immediate draw for me. I don't want to bore you with the details but after several postponements of our tour, unresponsiveness from staff members, and clear internal miscommunications, we never even got to see the facility. I had to go out of my way to try and establish a relationship. After several attempts, I wrote an email advising we would not be pursuing childcare at their facility. The director went above and beyond to contact me and asked if we could set up a phone call. I agreed but did not receive a call at the scheduled time -- icing on the cake. I experienced a huge lack of professionalism with Villa that I'm not willing to risk translating into something more serious in care of my LO.

It has been in existence for well over 30 years (and the prices are reminiscent of 1985! Just sayin'). My former husband attended here (in the same building) and so when our oldest turned 3, we enrolled him. He loved it (he is now 15, still with fond memories of MLC). Now my youngest, almost 4, has loved it too. I love that he skips in when I drop him off and is beaming and happy when I pick him up. This is TRUE Montessori, and it has been so wonderful to watch all 3 of my kids blossom and become more of themselves in the Montessori method-- confident, self assured and capable. I'll be so sad the end of next year when I won't have any more kiddos to come here! Check out this school! Ms. Larissa runs it now (her mother Ms. Christine opened it decades ago) and you won't be disappointed.

I got a very warm welcome from the principle,MS Christine. She showed me the school and the programs she teaches. She also really paid attention to my son for the first time even though we did not make an appointment. We just walked in!! She uses all real materials/objects in teaching not just plastic toys like any other places. She seems to know how to discipline the children in a right way. I am totally in love with this school. I think she has no ratings because people do not know about her school much. . It is a home preschool setting with a lovely teacher. Not much advertising. I will definitely thinking about enrolling my son here.
