I have had the pleasure of enrolling both my children (currently 3.5 and 1.5) at the Bloomfield campus. My daughter started in the toddler room at 18 months and my son in the infant room at 9 months. The teachers we have had direct experiences with (Ms. Gunes, Ms. Alaa, Ms. Layla, Ms. Blanca, and all of the classroom assistants) have treated us like family from the very beginning. The Montessori curriculum has been wonderful for our children - learning practical life skills and independence while also expanding their social and emotional development. Every week, I am impressed by what my kids have picked up academically, even at their young ages. Whether it be geography, letter/sound recognition, manners, counting, or about different cultures and religions - it's apparent the school is passionate about their curriculum. In addition, the teachers and administration plan so many fun activities and events throughout the school year, including annual trunk or treats, winter concerts, class holiday parties, field days/trips, and parent education sessions, to name just a few. The staff spend a great deal of time organizing and facilitating these events (usually after normal work hours) and that does not go unnoticed. Communication has been great for us. Individual student group chats are set up at the beginning of the school year for parents to communicate with the teachers and administration, which we have found very helpful. The staff promptly inform of us any incidents and are quick to respond if we have a question or concern. They also utilize two apps to share pictures/videos of the kids, class updates, and school wide announcements. All of these have allowed us to feel connected with the school, other families, and we are very appreciative of the open communication. On a more personal note, my son has several food allergies (7 in total), which presents daily challenges for our family. The head infant room teacher (a literal angel on earth!) and administration have done everything and more to help ease our stress and anxiety and accommodate his needs, starting well before he even entered the classroom. As a parent, you are always worried about your kids well-being, this is amplified even more when your child has severe food allergies, but I know I can rest assured that my son is in the best of care here. This school has been a safe haven for both of my kids, and I will forever be grateful for them helping shape my kids' early education experience.

There was a simple miscommunication when it came to his diapers (super minor) and the teacher rectified it right away and contacted me to clarify/discuss. The teacher and/or school are always reaching out, even for something simple, to keep me and my husband apprised and informed. We appreciate this so much and truly find it to be a reflection of those they hire to nurture and educate the children. We find their COVID protocols very well followed, and we're not nervous sending our son here a few days a week. The staff, teachers and administration always greet us at pick up/drop off and make us feel like our sons going to a special place and loved. In reference to the other comment on curriculum, they're under 2 years. They are just getting acclimated to going to school, let alone the ability to do a true art masterpiece. I think that's a bit unrealistic when it comes to an expectation of artistic ability at that age. Our son has come home with some really great art projects and we're really happy with his progress being he's not even 18 months old. He's learning so much already and we're grateful. Overall, we're very happy with Ridgewood Montessori and will continue to send our son for years to come (as long as everything stays as great as it's been!). From the incredible teacher to student ratio, personal education plan for each child, and all students in the elementary school even learn a real instrument (mine is learning guitar) ... the list goes on and on. I have even been impressed by the amazing handling of the past 2 years of Covid protocol.... All impressive!! I personally feel that these children have had the most "normal" school experience possible during the past two years giving them support and consistency that children need. Teachers are very responsive to emails and always make themselves available both before and after school for any concerns both in person and via zoom. Administration knows all the children by name and engages with them regularly. We came from another private school where our experience was disheartening and are so happy to have found our Ridgewood Montessori School Family!

When my original plans for childcare fell through, Ms. Diane was extremely accommodating and the process of getting my daughter enrolled was quick and seamless. The school is clean, welcoming and every staff member is fantastic. The care for the children is definitely evident. It's more than just a job to the teachers, I know they truly care about my daughter like their own family. The communication through the app is amazing. They are easily reached, all information timely posted, as well as pictures and updates of her day. Further, the activities, projects, etc. that they do with the kids even start in the toddler room. Just today, I received a picture of my daughter (18 months) sitting for circle time. Amazing! Ms. Diane is on top of everything, and although kids do/will spread germs, Ms. Diane keeps it contained. She constantly updates the parents about any issues and responds to concerns immediately! I have two children that are currently in pre-k 4 and pre-k 2. I, proudly, am the definition of a helicopter mom lol. Nevertheless you could imagine how hard it was for me to let go. With that said, the warm loving teachers @ RMS helped me and my babies make the transition into school. Ms. Peggy has an amazing way about her, both my children were weary to start and she handled both introductions incredibly! My daughter took more time to adjust, she was getting herself so worked up that she literally made herself sick. By the 5th class she finally had a great day! Ms. Diane kept me informed about everything daily and was so kind to send me pictures to put my mind at ease! I absolutely love the curriculum at RMS! My son is learning Spanish, and actually retains the information to use it at home. He is always so proud to tell me what his job of the week is, who he worked with, how they dressed "Rosie" the smartboard calendar tool (which is his favorite topic lately). The Montessori program is wonderful at teaching children independence, my kids now ask "Mommy can I set the table? Mommy can I help clean up my toys?
