If you don't already know, Once Upon A Child is a resale store for children's clothes and items…read moresuch as toys, winter accessories, books, games, and shoes. It's a large space with rows upon rows of clothes for infants up to big kids. The first time I came here, there was some kind of sale, so I was able to score a bag of really nice clothes, some with tags still attached for $20!! Amazing! The next time I was here, there was not such a sale, and just a few items rang up quite a bit. I also didn't find as much that I liked for him, either. The clothes are organized by age and sometimes type of clothing and/or coloring, but occasionally they'll be scattered throughout, and often the wrong size or gender. It only bothers me when I find something I love in a certain area and find out it's the wrong size. Toys, games, books, are around the perimeter of the store. Specialty items (like Matilda Jane clothes) will be on their own rack or display. Hit or miss. I'll probably make a run out here when the seasons change or my kid's size changes quickly and I need a bunch of outfits for him. Or if I really want that designer pair of shoes available here for a lower (but not that cheap) price. But otherwise, I'm one of those people that is content with Walmart clothes or the stuff on sale at Kohl's. Kids grow so fast!

They both had new tags on them but looked like they had been worn out and tags reattached to trick you into thinking they were new. I can get a brand new pair at Walmart for $29. So I didn't buy them of course. I have sold to them before. They take hardly any of the items and most of my items are brand new with tags or worn once and in great condition and leave them and take the ones that you wouldn't think they would but. I'm lucky to get $20 from them. Several years ago I could sell a bag and get $50-60. I'm done shopping there. They are way too expensive for used clothing

So I…read moresuppose I should have heeded the other reviews before coming here but I usually donate my unwanted kids items and thought hey I can make a few bucks why not. The drop off was alright I had to fill out a form on their tablet and then sign. It was easy. They called me within a few hours the first time and they called me the next day the second time. The first time I had a huge bag of clothing and a few baby items as well as a like-new boppi pillow and several items with tags on. I got $27 and was like hmm ok well I'll be more careful with my next time so I can get more for my items. So this second time, I brought baby toy sets that were gently used, 2 kids bathing suits both with tags on, several great condition baby toys that were hardly used. I got $8. So it's better than nothing but also it's a little sketchy. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the customer service is sub par. Idk I am going to try once upon a child, it's across town but has much better reviews.

This was a party I had already paid for, and that we had planned for weeks. We bought her a new pretty dress, she invited girls from her school that she wanted to be her friends (she's had troubles with making them), and I went all out. Yes, I know that no amount of money can replace the love I feel for her or the hurt she feels when girls at her school don't like her, but dammit, I was going to do what I could to make her 10th birthday party one that would knock everyone's socks off. I'm a mom. I wanted to help. To show up at that place and find it empty, well, it blew that plan to bits. I was embarrassed, she was embarrassed. I asked the moms if they would meet across the street at pizza hut, and they were gracious, and they did. The party I wanted Ella to have didn't happen. I know there's a lesson here for me and for her, I know we shouldn't place importance on material things or on trying to impress other people. But I wanted her to shine, you know? I wanted her to be a princess for a few hours. She made the best of it, and she was a trooper. She didn't cry until we got in the car to go home. DON'T GO TO THIS BUSINESS!! This happened to my Granddaughter yesterday! How low can you go??? This company took it to Hell.

"I don't want customers like you"…read more If I could give 0 stars I would. New ownership, horrible customer service. I was told that the items in the back-"winter merchandise and accessories" were 50%. I checked out and as I was leaving heard the owner tell her daughter, " you didn't give her the discount.." I added up the price in my head and thought it was correct and left the store. I didn't take my receipt because I knew I wouldn't be bringing the two items back. After reviewing the merchandise and tags I realized I wasn't given 50% off the winter coat, today I checked my bank statement and decide to contact them. I called up and the daughter answered, said she couldn't handle it and got "her boss". When the lady answered the phone she was on a personal call on the other line, "I'll have to call you back, I have a customer on the phone." I guess I was a bother because the conversation was horrible. I told her the situation and she told me, "some people have been taking things back there and leaving them". I explained that it is a winter item. She was nice enough to look up the items: she first looked up the jacket and said nothing. She then looked up the dress and told me the dress wasn't on sale, that she knew that because they just got it in. "I know the dress wasn't on sale, I'm calling about the jacket - it was on sale." She said, "no it wasn't that someone must have put it back there by mistake. We should start marking them so we can tell". I'm not an idiot. She didn't say anything about the jacket, she ignored it and mentioned the dress. She kept repeating people keep moving things back there and they don't mark them on the tag. That would be fine if her daughter hadn't have told me, "I just moved stuff back and rearranged; winter and accessories are on sale." I told her if I can't get the discount, I'd like a re-fund. She saw me in the store on Saturday, she saw what I purchased but refused because I didn't have my receipt. And made the excuse again, a customer must have moved it back there. I told her I was upset and didn't appreciate her making excuses. It wasn't a customers fault, it's theirs for not marking and not cleaning up. It also was a part of the winter, which was on sale. I reminder her she told her daughter, "you didn't give her the discount". I told her that she and both her daughters were in the store both times I've been in, I've never seen them working, they are sitting down behind the desk. You can't blame, misplacement of product on customers, if you aren't straightening, marking correctly, and keeping items tidy. Plus, it was a winter jacket-for Christmas time, a lightweight uncut corduroy that would go over a dress. They said winter was on clearance and in the back trim, where I grabbed it. She then yelled, "I don't want customers like you". I asked for the discount again and she offered a store credit for return. All I wanted was the $11 plus for the discount or a refund for the entire item. I didn't want a store credit because I never plan on shipping there again. I told her I'd dispute it with my credit card company and she said so "now you're stealing". I told her no I'm disputing the charge for the item that should have been discounted and she said that's stealing I explained, I wasn't disputing for the entire amount but the $11. She then yelled at me and hung up. I mentioned the other dress I bought. I didn't even mention this to her but I will here-I bought it for $8.99 which is really cheap for the store but when I got home you could clearly see the color fading. (Red onto the white). I couldn't notice in store, maybe they didn't either but that's their job to notice quality and condition. It's not worth $8.99. Also, when I was leaving on Saturday, I mentioned they should try selling the Mamaroo on Facebook Marketplace. The owner asked, what's that? I explained and she said I don't know what that is, I don't what's back there. It's frustrating that not only do the new owners not know what's in their store and where the items are but they also don't know baby products. I'm so disappointed in this service and how I was treated. I can't believe anyone would act this way to a customer over $11 and then say what she did. Especially when they are in the wrong. I should have kept my receipt, I should have checked the prices before leaving but I didn't that's on me. Horrible business practices and bad customer service. Of course she doesn't know me, she also doesn't know that i use to bring my daughter in and try clothes on near the couch and she would model for the workers (she's 17mo). She doesn't know typically I spend $100 plus each visit and live around the corner and frequented before the pandemic.

The owner was present and goes out of her way to make one feel welcomed. I found everything I went in searching for, and dangerously awesome deals! Ha! The new location is smaller, but I find myself in a clear head shopping there rather than Bombarded with so many items and simply overwhelmed (if that makes any sense.) Great all around!
