Called HMO for a new doctor and chose this one because of how close we are to it. Should of gone to check it out 1st. The office is old and it reeks of cigarettes and BO. The waiting room is filled to capacity. Decided to wait. Waited an hour to be called back, only to wait in an exam room another 30 mins. Dr comes in, sits and is out of the room in 3 mins. Did not have many other options so I have figured for what we need this is fine. Well over the course of 6 months, this office has lost labs, had us wait hours at a time. Doctor still comes in the room and says nice to meet you. Oh and one more thing that we just laugh about. My husband is seen here as well, and is diabetic. Dr comes in the room and tells him. Your eyes have another 10 years, your kidneys maybe 8 years, ok see you next month. Thanks fortune teller....thanks!! Its time to move on, new patients be aware. read more

I had just moved from San Joaquin county (Lodi) to Stanislaus county (Ceres). I was in need of a doctor to continue my psychiatric medications so I selected Dr Meetinder Rai in Modesto CA. My first appointment was in December of 2015. When the doctor came in I explained what medications I needed to be continued and provided him with the corresponding prescription bottles. He told me I would need to take a drug test and get my medical records transferred to him before any medication would be prescribed. I took the drug test and 20 minutes later he told me that I had passed. He also told me that I needed to take a nebulizer and a regiment of azithromycin for preventative reasons. I thought that was unusual but I complied. When I left the office I called my Doctor in Lodi and began the medical records transfer. I was scheduled for another appointment 2 weeks later. When I went it for the second visit I told him I started the medical records transfer and that I was now out of my medications and my symptoms were becoming uncontrolled and worsening. He told me that he hadn't received my records yet and that until he did there was nothing he could do and I was turned away. I continued to call the office 3 times a week until finally I was told my records had arrived on February 21st2016. I had now been out of my meds for 2 months and my symptoms were worse than they had ever been. I scheduled an appointment for that same Thursday February 25. When the doctor came in he scanned my medical records and confirmed with me the prescriptions I needed. He only looked at the first 10 pages or so or at least 50 pages. He said he would have no problem starting me back on them provided I pass another drug test. I complied. 20 minutes later he came in and told me I had passed the drug test but we had another problem. He told me that I had been prescribed a narcotic (norco) on 3 occasions during the past year. I attempted to explain to him that I have suffered from chronic migraines since I was 17 and was always continually prescribed that. I had gotten those prescriptions from the local urgent care and the ER at Memorial because at that time I didn't have a primary care provider. He interrupted me and said that the circumstances did not matter and became angry. He told me that he "knew" I was a drug addict and a High Risk patient and that I would have to get my medications from another doctor. He then told me that I was dropped as a patient, he also said he was going to call the CVS pharmacy and cancel the remaining refills on my asthma medications. He also told me that due to my medical history he felt threatened and had a member of his staff escort me out of his office. Not one time did I raise my voice or even become hostile in any way. I have been suffering from extreme anxiety and depression and I just wanted my symptoms to be back under control. I am now left with no Doctor and must restart this ENTIRE process over again with a new doctor. I can't even begin to tell you how upset and disappointed I am that I escalated to this. Dr. Rai turned me away multiple times when all I wanted was to continue my psych meds that I have been on since 1999. I also noticed that many patients would go back to the exam area and come back out in less than 5 minutes with a prescription in hand. Very knowledgable doctors and caring/Compassionate doctors and staff.. These doctors have been working in the area and have been my doctor for over 20 years now since I was a kid. Now that I myself am in my final year of medical school I can say with confidence that these doctors knows their stuff and will get you appointments with specialists promptly if needed. I have now worked with hundreds of doctors over the course of my medical school career and I can say this doctor and her staff rank in the top 5 in my humble opinion. To the previous poster who didn't "claim" to have a good experience my response: what does not taking credit card have to do with how good of a doctor someone is? Second you complain about copayment but then you demand to see a specialist when your doctor doesn't feel you need to see one and is probably saving you a copay at the specialists office; remember sometimes what makes a good doctor is one that will not pander to your wishes and actually do what is in your interest and not just what will make you happy at that moment.. Thirdly I do believe these doctor spend adequate time with their patients.. No primary care doctor at any office I'd going to spend an hour or even thirty minutes with you.. You can thank the US goverment for making Medicare and medical payments so little to primary docs .. Trust me these docs spend more time with you than 95% of docs I worked with. All in all these are good docs and staff from my experience with them and my comparison to other docs I have worked with in medical school..From what I hear both Dr.Rai's are some of the busiest and well respected doctors in the Modesto/Ceres area. Sorry for my rant regarding the other persons review.. I got this doctor from Obamacare and not much choice. It was a woman doctor seemed nice at first. I asked for a physical because it has been years and I have some sun damage to my skin and minor issues. She order an EKG? didn't even look NOT once at the spot I was concerned about give a prescription and a recheck in 2 weeks. Without looking at it or taking notes she will have NO idea if it's better worse or what!!!! Worse DR!!!! Not even sure she is a doctor. Then if this wasn't bad enough. She took a PERSONAL phone call and told me to hold on!!!!! I will go back to see her and also report her to every place known to man. This person is awful. read more

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. I have NEVER EVER in life felt more disposable and unimportant than I did at this office. This is with out a doubt, the dollar store of doctors offices. Dirty, run down building. Impatient, uncaring doctor. You will see how painfully obvious this "heathcare professional" makes it that you are just a paycheck from the State to them. When I first walked in the office and signed in, the receptionist did not even acknowledge my presence, no hello, good morning, nothing. The doctor isn't much better! She was very unprofessional, the way she talked, the way she dressed she had on dirty flip flops with her hair barely combed. And the facility is disgusting! I seen this Dr. Rai a few days ago and he's Unprofessional cause I'm Disabled and he kicked me out of his office cause I had questions about my medications that I've been taking and he just gets upset and wants to have me take less or not help me as if he specializes in spinal cord injury so he ended up kicking me out of his office and said don't come back not even giving me a prescription for my my blood thinner and I have a few days left with no doctor to help me so I filed a report with my insurance against Dr. Rai so if anything happens with me then I'm going after him other than that I don't recommend this Doctor he doesn't care what so ever he needs to lose his license if he is a Doctor cause that is wrong what he did to me and no body deserves that... read more

I have been going to see Dr. Meetender Rai now for a yaer. I initial started coming to her after i was released from memorial hospital with a heart condition. She has taken very good care of me over the year and i am pleased with my good health, which i can contribute to the care i have gotten from Dr. Rai. The girls in the office have also taken good care of me. If i have any problem, i know i can call the office and get right in to see her. I never wait to long in the waiting room, maybe a little if they are working me into the schedule. I dont mind. She is a "no nonsense" kind of gal, but thats what i like about her, and i feel she does care about me. She keeps me aware of what i should be doing for my health. I know theres lots of bad reviews about her, but i can honestly say she has taken very good care of me and my health conditions. I think shes a fine doctor read more

I have never been so disgusted with a health facility in my life. The quality if care this facility provides is by far the worst of ever come across. I'm not talking about the kindness of the staff and the quality of cleanliness of this facility. I'm directly talking about the doctor patient care. There have been red flags about filling prescriptions from this facility, for example any narcotics need them and this is where you come for care you cannot get them. The urgency of the staff and doctors when it comes to referrals or refills it's just absolutely horrible. Meaning an emergency referral could take days. When they say a fax with sent most of the time it was not sent. It makes it extremely hard to get better to get proper medications or the proper care. The two doctors on staff should not be in practice they are very kind but the quality of care is appalling. The staff is nice but they also can't perform their job 100% sending simple faxes could be the answer to medical questions their patients need it does not seem like priority when refills need to be refilled it could take days just to get the doctor to sign off or even just to get a message to him or her. read more

Horrible experience with this doctor (Dr. Rai, Meentinder) she seem like she doesn't care for your health, all she seem to care is to charge the insurance and co-payments. I explain my problem and when I wanted some answers she didn't explain it to me. She just gives me the prescription and said I'll see you next week. I been in and out from this clinic and all she does is prescribe me antibiotics, I feel NEGLECTED by this doctor she is not good at all, zero points for this lady. That last review by Tim S. was not the truth of what goes on in that office. Issue #1& 2 Time and Meds: Dr. Rai spends half the time walking into the reception desk answering her cell phone. She rushed me through the intial interview as a new patient, and stated she only wanted to hear what I wanted right now. As a new patient on multiple meds who was in the middle of treatment with a retinologist, (needed a referal) and who is insulin dependent ( I was out), she didn't care to hear anything about what meds I was on or giving me any information on how she was going to continue my care. I practically had to beg for insulin and a referal to continue eye injections with my Retinologist.... My insurance changed recently, and I lost my regular Dr. of 20 years (who was taking excellent care of me). i came to Dr. Rai as the only Dr. available from the new health insurance. I had to wait 3 weeks and was out of insulin the morning of my appt. I gave her my empty box of insulin pens, and she wrote me a RX----but for the wrong insulin delivery system. I'm vision impaired and cant see the numbers on the vials to draw up doses. I gave her the box of quik pens and she still got it wrong. A diabetic cannot go without insulin or death insues period. My eyes were bleeding. It was imperative that I received care appropriate for my condition. I had to call and make two extra trips, a half hour trip each way to her office for the right insulin. Tim S. says Drs. won't spend time with you. LOL. Really???? My Dr. of over 20 yrs did. So now what? Issue #3 and 4: Pt. Privacy and lack of professionalism at front desk I lost my appt. with a dermatologist to remove 2 skin tags, when I lost my other health insurance. Dr. Rai had me pull down my pants to see the skin tag on my inner thigh with the door open next to the waiting room and patients going by...It was humiliating. I returned to the office to have them frozen because they were bothering me but intended on finding another Dr. if possible. Dr. Rai had told me "you don't need a dermatologist". OK. The next week, I'm waiting for my appt. and a lady comes in and is complaining because she's out of medication, and can't get a note/referral for a mammography which another Dr. told her to get. Of course Dr. Rai comes into the reception desk area where she spends too much time in my opinion, Dr. Rai argues with the female patient then threatened to call the police if she doesn't leave. This may not pertain to me, but I spoke to many patients there that day who concurred Dr. Rai did not treat patients very well. Issue #5 Incompetence and undertrained staff: Finally I went in to have my skin tags frozen, my vital signs were taken by a young girl who did not know how to take a pulse and put three fingers in the middle of my wrist and I looked at her and said, "you need to put your fingers on my radial pulse"...... She didn't know how to take a blood pressure either and put the blood pressure cuff around my forearm. The cuff they had was for a child so I guess they didn't have an adult size.....can I assume she thought oh well, the forearm will do... As she took my BP a woman who is not a Dr. came in and asked me what I was there for. LOL. Don't you know? I said. She said "no". So I told her "to freeze 2 skin tags". I got no gown, no cover, she just sprayed (assuming liquid nitrogen) right on my skin without protecting the skin around it. No information. When I asked if it was going to hurt, she said, yeah, "enjoy the pain". I've never seen such incompetence, such arrogance, such lack of caring for a patient in my life. As for the girls in the office, they are undertrained, have a confrontational attitude, they are also arrogant, argumentative, and extremely unpleasant. The equipment in the office is outdated. There was only one person in the whole office who knew there are problems in health care in that office. One of her comment to me after seeing the bums rush I received was "good luck in this office".........that says it all........... read more

This one of the worst Doctors I have been to in my 60yrs. The office was so packed plus very dirty. I wouldn't take my dog there, I have been on nerve meds for over 30 yrs due to panic attacks she said it was WAY to much medication she gave me 20 a lower dosage and told me to never come back for any of that medication because she would not assist me. Told me to find another Dr. after I spent $120.00 So if you have panic attacks she's not the doctor to waste your time on. read more

I was a patient of Dr. M Rai as of recently. And I mean "was" because she and her some of her front desk employees made me decide to search for a new doctor which I have now. I had terrible experience of not having my calls return, maybe twice at the most. Even if your results are normal they want you to make an appointment to tell you in person. That is just another way to charge for a office vist and another co-payment. They only take the cash for co-payments, no checks, no debit cards nor credit cards, only the green cold cash! While getting a pamp smear the doctor and the other person in the room were busy talking about another patient about not having insurance. So, unethetical (sp?)! The worst and painful expericene I had during that exam. Some referrals to specialists happen because I requested it! Dr. made me feel she was always in a hurry to get my visit over, didn't make me feel she cared for me as her patient but just another number. Two other patients shared with me they preferred the male Dr. Rai (her husband) than her. And 1 switched to the male Dr because she said the wife Dr is not very nice. While getting prep for a EKG I asked the young lady the question.."Is she a good doctor?" and she said"NO" and that her husband is better. She said she over heard a patient crying and shouting in pain during her pamp smear exam! AND many times while waiting in the lobby the front desk look unproffessional because it look like more of a place to be hanging out. Not saying the girls did not work, but some look like they would take their break there and eat and chat away about personal stuff. I should have terminated this office sooner so I wouldn't have had my blood pressure raise at times. I feel so relieved I found a new doctor! Now I will see if they transfer my medical records to the new office in a timely manner! I do have something positive to say...never a problem with parking, there is amble parking. Overall, I would not recommend this Dr or this office cause from my personal experiences they gave me and what the employee and another patient said. read more
