Chrissy in the office was very helpful and called back my voicemails quickly. There's a pool and mini golf on the grounds which are nice but far enough from sites that you can't hear them from your site. Bass Lake recreation is a short drive from here and has great swimming, beach area, boating, and fishing! Definitely recommend it here.

Although we hate it due to lack of preparation, but it was indeed, one of the memorable experiences. At night, we built the camp fire and watching the stars. The lack of hot water and electricity were major issues for us. The weather temp was pretty cold in the morning (around low 50s), and there was no hot water for us to take a shower. Also, very limited power outlets..... But what hell, this is my 1st time and camping is suppose to be living away from the civilization and technologies. I really enjoy the stay at Wolf River Campground, and I highly recommend everyone and anyone to do it. PS: By the way, the rafting was 6.3 miles. So make sure you wear like winter because you will get wet, and the water is going to splash you with no mercy + beer is allowed

With the new ownership of this campground, they appear to be going above and beyond to be sure their campground is updated. We chose this campground in 2015 and are so pleased that we did. The host is easy to work with but assures that all the campers are treated well and the owner continues to improve the campground. We love having the entire Chain O'Lakes at our disposal. The golf course is just down the road, so when we have guests they an golf also. Several of their docks are new and improved. Also, having the Tiki Bar so close offers food and a fun place to hang out if you just need something different. It was absolutely the right choice for us.

Boot Lake Recreation Area is wonderful park on the shores of Boot Lake…read more There's a hiking trail, beach and swimming area, as well as a campground. We recently stayed in the campground, which was great. Their sites are large and offer plenty of privacy. We were in spot #26 (there's only one loop of camping spaces, so it's definitely on the smaller side) and it was a long campsite with our trailer nestled at the back. We had tons of privacy with a canopy of pines overhead. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. There aren't hookups but they do have clean and well maintained pit bathrooms (no showers or plumbed bathrooms). Like most campgrounds, they ask that you purchase your firewood within 10 miles of the campground, which was easily done. We purchased a huge load for $20 at a nearby house. The lake itself is gorgeous (so clear!) and we enjoyed kayaking and swimming. We stumbled across a rope swing and had fun swinging into the lake. There's a hiking trail that seems to go around the entire lake. We took it about 1/4 of the way before turning around but had we had more time would have made for a fun (long!) hike! One of our favorite campgrounds thus far in Wisconsin! Get to it!

Bear Paw Outdoor Adventure is a gem you must try.. you will go back…read more. If you are interested in camping or staying in a nice cabin, this place is for YOU! It has everything from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, ATVs, you name it... The campgrounds are set up for small/individual groups to larger groups. Volleyball, hammocks a basketball hoop and other fun things are all around. The cabins are very clean and nice, AC/heat, private bathrooms and showers with nice hot water. Comfortable beds and linens. Then there is the awesome bar and restaurant. Order the Pizza or flatbread, it is excellent, and being from Chicago we know pizza! Eric is a fantastic cook and anything on the menu will taste great. The bar offers all sorts of beers and any other drink you want. Eric and Tom run this place, they know the area well and Eric is an expert on just about anything outdoors. Very friendly place and people. The mountain biking is awesome and if you are a mountain biker you MUST make this trip. The trails in the Nicolet National Forest are some of the best in the Midwest. Beautiful, single track, a bit technical in places, boulders, and the scenery is always beautiful. You may even see a black bear. Trails are well marked in the Nicolet. Rafting the Wolf River is exciting too, or you can kayak it as many kayakers come from all over the Midwest to kayak here. We are rafters, we love it, usually see a bald eagle or 2, lots of turtles, and just a great time. We like to go to Herb's Rafting which works out of Crab and Jacks, a bar/restaurant where a lot of motorcycle riders stop. It is always fun around Memorial Day when there are tons of kids camping at Bear Paw and then rafting the river. They get out at Crab and Jacks where there are numerous Harley Davidsons and riders watching all of this. Quite the different groups of people doing what they enjoy. Thanks to Eric for being such a great guy and Tom with some stories....oh boy, get Tom to tell you some stories... he loves that .... Simply the most beautiful spot in all of Wisconsin. This park has a nice campground along the…read morePeshtigo River, and the park itself has trails snaking all over. Stop in here for a breathtaking view of the Peshtigo from one of the picturesque foot bridges that criss cross the numerous islands and side channels and the entrance of Swamp Creek into the Peshtigo. The islands themselves have quaint little cabins that can be used to protect your food from the insects and the elements during a summer picnic, party, or family reunion. There are numerous grills and firepit/grills with chimneys. These things are so cool! The park looks like it should be teaming with trout because it is home to every type of prime trout habitat. Within 100 yards there are rapids, riffles, pools, runs, pocket water, sand and boulder structure, timber, and more. However, I have yet to ever see much less hook into anything. But it is nice to enjoy such a beautiful scene. There is a trail that connects this park to Goodman Park. Be careful to go left when nearing the beaver dam, as the trail skirts the damn, and it is treacherous if you are in a hurry.

We got engaged during our weekend trip up north and it was perfect to come back to the campground, enjoy our cabin and have a nice fire. It was even more special to share our experiences of the day with others around the campground. They have a great team that helps them in the summer, especially Eddy and his family. We went Rafting on the Wolf river with Eddy and he is such an interesting, knowledgeable, and fun guide. Our trip down the river was more than just a fun recreational activity as he had lots of good advice and clues for us to have a successful marriage. Big Smokey Falls rafting company, who they work with, is a fantastic partner. We also did a solo tubing trip on a more calm section of the river and transportation was provided for us! River Forest Campground also has a new music venue in the back corner of the property that would be a great place to hold small outdoor events, live bands, or even weddings! I would highly recommend a getaway here!
