Radisson Blu was not the only buffet restaurant we ever tried, so I couldn't say we're still "naive" when it comes to eating at buffets.
As a food and travel blogger, the first few things I notice are the :
1) Environment (Were we comfortable the entire time?)
2) Customer service (Was the staff polite, attentive, uptight, intimidating, nosy, annoying, etc. ?)
3) Sanitation (Were the food and drinks served clean, fresh or new?)
---
Everything else is a choice between a "Yes" or "No" :
4) Can we afford it?
5) Can we travel that far?
6) Are we willing to wait for 15 minutes or so?
7) Is it worth spending on?
8) Was the food served hot?
9) Was it delicious?
10) Are we coming back?
Eating at Feria was great. It was so spontaneous. The concierge assisted us to our seats. Before we finished our meals, one of the employees asked if their food and service was okay. So I said, "Yes, it was!" and then paid our bill.
Before we decided to leave, we took a quick tour of the hotel just to make the most out of our time there. Unfortunately, we took "the wrong turn". On the corner, around 3-4 hallway guards stopped us from entering God-knows-what was after that long hallway.
Okay, okay... I understand there are "rules" everywhere. So, we did not insist on going farther from where we were standing. What I did not understand was the fact that those guards did not clarify to us that, "Sir/Mam, ANYTHING except the food inside the buffet restaurant cannot be captured on camera."
So, I was left thinking that it was okay to resume taking photos at the lobby, because who does not take photos or selfies these days? You can even find people taking selfies inside a smelly public restroom such as bus terminals or gasoline stations, let alone in a well-maintained hotel such as Radisson Blu. Lol.
Now, on our way to the lobby (away from the restricted hallway), another set of 3-4 (maybe more) guards escorted us outside of the hotel, while one of them was talking to the hallway guards on the radio as if we were armed or, something. Then, I had to defend myself by repeatedly saying, "I'm sorry. I mean no harm. I'm a food and travel blogger. I film everywhere." Lol.
It was really an intimidating and shameful experience! Are we coming back? Well, only if it's "Free hotel accommodation". Lol.
Kidding aside, the guards did a great job in securing the hotel and its customers, but I just thought that they should have focused more on "suspicious" people (not us).
I'll just have to blame this experience on being "Friday the 13th".
