Oh WOW. Where do I begin. I called asking for a head unit with navigation and Sirius as I will be transferring from a car I just sold. They gave me a price. OK, so far so good as it was less expensive than others. Keep in mind, this was a brand new car with less than 100 miles on it. When I came to pickup the car, no satellite radio. I asked them and they said that was an additional unit and cost. I told them I specifically said I needed that and was transferring service. We settled on reduced price and left. When I came back, Sirius was installed but I could not use the fader function. I told them and they said it's because head unit would need an additional amp as stock one did not work with it. I asked why I wasn't told about that, and this is what he told me: "Didn't think I needed to. I mean, nobody has ever asked about that feature working before. " WHHAAAAAT????? I swear, you can't make this stuff up. I was furious. More argument. Fine. Install amp, I'll pay a bit more for it. They said they installed something that would make controls on steering wheel work, but only volume and changing stations up and down worked. Nothing else. I was done. They installed the microphone by the gauges on plastic clip that broke within a month. As time went on, things started to stop working little by little so decided to get everything replaced at a different place which I will review after it's done and hope for a good experience. What I saw when they removed the unit made me sick and angry (posted photo). One of the worst wiring I've ever seen. Shocking it didn't create additional electrical problems. Definitely would never recommend this place and will never return. read more

I was in the market for a backup camera, blue tooth, iPhone integration, radio and navigation for a 2004 Lexus SC 430. I found out in my research going to various shops in Tampa and Pinellas was an experience in terror. I discovered that over half of them did not convenience me they were capable of performing the right installations. From doing my homework there were only two that answered all my questions and put me at ease. I selected Auto Active because of their quote which was half of the other expert in the market. Auto Active performed the project in a timely manner with two thumbs up. I am very satisfied and delited I chose them for my project. I had to return to this business. I was in a hurry and a more than a little frustrated. I was confused on the operation of the alarm. The remote wasn't doing what I thought it should. Stopped by without an appointment. I received excellent customer service. They were more helpful than the 800 number. The system works great. My radio started sputtering and working only intermittently. I know that anything electronic has a life expectancy and my Miata was now 30 years old, but I thought it was indestructible as it has only had a couple of issues over the decades. I stopped at Radioactive to ask what would cause the problem and they were great. From my description alone, they were pretty certain that the problem was due to a blown or shorted speaker. Thought about it for a while and returned 2 weeks later to have them check it out. Sure enough, one of the Boston door speakers was shot and I opted to not only replace both of the speakers with Kickers, but to also get an updated new Kenwood radio with BT. They did the installation same day in about 90 minutes and the finished product is awesome. Looks great and sounds fantastic. I'd recommend these guys to anyone for radio service. Where do I start this place is pretty cool I was sent here to taken repair the amplifier in the G35 for my son. Not only did they take and get me the best price on a Bose amplifier to replace his amp but why was here. We upgraded my factory Ford radio to one with carplay navigation I'm Bluetooth. Also they added two 10-inch woofers underneath the backseat of my truck it sounds amazing but it really showed me the lack of Separation with my front speakers so we upgraded those as well. This system is banging now it sounds amazing because we had a 5 channel amp from Kenwood that took in did the back speakers the woofers and the front speakers even came with a 2-year warranty. I'm coming back as soon as I can get back on their schedule to do my boat speakers and 1/2 an alarm upgraded in my wife's vehicle. I'm very very impressed with this place. This reminds me of the shops that I used to deal with back in New Jersey. The owners really cool the guys at work here are quite knowledgeable they seem to be asked questions by other places all day long so this is the shop. read more

I had these guys build a custom subwoofer enclosure for me, and they did an excellent job. It seemed like I was dealing with a new employee there at the time (around may 2013), so it took a little while to relay what I needed in regards to the drawings and the specs I brought in. Once we got past all of that though, I came back a few days later to see they'd built up a killer sealed sub enclosure for 2 JL 12w6v3 subs. I'm rocking the enclosure to this day, and it is build like a tank. The price was a little high at $185.00, but it was better than trying to source once online in one of the specialized audio forums, where elitist b.s reigns supreme. If I ever need another enclosure built, I'll be sure to come back to these guys in a heartbeat. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CAR AUDIO SHOP, IF YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR THERE IS NO RECOURSE TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK, NO RECOURSE TO BE COMPENSATED AT EQUAL VALUE OR TO CORRECT ISSUE. I took my car to this shop to figure out why my 3000W max, 1500W continuous subs were not hitting as hard as they should be. I wanted make sure my wiring was correct, my amp settings were correct and to see if I was missing anything. One of their guys checked everything and said it all looked good except for my subwoofer enclosure. He said with the power that I'm utilizing I'm going to blow my enclosure to pieces. I asked if they sell enclosures and they guy said they would have to custom build one. I paid $428.00 for a custom enclosure and my one request was to build it per the manufacturers recommendations. Within a couple weeks the new enclosure was installed, I went to pick up my car and test out the sound. The bass did not get any better, i did notice a little better range of low frequencies but the subs were not playing a full or best potential. The guy who installed the enclosure said give it a couple weeks and let it break in. About 3 weeks to a month goes by and it's not sounding any better. I end up meeting a car audio guy who does mobile work who also builds enclosures himself and I had him look at my setup and within seconds he 's like "your port is way too small, the enclosure is built for 12s but it looks like you port is built for 10s (mind you no measurements were taken, it was a guess at that moment). I ended up asking him if he could build me an enclosure which he agreed. I paid $225 for my 3rd enclosure and finally my subs are hitting to their full potential. Now the recommendations for my sub's enclosure are the port area is 29.75 square inches per sub and port volume is 1.8 to 2 cubic ft per sub. The port area is the issue, the equation for area is height x width, inside to inside for the port is 12.5 inches in height and 2.75 inches in width which equals 34.375 (12.5*2.75=34.375), again for 1 single sub 29.75 square inches is the recommended port area and 2 are sharing 34.375 square inches. I took the enclosure back to the shop to see if it was possible to get a refund, not for the entire enclosure but the $225 I just spent. I was told no refunds on custom built enclosures but they could build one based off the enclosure I'm using now. I was told they would contact the manufacturer to verify the recommendations and get back to me. 3 weeks go by no contact, no phone call. I left 2 or 3 messages for the owner to call me...he never did. I had to go up to the shop just to be told there's nothing wrong with their enclosure and that it is built per the manufacturers recommendations when clearly the math doesn't add up. We then go back and forth, then on our last call they tell me as long as the enclosure is within 5% to 10% of manufacturers recommendations it's acceptable. Well, which one is it, at first it met their recommendations and now if it's within 5% to 10% of the recommendations it acceptable. This moving of the goal post over the recommendations was the last straw. read more

I had purchased a new car that had a system installed from another local shop and they were able to clean up the the bad install and get the system running at full capacity in short order. Avoid this place like the plague if you want a vintage car stereo repaired. Kevin "worked" on my old Hitachi car stereo. The piece sat on his bench for over six weeks, and he didn't even touch it. I FINALLY got him to repair the belt that runs the cassette player. That repair lasted for less than 30 days, and I am back to square one ($300.00 later). I disputed his work via my credit card. He played the "waiting game", as his work is only guaranteed for 45 days. Now that time has elapsed and I am stuck!!!! He would not return my repeated phone calls to resolve this issue. I have been referred to this shop. By three different companies. Now I know why they are excellent! Went in for a factory navigation/GPS problem. They fixed it in one week. Upgraded my speakers. Got me inside info. on my vehicle to help get an item warrantied. Next week they a putting a smart start remote start alarm thingy that works from my phone. Got a massage last week the lady said her husband has used them for factory radio repairs for 25 years. Spread the news there are still great companies out there! read more
