I especially dislike the canned "top 40" shows that are played on the weekends and evenings. However, I'm giving 4 stars based on a comparison of Q100 with OTHER Top 40 stations I've heard. I'm really not a fan of that sort of thing, so the fact that I am willing to listen to this station at all, ever, means that they are doing something right. I have to grudgingly admit that one of the things they do right is the Bert Show. I grew up in Atlanta, and I learned to hate morning shows after years of tolerating Steve & Vikki, the Regular Guys, and even the Morning X (sorry to all of you Morning X fans... I know there were a lot of you). When the Bert Show first came on, I hated it too. About a year ago, I started listening to the Bert Show every now and again because I decided to get rid of my XM radio subscription. Although I prefer music in the morning to endless talking, the "talk" on the Bert Show is not half bad. The members of the show seem to have good chemistry with each other. I mean, for all I know they hate each other off-mic, but on the air they act like comfortable old friends and I'd rather hear that in the morning than screaming, goofy morning show prank calls (which they keep to a minimum, or redneck humor. Also, the members of the show seem to have a sincere desire to help others in the community. This doesn't mean that I always prefer Q100 in the morning as opposed to one of the few stations in Atlanta that actually plays music. But compared with other Atlanta morning shows, Q100 has the best one, hands-down. And I think that overall, boringly overprogrammed or not, this station is probably about as intelligently programmed as a Top 40 station is going to be.

It has been a while since I have been forced to listen to this poor excuse for a radio station…read more During my early years working at various retail establishments around Atlanta, I could not escape the death grip that Star 94 had on my managers radio station preference, mainly because their crappy music was blasted on every speaker in the store. I would have random thoughts pop into my head like: "If I have to hear that stupid Bare Naked Ladies song one more time, I am going to resign. Then I will run around the store singing 'Its been one week since I looked at you', while making sure I knock every item of clothing off of its hanger, unfold all of the shirts and throw them on the floor." What is with this radio stations typical music lineup anyways? The normal play-list is usually compiled with songs that were hits on other radio station months or years earlier. It is almost like the DJs on Star 94 are in another dimension that is set a year behind the normal time in our dimension. Either that, or Star 94 just prides itself on being the radio station who is always stuck with the musical leftovers.

We got to see how everything looks and works and record our own private scout choice version of some songs in a workroom. The kids all loved being live on air and answering funny questions. They were impressed with how guests can call in and how the weather copter reports during our morning rush hour report time slot. It took a lot of persistence and patience on our part to make it happen but we're so glad we got in and made some great memories with the kids. I think the thing we really got a kick out of was hearing the scout stories of some of our favorite DJs

Singing a little Aretha Franklin R-E-S-P-E-C-T is for sure a day brightener, plus its always funny to blare oldies with your windows down as you pull up to a car playing rap with lots of bass. So much entertainment value too. The talk aspect of the show . . .well, let's just say I'm not quite their target market. But for them to dust off the oldies so this girl can belt out some (seriously) old skool goods earns four stars.
