Excellent tour, everything well explained. At the end, a tasting of their two beers. Good time. We look for their beer whenever we can find it back here in the USA. read more

Watzke is a better choice than the numerous tourist traps just on the other side of the bridge in…read moreold town. The atmosphere is the best feature; fun and a bit loud. They ring that giant bell periodically and have live music. Still, make no mistake, it's a restaurant for tourists. We sat for lunch and no reservations were required. The beer was good as was the food. You're saving about 5 Euro at Watzke per person by crossing the river for revert same experience you would have had adjacent to the replica buildings in old town. Make the wise choice.

This cut of pork was a bit thicker and so juicy. Yet the crust was crispy and golden. It was perfect. The potato salad was really good too. I had a beer Flight and loved all the beers. They all paired wonderfully with the food. The restaurant is beautiful and bright. Nice outdoor seating as well. One of my favorite meals on my trip!

My mom and I were in Dresden for two nights and wanted good beer and bratwurst. I found this place…read moreonline, and we took off on public transportation. The tram we were on for some reason stopped running, and we don't speak any German, so we didn't know why or what do do. It was raining and freezing, and I wanted to give up, but we eventually made it somehow, and it was worth it. We had an amazing hot pretzel with brie cheese spread to start while we shared a beer sampler to decide what beers we wanted. We then had the best bratwurst I've ever had. It was bursting with flavor and so juicy and tender. The ambiance is wonderful too. It's in this huge old building and there were at least three large dining rooms. We picked the room near the front where cute booths curved all around the room. The back room has great views of the river. The servers were both really lovely and patient as we asked questions and decided on our meal. Wish I could go back!
Great pork knuckle, great beer. I bet this place is a real hoot when there's live music (which…read morethere appears to be once in a while). It's also pretty close to a street car line so even though it seems a bit farther away from the main attractions it's still quite accessible and you should go when you're in Dresden.
