Let's just say I was shocked at our bill after a few hours of hydrating and eating. The burgers are open-grilled and simply amazing. Glad I had it, but there are so many other choices to try. Friendly service, cold beers, and great food. So happy to indulge at a local venue.

Located directly across the street from the downtown Rock Island Holiday Inn, it's a easy stumble to the front desk and so much cheaper and authentic than the hotel bar. My first visit was late afternoon for a beverage after arriving in town. The bartender Tammy and owner Jeff were awesome with making me feel welcome and giving advice for dinner and attractions. My second visit was later that evening after Ubering back from across the river from a concert. A different bartender, but equally as talented in customer service skills ( I wish I could remember her name). A packed house with a mix of locals and people staying at the hotel - which mainly caters to traveling workers for the railroad. A perfectly cluttered and dingy dive bar that's been around many decades with prices that can't be beat. I would most definitely be a regular if I lived there.

We grabbed seats at the bar and started off with a round of drinks--Old Fashioneds and Martinis. Both were excellent. The bartenders here clearly take their craft seriously--my Old Fashioned was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and the Martini (classic gin, of course) was ice cold with a clean finish. Definitely not your average bowling alley cocktails. The space itself is a great blend of upscale lounge and casual fun. It's stylish without being pretentious, with a cool retro vibe and a welcoming crowd. We didn't bowl this time, but the lanes looked great, and it's definitely on the list for the next visit. The overall vibe was perfect for a laid-back evening with colleagues--plenty of energy, good music, and room to unwind without feeling rushed or crowded. If you're in Davenport and looking for a spot that mixes craft cocktails with something a little out of the ordinary, Blackhawk Bowl is absolutely worth checking out. Next time, I'm bringing my bowling shoes.

Have you ever bowled a 9 EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME?!?!?…read more Yeah, me neither. I did every single frame but one, which was a strike. How maddening. Had I not gotten that one strike I would have been convinced that one pin was glued to the floor. LOL. My company holiday party was held here on a Saturday night and we had a blast. (Note: the lounge is only open Wednesday-Saturday evenings, starting at 4PM.) Things that were great-- - The entire vibe. It had cocktail tables throughout and was perfect for mixing and mingling with coworkers. - Shoes. They weren't old and gross! Always a win in my book. - The convenience of having it at the bottom of the hotel and being able to partake/enjoy then just head up the elevator for a good nights sleep. - Pricing for walk-ins seems ok, $5 a game, $4 for shoes. (But call ahead and make a reservation and pay per hour at $35-$45?) - Staff. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. A couple things that wasn't on par-- - The food. We did a pizza bar and it was nothing to write home about. - As other Yelpers have mentioned, the cocktails were not that good. After having one martini I opted for an Aperol Spritz... and the bartender was reading the recipe off the back of the bottle. A for effort. - We rented the entire space for about four hours and half the lanes were out of order randomly? Kind of a bummer. - No Big Ten Network! - Finally, there was a sign that there was a private event at the entrance of the lounge but it wasn't posted anywhere on social. There were multiple groups that were kind of bummed to have driven there and parked to just have to go home. Overall a super fun time. I think if they made a few tweaks (updates, menu changes, etc) this place would be amazing. Overall, Blackhawk Bowl & Martini Lounge is worth a try!

The bartender was our server and did a good job. You can order from the Happy Joes/Rudy's that is next door, or you can order off their bar menu of sandwiches, etc. I think the only difference is how you order - if it's off the bar menu the server takes the order, otherwise you call over to the neighboring restaurant and they deliver it. Two of us got cheeseburgers...they were pretty good-a nice soft bun and a good burger. Fries were OK. The other in our party got the chicken fingers. They were fine, with very nice tender chicken, and an OK coating. Our server was attentive and very pleasant.

But something isn't necessarily better than nothing. We laid into our pizza like ravenous bears emerging from hibernation, and we ended up leaving a third of it for some vulturous billiards players. This was comically bad pizza; think Chef Boyardee on a cracker, topped with only the finest melted string cheese. You don't expect gourmet cooking late at night, but something's gone wrong if you and a few of your booze-numbed buddies can't polish off a mid-sized pie. Some of the other items on the menu might be a bit more palatable. Or edible. There were five or six draught beer taps, but all were wearing the ignoble crown of the plastic solo cup.
