Take a bulletin before the services start and fill out the info card in the back of the seat in front of you, sign up for an event or sign up for our weekly e-newsletter, the Eagle Wing. What are worship services like? The pastor will preach a message based on a scripture passage. We pray that God's spirit is at work through the pastor's study and prayerful preparation. I have kids - what is available? Childcare is available for all children preschool and younger who need it, but we recognize that some families might want to keep children with them in church. Children are welcome to stay through the service. Most of our services have special children's times with a special message just for children. Check out our upcoming events. Check out our upcoming events to see what is new and exciting happening here at St. John. We are here to help. Differently-abled persons worship regularly at St. John. We do our best to accommodate all persons, even when it means some minor disruptions may occur in worship. We are a family, and families accept one another's differences. ASL Interpretation is often available at the 11:15 a.m. service (let the church office know if you need an interpreter and we'll set it up for you.) You are always welcome! St. John is a welcoming congregation and we have mission outreach within the local community, including parents of children at all stages and ages, seniors, crafters, cooks, service organizations, along with international missions, outlying Alaskan communities and the LGBTQ+ community - to name a few. You won't hear words of condemnation in our church. We celebrate the sacraments of communion and baptism together. Communion is offered the first Sunday of the month. Learn more

College away from home, marriage, and children then took up so much of my time that I gave up the practice. But now that everyone in the family is self-sufficient, I began my Anchorage search for where I fit. I tried several denominations as it does not matter which faith with all the same God. I did not return if I was not felt welcome. Five churches later, I found this acceptance at Saint John. Their motto is even "...to be a WELCOMING family joyfully sharing God's light". Now when I am there, I try very hard to look for someone I do not know, whether a member or not, and introduce myself as I know what being an unknown feels like. Will you give us a try? Warmly, Lyn

Anyhow, my boyfriend and I have been church hopping to find one that we both love since we relocated here. We came from two different denominations of Christianity; so we both have our own expectations to how church and services are supposed to be. We have only attended one service here so far but we both love it. We were so welcomed when we were first entered through the door. We didn't feel like we were pressured into be part of their congregation at all. The service was carried out in a relax and family oriented manner. You could bring your drinks and snacks that were provided for in the cafeteria into the service. The sermon was short and meaningful. The decoration was simple but endearing in its own way.
