Erik Bjork Architect - Architecture and Planning

We met with several architects & designers before choosing Erik to do plans for an extensive…read moreremodel. We chose him over the other candidates because he had experience with multi-unit residences, his style meshed with ours and we felt as though we'd be able to work with him over the long haul. The city building officials had also worked with him in the past which was a bonus. He's worked with us when revisions were needed and so far we're all still speaking after the year and a half it took to get the completed plans. He's a busy guy so the plans took much longer than we initially expected but we're pleased with the plans we received. There were some big surprises along the way -probably due to our inexperience with this process. When you don't know -that you don't know-you don't ask the right questions. And that's where my only feedback would be: there's no such thing as too much communication. I'm confident Erik will continue to work with us & the city throughout our building project.

Where do I click for 6 STARS? We hired Rob to design our custom home after firing our Architect…read more(Patterson Design/Build LLC). The contrast could not be more stark. We would suggest something we wanted and Rob went to work on incorporating it. We gave him a spreadsheet of needs and wants and they all showed up in our first drafts. Then we could see where our ideas were bad and adjust accordingly. Our AIA architect, on the other hand, seemed to spend a lot of energy telling us that we did not want what we thought we want. We have finished plans from both sources. We are building what Rob designed, it includes a lot more of what we asked for and is visually more appealing. Who'd of thought? (P.S. Rob was less than 1/3rd the cost.)

This was a prolonged project due to the virus outbreak. We had many ups and downs but in the end a successful result. And in the contract the completion date was set for not more than eight months. After paying 95% of the contract, and having to beg for a roof, garage door, flooring, insulation, interior woodwork, concrete, 15 months later he breached the contract. My wife and I had to take out a loan for over six figures to finish, or it would have sat exposed to the elements. He blamed it on Covid, but if he had completed in the contracted time period, Covid would not have been a factor. And again, it was a fixed contract. We checked with other clients, and one couple paid in full, he completed approximately 30% and told them he was out of money, and if they didn't pay another huge sum it would not be finished. They are elderly and have been living in their backyard in a trailer for two horrific years. Two others had similar sad stories. Michael Lewallen, I believe, underbids, gets you to give a huge down payment and agressively bills each month. I am quite sure he uses your money for other projects, or whatever. If you even think about doing business with him, ask for referrals and talk to customers who have contracted for at least six months. Several of our sub contractors either had a hard time getting paid by Michael Lewallen or had to come to us to get paid - after we had already paid Lewallen. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MICHAEL LEWALLEN.
