They were hired…read moreto mainly properly and professionally seal the new Glen-Gery red brick pavers around the patio doors, 2 other doors and the back wall of my new deck. However, when water touches whatever the white material they used, the material just melts. They were also hired to repair the mortar between about 3 or 4 bricks, matching the existing mortar. However, after two attempts, they could not match the existing mortar, and they just spread their beige colored mortar over the existing light brown mortar. These guys couldn't even remain in the lines, spreading their mortar onto the bricks. Also, after their first attempt to repair the mortar between what was only several pavers, they instead tampered with an entire section of pavers with their mortar that did not match. They couldn't even remain within the lines, sloppily spreading mortar onto the actual pavers. When I complained about their work, Edwin assured me that he could and would match the mortar. But, on their second attempt they again did not match the existing mortar and continued to destroy other sections of the new pavers that did not need to be repaired. They were also hired to power wash the deck, the old existing pavers on the steps, the columns supporting the deck and the blue stone patio beneath the deck, but that was never done. Most importantly, they were hired to seal the new pavers, and this is when they completely destroyed almost $3,000 worth of new Glen-Gery pavers. Whatever they used to seal the red pavers bleached them completely white in some sections of the deck, and partially white on most of the pavers on the deck and the existing pavers on the steps. It's impossible to be this incompetent by accident. I chose this company because they have 59 five-star reviews on their website along with pictures of their work, displaying quality workmanship. However, this company's advertisement displaying quality workmanship has to be bogus based on the extremely poor quality of their workmanship on my property, completely destroying my new expensive pavers. If possible, I would provide pictures of my deck, displaying their horrific workmanship. I also have filed a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC).

We first hired Max and his team to add a driveway to our rental property as it was just a bare yard before. Max's team did an amazing job start to finish on this project. From meeting us and planning to scheduling and the work that was accomplished (all under a week). We were so satisfied with Chesapeake Concrete Solutions work that we reached back out to Max for an estimate on having our concrete patio dug up and redone as well as expanded to the end of the house. Again, an amazing job start to finish. When Max came by to see how we liked the new patio I joked and said man it's so great that I really wish you guys do asphalt because our drive at our house is draining water towards the house and basement that it'd be great to hire a company like yours but for asphalt driveways. Max laughed and said we actually do asphalt driveways as well, that's how I started in this business. I said oh really?!, would you be up for the challenge to getting the driveway graded correctly. He said sure and told me what his plan would be for better water draining away from the house. Gave us an estimate and we said yes, got the driveway scheduled and it turned out just as beautiful as his concrete work. It's spalling and holding water. To make matters worse, he left large amounts of concrete hidden in my shoreline, in the phragmites and another large chunk in my side yard. It's so large that our lawn guy couldn't even budge it. Also, he's not licensed or insured. He's using a MHIC number that belongs to his friends company (Storm Ready Exteriors).

We hired East Coast Concrete (Maryland) to demolish a brick wall for our business and paid a $4,500…read moredeposit on September 11, 2025. Since then, over a month has passed with no work done and nearly no communication. We were dealing with Jack, the owner, who initially responded; but after taking our deposit, he stopped answering our calls completely. We tried following up multiple times with no luck. Eventually, we had our admin office call on our behalf, and they actually picked up, gave a date to be on-site, and then, again, didn't show up. After that, they started ignoring our admin's calls too. Then on October 1, a random person called us saying someone would be at the site on October 2 or 3. When we pushed back, saying this was the third time we were promised a date, the caller admitted they had no idea about our project; they were just told to call and say someone would show up. Unsurprisingly, no one came, and since then, we've been completely ghosted again. We now have no choice but to hire a different company, which is delaying our own business operations and impacting our clients. After checking Yelp, we discovered this company has done the same thing to others, taking deposits and not following through. We feel scammed and are demanding a full refund of our $4,500 deposit. This is highly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. Avoid East Coast Concrete at all costs.

They did the demolition and then it took weeks to get them to remove the hazardous debris. They finally removed the debris and we proceeded to move forward with phase 2, the acquisition of materials. After payment no materials and after many calls, no response. The GM, Chris Fischer, with whom we worked with on the scope of work and estimates, told us he no longer works for the company. We contacted MD and their license is suspended, they do not occupy space at the address given, and we are moving forward with a formal complaint and lawsuit. Save yourself the loss and headache.

We were very happy with the work done by Gary and his team at Landscaping by Design. We had Gary…read morecompletely redo our backyard on Capitol Hill in DC. All of the existing fencing and hardscape was removed and we installed new cedar fencing, a patio area, a parking area,lighted garden beds and a stone bench. All of this in a narrow DC yard (16x120). We did not contract LBD for design services; we did most of that ourselves (just looking at pictures online). But Gary did a good job of looking at our ideas and helping us see if there were any clear problems. He was always happy to meet with us in person or talk on the phone. And he went with us when we selected hardscaping materials. The only real con to the entire process with LBD is that the job did not go quickly. A job that was scheduled for a few weeks stretched into a few months. There were weather delays for sure and Gary was also working other jobs. However the delays didn't bother us much at all. First, Gary was very clear up front that if we had a strict timeline he wasn't probably our guy. Second, we were more interested in quality than speed. I'm reluctant to write numbers because I have no idea what the scope of your project would be. But I always wish someone would give some indication as to price. So for all the work described above, plus a new garage door (about $5k), but without any actual plantings (we did that part ourselves), the total cost was just over $40k. Yes that's a lot of money, but some of that came from our choices -- the cedar fence was over $10k. And some of the cost was the quality we were paying for. Gary put a lot of work into making sure that the new yard would drain well and making sure that the ground under the hardscaping was well-prepared. That preparation took a lot of work. I would definitely recommend contacting Gary about your project.
