My son lives in an apartment complex in Tallahassee. He and a roommate had an issue with the…read morebreaker tripping. Sun Coast was hired by the apartment complex to resolve the issue. They determined that there was not an issue with the actual usage in the bedrooms (pulling 9.8 amps on a 15 amp breaker), but replaced a 15 amp arc fault breaker with a 20 amp regular breaker on 14 gauge wire. They also disconnected the fans in the bathrooms. I asked for a letter from Sun Coast stating this was in code and received a letter from them admitting they had put a 20 amp breaker in the apartment, but that it was done as for troubleshooting purposes only -- curiously the 20 amp breaker was in the apartment for almost a month with no follow-up visits or calls from Sun Coast Electric. I contacted a different electrician and had them view the "fixes" by this company, who provided me with written verification that all were code violations. Upon providing this proof to the apartment complex, Sun Coast came out and put the building back into code compliance, but indicated they couldn't troubleshoot the problem and only offered an expensive repair. My electrician indicated that they could most likely troubleshoot and fix the issue fairly quickly... I just moved to Tallahassee and needed someone to do some electrical work for me at my new home, but I won't be using Sun Coast Electric! Their cavalier attitude toward my son's (as well as, his roommates' and the rest of the building occupants') safety makes me leery of the quality of their work.

Parker Services installed our Amana heat pump unit in 2018. When we needed repair in December 2024,…read morethey came out and diagnosed it as a leaking coil with no refrigerant left in the system. The diagnostic charge was $130 which is fair. The repair estimate (labor) to replace the coil was $1230 plus refrigerant, (the part was under warranty) which the tech said would be about another $1000. The labor estimate of $1230 was to be two techs for four hours each (8 hours total labor). Our unit holds about 16 pounds of R410A, which we bought online at a very substantial savings ($230 for 25#) so obviously there is well over a 300% markup on their refrigerant pricing. Once the new coil was received by Parker Services, they came out to install it. The first tech was there alone for one hour before the second tech arrived ($160). The second tech was there together with the first tech for one hour ($260), then the first tech left, and the second tech was there alone for 2 more hours ($320). This is using their labor rates, and should have been a total of $740 for labor. After about 10 days of requesting an itemized invoice from "Buddy", we received an invoice via email for the full amount of the initial "estimate" of $1230, which was broken down as $130 for diagnostic (correct), and $1100 for labor ($260 per hour for two men @ 3 hours and $160 for one man @ 2 hours) which was incorrect. I called Jeremy to try to get this reduced to the proper amount of $870. ($740 actual labor cost, plus $130 diagnostic), but still received an "itemized" invoice for $1230, with incorrect labor hours on it. This is an overbilling of $360. We are mailing them a check for the full invoice amount. Unless this is resolved, we will not be using Parker Services in the future. Also, we only used 16 pounds of the 25 pounds of refrigerant that we bought, and gave the remaining 8 pounds to the tech. I am retired from commercial construction and have built $60 million dollar buildings so I have plenty of experience and knowledge in the HVAC industry. I also have known the founders of Parker Services for many years but would not recommend using them.

The guy "Buddy" is anything but your buddy. He also cussed us out and told us its not his fault we are poor! Office was equally rude, acting like we took several hours of their time even though I paid over $400 for NOTHING. NEVER GO HERE.
