My friend and I visited here yesterday as we were treating ourselves to a pamper day. We had a…read moreGroupon voucher for a flotation tank session followed by a deep tissue massage. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly member of staff at the front desk. After presenting her with our voucher we were brought downstairs to the flotation tank area. We had our own private room with a large tank in it. The member of staff explained how the tank worked and left us to it. In the room was a shower which we were told we had to use before getting in. What I found particularly odd was that there was only one shower for two people. Additionally there was no privacy within the room so it made it difficult for my friend and I to get changed out of our clothes. It was as if it was set up for 1 person rather than 2. When we got in the tank it was rather nice. The way I gather that it works is that it is really salty water which makes your entire body float. Perhaps a little information on that from the staff would have been interesting to know. On the side of the tank were 2 buttons - 1 to turn the lights on and off and another to turn the stars on the ceiling on and off. This was a nice touch. The tank could have done with being a little bigger as when we were floating we had to consciously make sure not to float too much as we would bump in to each other. We were in the tank for a total of an hour which I felt was a little too unnecessarily long. After showering, up next was the massage. I was a little disappointed to find out that there was only one masseuse which meant that one person had to wait whilst the other got their 30 minute treatment done. I felt that this was a little strange seeing as it was a package for 2 people. Additionally, whilst you wait you can hear everything that is going on at the reception upstairs. I was meant to be relaxing but could hear the receptionist having a bit of a heated discussion on the phone. This was obviously not her fault as she was very professional but it did take away from the otherwise relaxing nature of the spa. When my time came for my massage, I very much enjoyed it. The masseuse definitely knows what she is doing as I came out feeling very relaxed. One small criticism that I have for this section is that it was meant to be a deep tissue massage but she didn't really go very deep at all - it was actually more like a Swedish massage. Overall I really enjoyed my visit but I do think that there are a few things that they could improvements to make it a bit better.

I had a very sub-par visit to this place. This is what happened. On arrival I was met by a nice…read moreemployee who asked me to fill out what was essentially an insurance waiver before being allowed to use the flotation room. The form included a line stating that I had read and understood the rules, no rules were actually given to me or available. I was then shown to the floatation room. They should provide a separate room for the float and for the shower as I had to wait for the previous occupants to have their showers and clean up. They do not provide any basket etc to put your clothes in so you have to just fold them up and leave them on the side in the room. I then got undressed and was about to start my float when there was a knock on the door. The nice employee was clearly embarrassed but her manager (Emma?) had told her that she must get my money before I could use the room. I thought this was a bit rude and showed that they didn't trust me - I had to explain myself that I could hardly go anywhere with a towel wrapped around me - I felt a bit vulnerable. I said that I would pay at the end. This strange encounter left me feeling quite annoyed and actually ruined the float for me as I found it quite hard to relax. After the float was up I then had to carry all my clothing next door for the massage. At no stage before or after was I offered a drink of water etc which should be normal for an establishment such as this - floating and massage are very dehydrating. Though the massage itself was quite good, I could hear all the conversations etc going on in the waiting area which was not great. After the massage I got dressed and went up to pay and met Emma. She was clearly feeling quite annoyed with me as I had refused to pay earlier. Initially I was ignored at the till whilst she and a colleague were finishing a conversation. I was asked what I thought of the float and massage etc so I tried to explain I thought the demanding money from me once I was naked and about to begin a float was quite rude. She could not empathise with me at all and from the signals I was receiving from the employees she is clearly a bit of a bully who thinks her way is the best way. The colleagues looked embarrassed with her attitude towards a customer. Any relax or good the float and massage had given me was quickly erased with her aggressive nature. I wanted to pay and leave. As I had a voucher for part of my payment (gift not Groupon!) I was just going to pay the extra for the massage. I knew this was going to be £40 but she tried to charge me £45 - when I pointed out that this was not the right amount the argument continued. In the end she said that at no stage was she trying to over charge me - should wouldn't admit her mistake. I left and won't be back - I suggest you go elsewhere for the services they offer.
