R&M Contracting came and did a bathroom remodel and deck restoration job at my home. We are beyond happy with the work done. Company is super professional. Communication was on point. Time frame given to complete all work was done as expected and passed inspection with flying colors. The owner and his employees respected our home and wore protective footwear to not damage our rugs. The deck work is beautiful. So don't think twice. Hire this contractor and his employees to do all your home improvements and I promise you won't regret this decision. read more

We used this business on recommendation from Home Depot. We wanted our deck removed,rebuilt/ expanded by 4 ft and enclosed with screens with looking to eventually changing the screens to windows. We were impressed in the beginning with Mike as he relayed different jobs where he made his guys tear out and replace mistakes. He demands quality work. We wanted the job permitted and follow code. Mike agreed and when asked how long it would take he said 5 days with some delays waiting for inspections. We decided to use his company and agreed to the price which was comparable to what we had heard from friends that had similar work done. I should have been warned when the written "contract" was in shorthand. I wanted to purchase supplies from Home Depot so I could pay with my charge and stretch out the payment. I then gave Mike about 1/3 of the agreed price. About 2 was later after several calls and texts a crew showed up and began digging and pouring new footers for the expanded deck. I was impressed with this step. Mike came out to check on this and called out to one of the workers to kick a form in a little on one side to straighten it he then said the inspector would have to check this step. About a week later 2guys come out and start tearing off the old deck. The guys would show up between 9:30 and 10 and leave by 10. If they needed any supplies they usually left around 11:30 and didn't return until the next day or several days later. Fast forward a month and I finally had some framing. I saw several large gaps and had some quality concerns. I texted Mike and attached pictures of my concerns. Mike came out and the guys corrected the problems. Mike wanted to know how much my HD payment was, gave me credit and wanted another draw. The guys put the roof deck on and the tar paper- no shingles. Days and weeks went by and no workers. I have a running text list with Mike and always some excuse. 2 months later2 guys came by and worked well for 2-3 days, corrected mistakes and added outside plywood. This was October (we started in July). These 2 are probably Mike's best workers and he continues pulling them to work other jobs. I called/texted 2-3 x a week. Always some excuse about running 9 others jobs but he would complete more job with quality work. The next time I had verbal contact with Mike was April! He claimed he was trying to find my number( on our contract) but he had erased all his out of state numbers (my cell). He would send the crew the next week to finish. Monday arrives no crew. I call and he said he didn't saw a certain day but they would be there the next day. Surprise! They showed up. Around noon a guy comes to shingle the roof but declared it was too hot(70). Next morning he comes back ready to shingle over 6 month tar paper that was torn curled and worn. We demanded he tear it off and put fresh. He didn't have material but we said that was his problem. He made a call and the 2 good workers brought the material he needed. It then took 3 workers to shingle a 16x16 roof. My room was finally completed-not quality in June. 11 months later but wanting the check sent with his worker. Long story short I definitely wouldn't use again. read more

Before I begin with the unpleasant experience I had with this contractor I will note that the only two things that were done properly was the landscaping and staining my back deck, everything else was not completed, or completed poorly Getting a hold of Mike is difficult, he is slow to return phone calls and emails and is a difficult person to talk to and speaks with a condescending tone, basically your business isn't worth much to him. He does not give regular updates about the crew or progress and you have to call him to get any sort of answer(my experience) We started the project in march and the landscaping was done quickly, however, after that it only got slower. I was out of town for awhile so some of the delay was my fault and I will accept that. But it went on for 2 more months and with continuous voicemails and emails on getting my hardwood floors completed and the house painted. He couldn't (or wouldn't) send a crew out to do the floors after he asked to clean the floors off, which we did, as well as clean up the mess his painters left behind. We cleaned the floors that day and let Mike know to send the floor guys out and he never did. When I spoke to him about the floors I was told the remaining 1500 on the contract was so small he wasnt worried about it as he had larger projects going on. Basically telling me he wouldn't complete the work even though we paid him to do it because he overbooked his crew. We found a new contractor and it cost more than the remaining balance on the R and M contract. On to the painting problems. Everything was painted but baseboards, and when we went to inspect all the paint we came across a lot of problems. The master bedroom and bathroom paint was so thin we could see the old paint underneath it. No 2nd coat was applied. All the window and door molding was painted the wall color on the sides (the trim/molding is supposed to be white or blue and his painters painted the sides gray(wall color) instead of taping it to prevent that while painting the walls) the painters were lazy in that regard. Other problems, paint was left on all the windows , they did not scrape off the paint that got on the glass and left my kitchen counters covered in a mess of dried paint on the counter tops and in the sink. The closets were not painted We asked Mike to get his crew back out there to resolve the issues, he claimed he would send someone. We never heard back from him on when that might be done, after getting back from out of town, it was about 3 weeks later we looked at the house again and still noticed no change. We called Mike and he claimed someone did finish. As we looked back at the paint we found the living room and kitchen was redone , however the bedrooms and master baths and closets were not repainted or completed. The painters only did the living room and kitchen and 1 upstairs room and then left, leaving a bucket on our new carpet. After that Mike stopped answering my calls and would not return them or my emails. This contractor has been a terrible experience and delayed selling my house for 3 months. First off I want to say it's been 7 months since my project has been started and as of yet incomplete. They started off with a bang and then the fuse went out. No show of crews for months. Then one day mike wants money so a crew shows up for 2 days. You pay him and then no shows for months. The work is done not the way you asked or wrong, Incomplete and just bad workemenship. When confronted, oh it's a quick fix and it's done wrong again and yet again. I gave him 3/4 of his money, big mistake, BIG ONE because I found out he has several jobs. I'm sure my money went elsewhere instead of my job because the sub contractors that worked on my house never got paid. They are all now going to sue R & M contracting in Cartersville, Ga. I'm now being threatened and he says he will put a lean on my house. Now he's claiming tools and materials were stolen which I never would do, as this is totally against my religion. Yes I have a great lawyer in Atlanta, Ga and taking him to court as soon as all paperwork is completed. He's a disaster and I suggest you stay far - very far from him. Very very far away. Would definitely not hire, we hired them to do a basement remodel. Was told it was a 4-6 week job. Yesterday was 11 weeks and the job is still not completed. Poor communication, lack of any management or supervision. No attention to detail, 3/4 way through the job no one showed up for 12 days and left a huge pile of trash in the yard during that time. Three weeks into the job he pulled 2 of his three guys off of our job to start another job. I specified that we wanted drawers in the lower cabinets for my mother on three separate occasions and Mike said he would take care of it. It never happened. He recommended that we replace all the breakers in our electrical box due to a safety issue, told him we would pay for it on several occasions, it never happened. The kitchen he put in is bigger than the one upstairs yet my mom had to settle on a 24 inch sink, something that would go into an RV, because of mis measurements. Every time he wouldn't have anyone show up we had to text and call several times, for several days to get them back out. There is no follow up, not one time did he even call my mother to set a meeting up to walk through with her to make sure she was happy with the job, although he did want her to tape a $500 check to the door so he could just swing by without dealing with anything face to face. And if you have an issue with any and I mean any of the work you are told that you're complaining and he's done a bunch of "free" stuff for you, so you should pretty much quit whining and be happy with what they've done. Make sure the scope of work he writes up before the job states everything on there that was talked about, and that there is a completion date. Very stressful and difficult to work with. read more
