Hello all, I just wanted this alert to help out anyone that may be looking for upholstery work. I…read morehired ROBERT MARSHALL (aka, MIAMI BOAT CO ,OOB, MSD DISTRIBUTING ,OOB, MARINE CRAFT AMERICA , MARSHALL CRAFT, WhiteFin Boats, Marshall Craft Supply) to do 5 boat cushions on 5/17/17. He was the only guy that said he could have them done on Friday the 26th before memorial day weekend, so I gave him a $600 deposit. I called him 2 days later to ask a question, but he wasn't answering so I sent a text with no response. As the days passed I progressively sent more text messages and phone calls (over 20 each) and finally got one text back stating he'd have them done on Friday. He still did not answer my question, and never again responded. I asked him through the week for pictures of my product, as well as many other questions as I tried to determine if this guy was making his way off with my money. I had to get the Pinellas County Sheriff involved, in which they confirmed he has done this several times within the past year or so. I filed a report and the officer left him a message on Sat 27th. On Sun the 28th Robert sent photos of 3 cushions, presumable the 3 he just made that night after getting the call from the Sheriff. Robert Marshall then sent me a text on 5/29/17 stating he dropped off the product at his sons house (Andy, which does upholstery as well) and wanted me to pick them up. I called Andy and he said it was only 3 cushions, not the 5 I paid for, and not my deposit on the car seats. I sent a text stating I would not accept the cushions unless the project in which I paid for was 100% complete, and that he do the install to ensure proper fit as agreed. Robert called me and said that was all I was getting for my $600, despite the contract. Bottom line...this guy will take your money because he thinks he can. He hasn't been arrested for this, but has done it to others. There's a fine line between civil and criminal, and most law enforcement will blow these disputes off as civil when it comes to contracts, but he showed intent in many ways, and a past history of the same, so the Sheriff was going to press for criminal, but as I assumed, Robert Marshall made a few cushions to avoid going to jail. Attached is his original ad. If you know this guy, or been scammed by him, let me know. I'm going to blog all over to try and find more people, as I'm sure he's done this to many more. Robert is based in Spring Hill Florida. UPDATE: 5.31.17 Since he escaped going to jail he now is requesting another $350 to make the two cushions that I already paid for! He is unwilling to hold up to his contract, which has been his MO in other cases I have read on him, so I have now filed a small claims suit. Stay far away from this guy.
