I ordered flooring through R+L Carriers (Norristown), and the entire experience was a shambling disaster from the first text to the moment they hung up on me.
Monday I got a text confirming delivery for 7/29 between 10am-2pm. The morning of, the website still showed "order placed" no update at all so I called at 8:12am, only to be told the shipment hadn't even arrived yet and delivery would actually be the next day. Great start.
Then at 10:34am, out of nowhere, I got an email saying the floors were out for delivery. So which is it? I called to confirm and was told 10am-12pm. Noon came and went. Nothing. I gave them until 2pm the original window still nothing. When I called again, now I'm told the driver has "other stops" and would have to loop back, magically pushing my delivery to "before 5pm." A third window, and every one of them a lie.
Here's where it gets genuinely absurd. Since the flooring apparently hadn't even been loaded onto a truck, I asked if they could just deliver the next day instead of dragging me along all day. The rep told me no because "the shipper won't pay for redelivery." Redelivery? Nothing had been delivered in the first place. When I pointed out that this made zero sense, she had no answer, because there isn't one.
Then it turned openly hostile. When I mentioned I'd been sitting here four hours based on what their own people told me, she yelled at me that none of it counted because I "hadn't spoken to dispatch." I said whoever I spoke with clearly had some basis for confirming my delivery was out and handing me time windows and she snapped back, "you didn't speak to dispatch because I'm dispatch." So either the people feeding me delivery times all day were unreliable, or she was dispatch the whole time and simply preferred arguing to doing her job. Either way, that's on R+L.
She also cheerfully informed me they require no signature and will dump flooring in the driveway whether or not anyone's home no protection from weather, theft, or damage. When I asked what happens if it shows up damaged, she barked, "I'm not going to damage your items, I'm done, have a good day ma'am," and hung up on me.
And here's the part that actually cost me real money: I had a contractor on standby all day to move the flooring inside the moment it arrived. Because R+L jerked me around window after window and never showed, I had to keep him waiting for hours and ultimately send him home empty-handed and I still had to pay him for the day. That's $500 out of my pocket, gone, entirely because R+L couldn't hit a single one of the three windows they invented. I will be billing R+L Carriers for that $500, and I expect them to pay it.
Let me be clear about what R+L actually delivered: three contradictory delivery windows, a fake excuse about redelivery fees, a dispatcher who yelled at a paying customer and hung up on her, a policy of leaving expensive materials unattended in a driveway with zero accountability, and a $500 hole in my wallet for a contractor who had nothing to do because they never showed. The only thing they managed on time was the attitude.
Constantly shifting timelines, nonsense excuses, and a rep with open contempt for the customer. If you have any choice of carrier, choose literally anyone else. Avoid R+L Carriers. read more
