I SAID GOOD MORNING TO THEIR WORKER AND WAS CALLED A RACIST!@!!!!!! After the 3rd time R&K failed their first inspection, the roofer showed up and I opened the front door to say good morning and let me know if you need anything. The next thing I know, their boss called me to tell me that I yelled at his worker and was making racist remarks but admitted that the worker didn't speak English. For each of the FOUR times they had been to work on the roof, we all had pleasant exchanges and no one, NO ONE, made such accusations. So, they tried to take me to court as they thought they could bully me into an extra $5300.00 for their mistake. We get to court, as I would not back down from these bullies, and their Lawyer asks if we can just shake hands and walk away. Really? Well, the suit they filed was so badly written and wrought with errors that there was no doubt they would lose in front of a judge. In fact the paperwork showed that they owed me over 600.00. They used the back of a contract that wasn't the one I signed as evidence to support their suit. Lied completely and wholly in their assertions against me. They got caught in their own bait and switch as I called them out on it. Beat my lowest estimate by 5k, inspected my roof and said it was a single layer of shingles to rip off. Then when work started they "found" a second layer and wanted another 5K. Bait and switch by definition. Lastly, after we agreed to just walk away they wanted me to take down my review as if nothing ever happened. Told them emphatically "NO". Edit to add: The owner responded on here but will not return our calls to the office. We 100% used this company from Flagler and have the invoice to prove that we are customers. We are still out $1900 for a job halfway done. Had R&K roofing come out to fix a hole that went from our roof into the attic to block critters from getting in. They came out right away and installed some type of box to stop the critters from getting in. As it's in a spot that we can't see without climbing on the roof ourselves, we trusted them and paid them $1900. When our critter guy came back out he showed us that they had only blocked half of the hole and we were still getting critters as big as possums coming in and out of the attic. R&K roofing came back out and shoved some mesh in the hole which does nothing to stop the critters and the guy that came out told us just to put black pepper in the attic and we will be fine. We ended up having to hire a different roofing company and pay them to do the job properly. We reached out to David at R&K roofing to discuss getting some of the $1900 back because the agreed upon job was not done properly and are unable to get any response. Ours has been a terrible experience. We had a roof leak, we were told someone would come out and go into the attic to determine where it was leaking. A Mike showed up and started working on our skylight. Leaked even worse after 2 attempts. A new guy comes out and totally removes the sky light and reinstalls it. Had to have ceiling replaced due to water damage. In the end when the ceiling was taken out the actual leak was discovered in a different place. A PVC pipe that went through the roof with no cap on it. We could see daylight through the pipe. After waiting a week for Mike to show for his appointment that he set, we called and he said, "oh, didn't they call you? Not under warranty. A salesman is supposed to get ahold of you." Now we still have a leak and R&K say's its not their problem. As usual, David (GM) is not available to discuss. Leaves it to his phone operator to deal with who of course can cot resolve the issues. Jaime convinced us to go though Insurance company stating that they would negotiate with them but they did nothing of the sort. 5 months into the process, they sent me an attorney proposal for me to hire and fight with the Insurance company (which I refused to sign) even though they said they would be doing that on my behalf. Even though they repeatedly told me that it was illegal for the Insurance company to cancel my policy during a claim, the Insurance company cancelled my policy anyway. After 5 months of absolute BS from RK Roofing, I went with another company. Even met with the General Manager to resolve this matter, and to add insult to injury they sent me a $20,125 "discounted price" from the original $24,079 they sent to the Insurance company. I signed a form which I was told allowed R&K to "negotiate" with the ins. co on my behalf. My insurance co. wouldn't pay the $26k or even negotiate so R&K SUED them!!! I informed R&K I wouldn't use them even if they won the suit & asked them to just drop the whole thing...it was a small job..why would they go thru all of this...They wouldn't drop it and ONE YEAR later they lost the suit & I could finally have a roof put on by Florida's Best Roofing.... If you chose to use R&K and they suggest you go thru your insurance co....before you sign anything insist on seeing what bid they are sending in and compare it to what you were given...or, better yet, just choose another company! Buyer beware!!! The abosute worst experience of my entire life. RK installed a new roof in November of 2017. Never a single English speaking representative ever on my property during install, not even a Forman. They even came the wrong week! RK workers then damaged my home while installing new roof. Repairs were not completed untul June of 2018. Delay after delay, lies, Incompetence, deceit and poor workmanship. They even filed a fraudulent lean against my property. Then after taking them to arbitration and winning -- they failed to comply with arbiters decision and then filed 3 fraudulent lean releases. Beware of the yard sign and referral price rip off scam. It's an inflated price over and above the competitive price where they promise you a discount if you get them referrals plus you must put sign on your property. No problem if they deserved to be referred! However ... if by chance they provide poor quality service (as in my case) they still expect you to refer people to them or they won't honor yard sign rip off price. (Unless you take them to court and win as I did). There is no responsibility on their part to provide referable quality services. Careful!! It took 1 year of litigation with RK to for them make me whole .... but the time, the cost, the frustration and the incompetence was unconscionable and at times difficult to bear. Beware!! Beware !!! We contacted R&K Roofing for an estimate on a new roof. The sales representative, Jamie, provided us with an estimate the same day. Very unhappy customer here. Took them 8 months to do the job. The first crew sent to work on the roof took 5 days and did nothing more than cause major damage. They took the dumpster away on day 2 and then proceeded to just toss the debris into my side yard, nails and all. Did not clean up very well. Had to clean up my yard by myself. The second crew had to re-do all of the work from the first crew. They were done in 1 day. My new roof started to leak in less than 1 month. I now have ceiling damage that was not there before. They will not return phone calls and will not communicate with me. Management blamed all the problems on the original salesman who has since been fired.
