Amazing bagels & selection…read more The seasonal fruit & prosciutto was amazing, also tried the veggie with lox added. Our waitress was also really helpful in suggesting bagel & cream cheese pairings.

We had timed tickets on a Monday morning for Willis Tower and had no idea how popular Tilly's was! The inside is rectangular with tables along the walls/front window and quads inside of the floor space. There were people lined up to order or waiting, delivery drivers hovering around the shelves asking for their orders in the back right corner, a massive amount of staff doing their duties and every table was full of people eating. It was something to see. Out the door two plain bagels toasted with cream cheese was $12.30. Bagels were large with just the right amount of cream cheese. You could easily share one if you're not too hungry. My son ate an entire bagel and I split mine with a friend. They were fluffy, light with a crispy crust. Honestly we went simple because the staff wasn't too helpful with recommendations due to how busy they were. We were in such a rush I didn't even take a picture! Please forgive me! If you're hungry for a bagel in the loop this is the stop. Make sure you plan ahead and take some time looking at their menu. Thanks guys!

I had to get food, (particularly chicken soup) for a sick friend of mine who was stuck in a hotel…read morein Chicago and it was very hard to find a place that had chicken soup who would deliver it to the hotel. (I am in Las Vegas ) Unfortunately the delivery service the Deli usually uses quits before 2:30 and so I couldn't get it delivered. I called the Deli to ask if they had a different service and the owner said, he would take it there himself to my sick friend THAT KIND OF ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT IS WHAT WE NEED MORE OF! Small businesses give a damn and I love that this owner was kind enough to go all the way over to the Warwick Allerton to personally deliver her chicken soup and tuna, which by the way she said was absolutely fabulous!! When given an option I will pick a small business over corporate America any day... And this owner just gave me another good reason why. Kudos to a business owner with pride and concern.

I grabbed a pastrami, egg and swiss on a plain bagel.. It was perfection, like they wrote the manual, like I was in midtown manhattan! I love this place. I remember The Bagel from its former locations on Devon and at Old Orchard, but…read morethis one is hands down my favorite. The sandwiches are HUGE - not just garden variety big, but HUGE - and they are fabulous. I haven't tried the soups yet, but plan to on my next couple visits. One thing - if you can, try to make sure Brenda is your server. She is a hoot, and she makes a pleasant experience a lot of fun. She is a treasure!

What a disappointment! I made the terrible mistake of giving The Bagel a second chance, and I can…read moreconfidently say there will not be a third. I arrived for lunch at 1:00 p.m., and the restaurant was practically empty. Perhaps that should have been my first warning. Not only have the prices increased considerably, but both the quality and quantity of the food have deteriorated. I ordered a cup of kreplach soup, a pastrami sandwich, and a can of Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. The bill came to over $35. Unfortunately, the price was the least of my disappointments. The soup was fine, as was the soda. However, I had to ask for the pickles, which once came automatically with the meal. A small detail, perhaps, but another indication of declining service. The real disaster was the pastrami sandwich. At first glance, it appeared generously piled with meat. Upon closer inspection, however, I discovered that the pastrami had been heaped in the center, leaving both ends of the sandwich with nothing but bread. When I spread the meat out to cover the bread, what remained was a disappointingly thin sandwich. It was a deceptive presentation that made an already overpriced sandwich even more disappointing. Worse still, the pastrami was excessively greasy and nearly inedible. As I was eating, I actually had to pull several strange, rubbery strands out of my mouth. To my astonishment, when I grasped the ends of these strands and pulled, they stretched like rubber bands! Whether this was casing, gristle, or something else, I cannot say, but it was utterly revolting. Whatever happened to serving properly prepared, quality pastrami? To be fair, the restaurant has been remodeled, and the interior looks quite attractive. Unfortunately, a handsome dining room cannot compensate for dreadful food, diminished portions, and inflated prices. The Bagel was once a place where one could count on a satisfying deli meal. Based on my last two experiences, those days appear to be long gone. My advice? Save your money and your appetite. Chicago has far better places to enjoy a pastrami sandwich. I certainly won't be returning.
