Kalitaaaaaaaa

Qūentin and Memorias de un Barista were the two first specialty coffee shops that I discovered in Mexico City back in the day. Prior to that my default was always the wonderful. Gabi's, what with its spectacular display of vintage coffee equipment all along the walls and the excellent breakfast. Well now there are more locations for. Qūentin and today I found one close to my current hotel on Bruselas. Qūentin Miscelanea. . Quality as always is good. BUT. . I spied three Kalitas but I doubt if they have the opportunity to do pour over coffee here, but I shall ask. I asked, and they confirmed that they still do pour overs. Funny thing, I went with an Americano today, and the first taste was kind of bitter and then sour (very weird to experience sour. Bitter is typical when the coffee is still very hot because that is what your tongue recognizes first with hot liquid ). But as it cooled down, it became more drinkable, though not memorable. I guess it's time passes things change. So, qualifying that I have the utmost respect for this coffee company, but that my temptation now is to move farther afield and try some of the newer specialty places that have cropped up.

Favorite cup of coffee of our Mexico City trip! This cafe has modern, minimalist, hip vibes and has a small indoor and outdoor seating area to enjoy your drinks and pastries. The espresso is bold but smooth, and my husband loved the coffee here so much that he bought beans to take home. There's a nice variety of roasted beans to choose from, and the staff was very knowledgeable and recommended different types depending on how we wanted to prepare them at home.

Banana bread

Took the dogs for a walk and stopped at this neighborhood cafe. It's small with a few tables inside and outside. Ordered an iced chai and banana bread for myself and a few croissants to take home. The banana bread was flavorful and had chunks of chocolate. Since the drink was a little light on chai, the staff comped me on the small drink. Very thoughtful. The croissants were like homemade - crunch on the outside and buttery flaky on the inside. Great stop!

We got our morning coffees here multiple times during our week long stay in CDMX. Such a cute little spot with mostly American clientele in the Roma neighborhood. We loved loved coffees and pastries here. The guava pastry was such an unexpected flavor profile and so fitting to CDMX and the banana bread had chunks of chocolate and was so delicious. Was also excited to see that they use Dandelion chocolate in their mochas. They have a couple outdoor tables and there's often mariachi bands performing right outside for some music while you enjoy your coffee. We saw a line every time we went in which is expected of such a place but it moves quickly.

Cute coffee shop! I got my go to Flat White and also ordered banana bread. The banana bread was nice and moist and much better than other banana breads I've had! My friends and I grabbed our coffee/pastries to go, but I did enjoy sitting in the cafe for the few minutes we were in there.

Ordered an Americano which was pretty average. Also got a tasty concha which went well with it.

If you're ever in Roma, CDMX and want some fresh coffee avoid Starbucks and drink coffee from a local café. They don't have a big menu, but they have quite a few varieties of coffee. The space is small, but it's súper chido. You can go there to work if you need to or meet with a friend. I love this cafe!

Cold brew to go

Beautiful shop playing groovy tunes and very friendly staff. The cold brew was and we had to bring two bags back to Texas. They're open to at least 11pm on Saturdays. Yep says 1am but google mentions 11 so we played it safe strolled in at 10:45pm.

Espressonic and cascara funky

Quentin is always our morning cafe spot when in CDMX. My favorite drinks are the cascara funky and the espressonic. The flat white is perfect too, but those iced drinks are it for me. Also grab some coffee beans to take back and reminisce on this great cafe in the coolest city in the world.

Cortado, almond milk, brown sugar

Quaint neighborhood coffee shop, just one block from Four Points Sheraton. Almond milk, flat whites, cortados, free leaf white teas, pastries. Soft music. Tables outside. Perfect mood changer!

Always my favorite coffee spot when visiting CDMX. I've busted three times and always find time to come. I always get a latte with a pastry.
