6 courses for €60 with an optional €30 wine pairing. The food was delicious and they explain every course to you, making the dishes even more unique. They also invite you to walk around their farm, which is a nice break from your meal. My only gripe is that service was really slow. The wait time between each course was much longer than expected (and I've been to a lot of fine dining places). Maybe I'm just used to a faster pace coming from New York. Reservations required. They make you re-confirm your reservation over email 24 hours prior too.

The dining concept here is prix fixe, AND you don't choose your meal. The menu is determined by what's available on the farm. It's true farm to table. It's six courses, but no worries about being stuffed as each course is just enough to taste and move you toward satiety. The setup is so quaint and you get your table all to yourself for the whole evening so there's no need to rush your eating. In fact they bring each course out according to your pace. I also loved how they encouraged you to walk and explore the farm.

Now this is a unique food experience; the meal, the service, the atmosphere, all incredible! The second we walked in, we knew we were in for something wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and you can just walk around at any point in the meal, with wine glass in hand, of course. The set menu is made from all local ingredients, and had some very unique things. My favorites were the mackerel (so tender!), the Japanese turnip soup, the beakfish (I had never heard of this, but it was prepared incredibly), and the chocolate lava cake with strawberry sorbet dessert. Each plate came out with great timing and was beautiful just to look at. The service was of course very attentive. What an experience!

For $300US dinner it's tough to rate this place anything more than a 3.5. The price is double any meal we paid anywhere in Portugal and the meal was meh. The portions were not impressive and the final beef dish as basically dried out corned beef that I make better in my crockpot at home. Served with plain white rice and a slice of white bread- really? The cream sauce and fish was best and clearly not from the farm. The service was ok but very slow. I had to asked for water, no cold bucket for white wine and took long time to get check. The farm experience is nonsense Walk around a back yard with nothing growing and no sign or explaining of what we are looking at. While meals were served with some basic ingredients pointed out it wasn't very well explained either.

I'm really so grateful to have had this amazing dinner experience with you guys. We've been traveling for a while now and everything has been amazing, but I think what I needed was to feel cozy and at home, and you brought me just that with your food and service. I loved everything from start to finish, such fresh and delicious ingredients, and all your staff were so welcoming and kind. It was lovely to be in a brightly lit open room- it felt like we were at a small dinner party at a friend's home and people were all just arriving at different times. It was a wonderful way to taste a bit of Portugal and Azores through your gifts. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

Magical meal. As true a 'farm to table' meal' as you'll get. You're greeted warmly by the owner who clearly loves to bring you the experience. Grab a drink and take a walk around the farm as the sun sets prior to sitting down in the rustic dining room for the multicourse meal drawing from their crops. The food is fairly simple, not chasing Michelin stars, but it's all delicious. Go for the wines from their family vineyards. A special experience for any diner.

This is a hidden gem. It's a farm to table restaurant with great ambiance. The owner and wife run the restaurant out of their own home and the owner greeted us as the door. The meal/menu is pre fixed so that you don't have to order anything on your own. The meal was prepared to perfection and the service was exceptional. It's family friendly, but also very romantic for couples. Highly recommended. We ordered one of the house Cab/Shiraz wine. Delicious. Very affordable as well. Overall a beautiful experience. The owner's name is Paolo. Heads up. This is a cash only restaurant. No credit cards.

We recently spent two weeks on Sao Miguel in the Açores. Many meals were enjoyed, some 'three stars' and some four or 'five stars.' Among all of them the place we enjoyed the most was Quinta dos Sabores, in the countryside outside of Ribeira Grande. The couple that owns the restaurant (Inês and Paulo) are expert gardeners and the surrounding 3 acre gardens that supply 98% of the food presented reveal their skill. They are as kind and welcoming and delightful as could be imagined. We live in Hawaii, which is known for its friendliness and 'Aloha.' Quinta dos Sabores embodied this kindness and sweet embrace of strangers that is rare in the world today. And as an amateur chef myself, I can highly recommend the cuisine of Quinta as delicious, generous, and lovingly prepared. You sit down at a table in a restored-barn setting that is both rustic and elegant. The table is set lavishly and guests begin the meal with nine small varieties of appetizers, each delectable! OMG, I'd go back just for the spinach/basil croquets! Five courses are served at a Prix-Fixe price that is very reasonable for the caliber of cuisine and the generosity of the food. If you are a 'foodie' who can appreciate delicious food that was harvested on the premises that day, this is an experience that is not to be missed. We returned to the restaurant again while we were staying in the area, because it was such a wonderful experience. We look forward to future visits. Do not miss it!

This was the best meal I had my entire stay. I had emailed Paulo ahead of time because my friend had many dietary restrictions. They were able to accommodate her. When we parked we were greeted by the owners dog, Sausage. We walked up to the door and rang a bell on the right side of the door. Then the owner came out and welcomed us. The whole thing was adorable. The inside is cozy with only 8-9 tables, a fireplace and a lovely view of the backyard (more dogs!). There were also a few small items for sale like jams. They started us with some snacks. Various dips, pickled veggies, crackers and some tasted bits of bread. There was also a nice lemon verbena tea available along with water. All of the dips were amazing and the pickles were the best. We loved the palmetto cheese dip and I loved the peanut butter beet dip. The first course was a salad with a ceviche. The ceviche was super fresh and the salad was tasty even without dressing. I was surprised at how peppery it was just on its own. The second course was a flavorful soup. The third course was I believe trigger fish with a vinegar cream sauce which again was delicious. The next course was steak which was perfectly cooked with rice and veggies. Again everything was flavorful and you cold really taste the vegetables. The rice tasted nutty. Lastly dessert was a blackberry sorbet. I thought it was interesting how small the blackberries were compared to the States. The sorbet wasn't overly sweet. Then they gave us some cute pieces of fudge with candied orange on top. Everything was delicious and fresh. There weren't a lot of complicated sauces or anything so the ingredients themselves really shined. The waitstaff was beyond accommodating and friendly. I felt like they never rushed us and kept a good flow going. It was quite the dinning experience. We were there for maybe two hours and they flew by because of how easy the dinning experience was. I could not recommend this place any more.

This place is magical. I expected bare minimum in terms of ambiance and was met with a quaint home with a fireplace burning and music on a record player playing with pleasant scented candles burning. We were greeted by the woman who runs the place and chose our table and then we're given five courses of deliciousness. The hummus was out of this world (would've never thought in the Azores), phyllo pastries, etc. everything was so wonderful. We ordered a vegetarian and regular meal -- the vegetarian was almost better than the reg! Flavors were thoughtfully put together. Would go to Sao Miguel just to go to this restaurant!

*CASH ONLY* few mentioned that in the reviews on TripAdvisor. {TripAdvisor is more popular in Europe than Yelp which I am disappointed by because Yelp reviews mention early important things like when restaurants are cash only that TA reviews never mention. But to see more reviews you must search TA.} Ok, on with the review. Our family of three from US visiting Sao Miguel drove 50 minutes from Mosteiros to this restaurant and at the end of a long amazing 6 course meal had to go find an ATM (no cash) and eventually drive 50 minutes back - and it was still completely worth it. The meal is a memory our family will look back on and compare other restaurants to in years to come. The food was rustic, not overly complicated but had tremendous depth of flavor. I didn't love everything on the price fix menu (no choices) but you could tell the care and effort they put into the food. I did love most of it though- stands outs were the appetizers, fish, duck, and desserts. Check out my photos for pictures of all 6 courses. Some reviews complained portions were small, well, yes it's a tasting menu not an all you can eat buffet. We all left completely full, including our teenage son! Highly recommended if you like farm to table food, rustic but beautiful atmosphere, and think going way off the beaten path is fun.

We came here for our 5 year anniversary dinner at the recommendation of our hotel staff. It was the Best meal of our life! Inas the mother of the farm came out to greet us and told us about the family farm. Her son and his girlfriend were our servers and were incredibly kind and knowledgable about each dish. We had 5 courses with a mix of fish and meat. They tailor the menu based on dietary restrictions. The menu changes based on the farms production and they have jars of jams and pickles you can take home for about 8 euro. We want to go back to the Azores just to eat here again! Great job by all!

I've been to multiple Michelin *'d places on several continents, and this is top drawer. Very sweet, attentive staff and relaxed farmhouse place with innovative, delicious and generous dishes. Just go! My only suggestion is to go back the way you came and NOT go further up the street past the restaurant - much is unpaved, narrow, and nasty if the weather is not great. read more

The menu was a surprise farm to table meal with 6 courses. All the food was the freshest used by the family. The dishes were artfully put together with many tasty ingredients. Each course tasted amazing. We did the wine pairing and all the types of wines served added to the flavors of the dish. Great presentation by the chef. We are outside during a rain storm and the weather further added to the ambiance of the meal. Servers were right on top of everything but they didn't push you to eat quickly and there was no rush. It actually was delightful to take our time and have a great family conversation. Both grandkids, 12 and 10 enjoyed each course. They were very willing to try the variety of the dishes served. The servers knew what was in each dish including the seasonings. Fabulous experience by the whole family. Highly recommend this family run restaurant. read more
My favorite meal on the entire island of Sao Miguel -- an elevated and unique yet highly affordable farm-to-fork dining experience! If there's only one meal that you must have while on the island, this is certainly the one... so if you're reading this, trust me and make a reservation now! When we arrived, we were handed a map and given the option to walk around and explore the farm either before or after our meal. If you're coming for a later dinner, I'd recommend walking around first so you can explore the farm grounds while the sun is still out. Such a fun way to get acquainted with the rustic charm of our surroundings to kick off the night! According to the owner, they are constantly changing up the menu so no matter how many times you visit, each time will be an entirely unique dining experience... so I won't go into too many details but our selection of the day included: pea soup, salad, fish, roasted duck, and finished off with a decadent chocolate pastry/sorbet combo. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted like a hearty homemade dish prepared with ingredients of the utmost freshness and quality. This was such a fun way to get a taste of local cuisine right from the source, and you can tell that this restaurant is a labor of love -- the owners and servers clearly take pride in the quality of ingredients in the way they walk you through each course in detail. Idk where else in the world you'd be able to find such a deliciously hearty and wholesome 6-course meal with farm-fresh, quality ingredients for 60 euros... if you do, please LMK but in the meantime do yourself the biggest favor and make this a priority while you're visiting Sao Miguel! read more

From beginning to end, Quinta dos Sabores is most notably a labor of love. You can feel it in the restaurant's quaint and intimate setting and in the creative and delicious food prepared fresh from their diverse biological farm on the property. Absolutely phenomenal dining experience by any standard. Impeccable attention to detail, the highest quality ingredients, and expert preparation. I can't say with certainty that this is the best meal on the island, but it is certainly the best meal that I've had here by a wide margin. If this restaurant were in any major metropolitan area in the world, it would be in a Michelin guide or nominated for a James Beard award. The fact that it is on a small road on a family farm on a relatively overlooked island off the coast of Portugal makes it feel like a treasure waiting to be found. It is sophisticated without being pretentious. It is fine dining while remaining approachable and comfortable. It is farm to table in the truest sense of the phrase. Reservations are a must. Ring the bell when you get there. Thank you for an incredible dining experience and making us feel welcome. read more

This is an overdue review for when we came to the Azores over Thanksgiving break (11/2015)... This place is simply amazing. The host is grand, the farm-to-table concept is pushed all the way since pretty much everything for a given evening is based on what is available in the crops at the farm (on site). The food was fantastic and we certainly enjoyed the atmosphere, sitting by the fireplace in what feels like a large room in a house! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

Great communication, east to book. Very nice hosts and dogs. Many courses for the price. Good venue for special occasion. They brought a cake for birthday. The food wasn't azorean per say but more modern European. It's also a long dinner like 2.5 hours so prepare for that. read more

This is one of the best dining experiences of my life. And I've been everywhere. The place is a beautiful pastoral farm and Paulo the owner greeted us at the door and showed us around outside a little. The 6 course meal was absolutely delicious with great presentation but even better taste and freshness . Everything made there with ingredients from their farm or nearby. From homemade hummus, beet pate, a gorgeous favas cod salad, fresh soup and then to the best piece of barracuda ever served with couscous and fresh greens. Our meat course was the best piece of steak ever! Tender and perfect. Dessert was a small chocolate lava cake and homemade strawberry sorbet. Again perfect! Our wine was a white from mainland Portugal Terras do Crata and was a recommendation from Paulo. The service by Paulo's son and his girlfriend was attentive and friendly. Worth every penny of the fixed price cost and all types of food preferences are accommodated. Yum you won't be disappointed. Even the atmosphere was a winner with a fire in the fireplace and eclectic fixtures. Thx for a great meal read more

We had a lovely evening at Quinta dos Sabores in late June 2019. The family has a warmth about them and we truly felt like we were in a home and not a restaurant which was a fun experience. The food was excellent and there were more courses than we thought there would be - it was fun to be surprised with each one as they came out. The owners know where all the food is coming from i.e. the fish and wine are extended family member's operations. All courses were unique but tastefully done. Everyone was working very hard to ensure you have an enjoyable evening. It was also fun to walk the grounds of their home before dinner. I would love to go back!! read more

What a treat. This restaurant was amazing. Hidden gem! Be advised this restaurant is reservations only. We didn't know this but luckily there was a table for us. The owners are farmers, foodies, and restaurantures. All ingredients come from their farm or surrounding islands. The restaurant is very high end and seats 7 tables with a nice fireplace. There are no menus and dishes are owner and chef created based on a variety of elements such as seasonal ingrediants. The waiters are the owner's children and they are better than many waiters I have seen. These kids aren't older than fifteen yet they were able to curate each dish in English. I was very expressed with their language proficiency and level of professionalism. Price was very good. Enjoy your meal! read more

It has been a long time since we've been treated so special as we were when we dined at Quinta dos Sobores. We were greeted by the proprietor as soon as we walked in the door. He explained to us the family history of the farm and the restaurant. The atmosphere and decor were very comfortable and welcoming. There is no menu. You receive the fish and meat du jour and they were delicious! The choice of wines is relatively limited, but don't worry, the variety is sufficient to ensure your most discerning palate is satisfied. The service is excellent. Every morsel is explained and presented in a pleasing arrangement. The six courses, though offered in small portions, was sufficient to provide a tasty and satisfying meal. Even the music (40s Swing music and 50s Pop) complements the meal and the whole dining experience! We HIGHLY recommend spending an evening in this wonderful and warm place. read more

Honestly maybe one of the best meals of my entire life, but definitely the best meal I had in my one week stay in Sao Miguel. Perfectly portioned and balanced set meal in a "traditional" Portuguese style with apps, soup, fish, and steak. Each dish was an explosion of wonderful flavor - I just can't begin to even describe it. The environment is so homey, just like being in someone's cozy dining room with a fireplace running, and the owner walks around to make conversation with everyone. They even let us play with their dogs in their backyard after our meal. Please do make a reservation and come here if you visit Sao Miguel. I promise it'll be one of the best experiences. read more
