Enjoy a piña colada as you stroll through a pineapple plantation that has operated for generations. No it is not large, but it is free and if you see one pineapple growing on a vine you have seen them all. The gift shop may be overpriced, but grab a second piña colada before shopping and that will no longer be an issue. Plenty of cats hanging out and sleeping in the gardens as you enjoy your third piña colada and a pineapple upside down cake. read more

I suppose there's really not much to see or do here. But I guess that misses the point of going here. It is really worth supporting and free to enter. The staff are real friendly too. It's five green stars all the way. My Yelp friend James K would approve of it: organically grown sweet pineapples thriving on a small island 885 miles from anywhere with no bugs to attack the shrub and not a pesticide in sight. We visited two long tunnel glass greenhouses on site but I guess there was a dozen or more there. Most of the glass was painted white as sunlight burns the plants. We saw the growth cycle from a side shoot through to mature fruit that takes about a year from birth. It is much prized here and sells for €8 a kilo locally. They have a tasting cafe where we had pineapple liquor, pineapple jam and a pineapple tart similar to pastel de nata. There was a great variety of goodies and we bought the liquor (20 proof) pineapple jam generously full of fruit and pineapple beer over 5%. We had a private tour and our driver got a coffee and pie. I offered to pay for his but I was told it was complimentary to him. I just loved the honesty when they simply could have taken the money. How refreshing and genuine. Pity we can't bottle it. If you get a chance don't miss it especially for the cafe goodies. read more

The plantation itself is small compared to what I have seen in Costa Rica or Mexico. So, you don't need to allot yourself much time to stop at this location along the outskirts of Punta Delgada. But yes, I do recommend stopping by to see a source of great pride for the whole island. As a result of pineapple production on the island, they try to incorporate it into as many things as possible like desserts and drinks. They also have a nice little kiosk in the garden selling pineapple centric items pastries, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Lastly, do stop into their gift shop that sells jams and liquor made out of you know what (pineapple). read more

Good place for a quick stop and free admission. The pineapples are grown in greenhouses and it is a unique growing process. You can walk through the greenhouses and read signs about how it's grown. They sell a variety of pineapple products and drinks too. read more

This place was a cute stop over! There is a free tour where you can learn about the pineapples and green houses. We came just as a tour bus was leaving so it was perfect timing, but I would note that it's pretty busy when a tour bus comes. There is also a gift shop that sells various pineapple souvenirs (textiles, jewelry) along with some food items such as pineapple jam, oil, liquor and chutney. Outside of the gift shop is a food stand where you can get various pineapple desserts, actual cut pineapple and drinks (pina coladas and pineapple juice). I ended up getting some pineapple cake and a toastie (which was a pineapple, ham and cheese panini that came with your choice of pineapple mustard or chutney). I opted for the chutney which was amazing! It was so delicious, I ended up buying some from the gift shop. My panini looked so tasty that my friend ended up getting one for herself too. I ate the pineapple cake later which was good but not as good as the pineapple cake I had at A Tasca. I would totally recommend this plantation as a quick stopover and for a bite to eat! read more

Our visit to the pineapple plantation was short and sweet! There is a small gift shop where you can get a pamphlet describing the process they use to grow the pineapple. Take a free self guided tour through the various greenhouses to see the different stages of growth. There is liquor, jams and hot sauce for sale, all made in house with local ingredients. Would have been nice to have samples of the jams and actual pineapples. Only samples of the liquor were available. Spent under an hour here. Nothing else in the area to see but worth the visit as it was interesting to see the process. read more
