Delicious! Wandered in during a drive around the island and was so happy we did. Great food, fabulous service and beautiful views.

Stopped in on a rainy day after reading the reviews on Yelp, and were extremely pleased with the food, service and view! We had the pork pate appetizer, green salad and the mixed seafood and rice for two - all amazingly wonderful! Finished with their Passion Fruit pie and coffee. Best meal on the island so far (and we've had some great food...). All of this, and a nice bottle of wine, for under $60 (for two). Oh, and despite what others have said, and what Yelp has posted, they do take credit cards (other than Amex)

A place so nice we came here twice! A very pretty restaurant with three areas for seating (inside on the first floor, inside on the second floor, and outside on the second floor.) The first time we sat outside and watched the sunset but then realized there aren't any lights so it was quite dark when eating. Not a big deal though as the food was delicious. The second time, although it was light out, we decided to eat on the first floor. Below is the food we tried: Tuna steak with green sauce - Good but seemed a little bland. Swordfish - Good flavor but again needed salt. It was also overcooked. Pork pate toasts - Good, salty flavor, with a nice bite from the olives. Breaded chicken stuffed with ham & cheese - Flavorful although not what I was expecting. It was a little dry but not so much that it took away from the dish. Strip steak a la casa - A fantastic steak with an amazing sauce. This is apparently their specialty! Tomato gratin - Not a gratin but rather garlic bread with cheese and tomatoes on top but it was still really good. Passion fruit pie - Fantastic. Cherry cheesecake - Fantastic! They use the local cheese which gives it a slightly different taste than what you would imagine and it totally works! Chocolate pie - Quite tasty. I was a bit weary as others have said it is just alright but we quite enjoyed it. Drinks (house red, margarita, and caipirinha with vodka and without) - Wine was pretty good as were the cocktails although the cocktails were a bit small. We came back to this restaurant because the food is good, the views are amazing, the staff is very courteous and kind, and the prices aren't bad. This is a very nice restaurant to spend an evening in.

Parking: small parking lot, but we had early dinner and it was fine. Seating: plenty of seating and are large windows with an ocean View. Menu: wide variety of foods. We wanted to really try some local Portuguese food and we did here. They also have a wide selection of wines and drinks. Recommendations: Lapas was surprisingly delicious. If you want to try something new, this is a great appetizer. Tasted very good with the butter and lemon. For comparison, tastes similar to a clam but tougher. You should also try the blood sausage and pineapple appetizer. For the main course, we got the seafood and rice. It's very large portion and meant for 2 people to share. But could def share with more people. For dessert, we got the chocolate homemade pie. Not the best dessert I've had, but was still good. Service: Server was friendly & polite and did speak a fair amount of English.

    Awesome place!

I wanted to share my experience at O Pescador in Rabo de Peixe, São Miguel, Azores, so other…read morevisitors can make informed decisions. From the moment we arrived, we received a great deal of attention and exceptional service. The owner recommended the fish dishes, and based on that recommendation, we each ordered one. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see that we had been charged €40 per fish dish. The owner, who had been very attentive throughout the meal, disappeared when it was time to pay, leaving us with no opportunity to ask questions about the charges. My family has deep roots in São Miguel, and because we spent an entire month on the island, we had the opportunity to dine at many restaurants, including several that were much more upscale than O Pescador. After sharing our experience with local residents and staff at other restaurants, every person we spoke with told us that comparable fish dishes would typically cost no more than about €18 each. They all expressed surprise at what we had been charged. What made the experience even more disappointing is that the owners are from the United States. As fellow Americans, I couldn't help but wonder whether they assumed we wouldn't question the €40 price because those prices are more common in some U.S. restaurants. I have no way of knowing if that was the case, but it certainly crossed my mind after learning what the typical local prices are. I understand that restaurant prices can vary, but the difference between what we paid and what we were consistently told was the normal price was significant. It left us feeling taken advantage of and put a damper on an otherwise wonderful month in São Miguel. My advice to anyone dining there is to ask the price of any fish or daily specials before ordering if the price isn't clearly listed on the menu, even if the dish is recommended by the owner. I hope sharing my experience helps other visitors avoid the same disappointment.

Service was good, ordered the usual local fresh cheese, chef's garlic shrimps, and the grilled limpets. All the appetizers was pretty good, but not the best we've had so far on the island. For the entrees we ordered the traditional tripe, seafood rice and the grilled tuna. The tuna was tender and melted in your mouth, the tripe and seafood rice were bextremely salty. It was just too difficult to eat. Our fingers was swelling up just after a few bites and couldn't get enough water. But the is not a uncommon issue. Any of the "stewed" traditional dishes are super salty in most of the restaurants. I felt like I was a big piece of salted cod after how much salt was ingested from the entrees.

If you're walking north towards Rua de Sao Joao, it's on the right as you're walking passed the parking lot. Boca de Cena is a small restaurant that is very modern, with lots of mood lighting. I would even go so far as to label it a romantic place to bring dates. The restaurant has about 9-10 tables, depending on the table arrangement. It was never busy when I was there, likely because it was not high tourist season, so reservations were not necessary but I can see it getting busy during the summer months. Although there are a number of options on the menu, one or two items may not be available due to lack of ingredients. For fish options, they only make what was caught that day. For instance, I was fortunate enough to order the only ahi tuna that they had that day. Over the two visits, I ordered the grilled shrimp, the ahi tuna, and the grilled octopus. The grilled shrimp were pretty large and tasty. I thought the ahi tuna was just okay. Like at other restaurants, it seems like they unnecessarily add too much salt to an already salty protein. The grilled octopus was my favorite of all the dishes. The octopus was nicely grilled so that it had a crunch, but was still soft and tender. The suckers on the tentacles fell off in my mouth, so that added some fun texture to the mix. I also ordered a chocolate cake, but you get 2 small slices so it wasn't worth it. Dinner came out to about 40€. There is one wait staff now, so the chef no longer runs the front and the back as others have mentioned.
