Unethical Billing Practices & Transcript Withholding - BEWARE I attended Quincy College years ago and recently requested my transcript for an important career opportunity. To my shock, they are charging me for a summer course I never attended, claiming I was present despite having no records or recollection of ever enrolling. The professor insists I was there, yet I know for a fact I never took the class. Now, Quincy College is refusing to release my transcript, effectively holding my education hostage over a false charge from seven years ago. Instead of helping resolve the issue, they've been dismissive and unhelpful, pushing me to dispute it with a professor rather than addressing their own records. This kind of careless administration and unethical billing is completely unacceptable. If you're considering Quincy College, be extremely cautious--they may charge you for classes you never took and block access to your own academic records. I'll be escalating this to the Attorney General's office and legal action if necessary. No school should operate this way. Avoid Quincy College if you value transparency and fairness. read more

It's only my second week here...very mean professors. I've called Quincy college maybe 80 times since I've applied, 2 times someone answered and transfers me. I come in person and the average wait time to speak to admissions/financial aid is 40 minutes- 1 hour minimum. Is there not enough staff ? I'm not used to this at all coming from BHCC. read more

HORRIBLE!! They charged me for a class I didn't take and sat in my face and said even if it's their fault which it looks like it is, I would still have to pay for the class. The staff is horrible the teachers don't teach and they spend more money renovating than the education of their students. Quincy College is my first experience with a college and it has been nothing but struggle, miscommunication, and improper guidance. Trying to get any direct response from faculty is extremely difficult and maybe by the 10th email you will get an answer. Online program is not user friendly and financial aid office is useless and rude. read more

I very enjoy the school specially when I take classes with my friends. All my professors are very care about their students. The classes are comfortable and have opportunities for discussion problems. School also offers tutoring for students. If you study well for two years there's more options to transfer. read more

This college has very good prices for classes. You learn a lot in these classes as long as you choose the right professors. But ask the other students and they'll tell you what professor you should take.There are also a lot of resources available. You have access to career fairs, clubs, and this college has agreements with 4 year college institutions so you can transfer. Took a star off because of some minor problems. For example, it is a long process just to log into the school WIFI when you first sign up. Or if you transferred, you may have to go to the Bursar Office to sign up for a class because of some bug in the system for a prerequisite that you already fulfilled. However this is more of a reflection on how the college is being run and managed, which isn't as important as making sure that you are getting a quality education and have the ability to transfer. There are some really good professors who will teach better than you going to a four year institution with a class size of 500. read more

If you receive Federal loans for school BEWARE!! I was charged for classes I didn't take, double charged fees, and retroactively charged unexplained "adjustments" to my account. Ms. Pham, the business office supervisor, did not have an explanation and just said she would review it. Still not resolved. Ugh. I am horrified that just charge whatever they want. Be careful and review your course and fee statements periodically. My professor for my specific program is great, it's too bad this whole "fee" thing has left me with such a bad taste for the school. read more

I am an alumnus of QC. Class of 2003. I have been trying to have a transcript sent to Umass. The process involves either downloading and printing out and mailing an archaic paper form,going in to the office and requesting it personally or wending your way through the clunky,buggy QC Web Portal. It took me a week of emails and phone calls to and from their IT department to gain access to QC Portal in order to request my transcript. 26 days later, the transcript has yet to be sent to UMASS. GUESS WHAT? I can not access the portal again in order to re-request the transcript. Neither the enrollment office nor the IT department answer the phone. I have to submit another online ticket just to get access again. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO CALL THE OFFICE AND DO THIS OVER THE PHONE!!!! In comparison, Bunker Hill Community College has a seamless online process for making transcript requests. UMASS received my transcript from BHCC faster than I expected. While a student here they repeatedly confused me with another student of the same name. I was sent the other students grades. I would shop elsewhere for a certificate or for a two year degree. read more

I am so embarrassed to be graduating from this school. worst college experience of my life. the school couldn't even call out our names... worst graduation i have ever seen. this school is only good for taking your money and not replying to your emails. this school put me through and hell and back, being misadvised, by not giving us back our full refund of the parking pass etc. i kept thinking this will all be worth is when i graduate and feel that i have accomplished something big, We suffered a great pandemic and worked so hard to graduate this semester and this is all we got... i'm so incredibly upset, and feel like i didn't even graduate. This school is only concerned with making money and pushing THEIR political opinion. If u don't agree u have to retake classes, but if u give ur number to teachers they like u. Faculty can be very inappropriate with comments which can be considered sexual harassment and although other employees are aware of it, the people in charge DO NOTHING. I went to Quincy college and I did not do well at this school. For the class is difficult and had to understand and getting help from the learning center is hard. My advice is do not go to Quincy college it has a way to screwing up your life for I had to drop out of the school for I can not afford financial aid for the school anymore because of my grades. My overall experience at Quincy college has been pretty positive. The only thing I wish were different was the professors, at least the ones I had made their political views known on a daily basis and it became annoying when the whole classes would become about trump. I respect everyone's opinions and beliefs but felt if disagreed in the slightest bit politically was not ok. read more

I am a current student at Quincy College. and have ALOT to say. First the good. Location on south shore. Professors are ok so far. now the bad. Property upkeep is poor all around. 4 out of the 5 classes I have taken didnt even use the 'required $120 book. throwing more $$$ down the toilet. email prof and ask before you buy. The Admissions process/employees would be a joke if it weren't so painful. plan on extra trips to register because the portal NEVER works. The parking @ NQ is $50 for the chance to fight for a spot. NONSENSE! The upper management is just as bad as its lower level employees (teachers excluded). My specific dealings with the dean and VP have been fruitless and all of my issues are still open. Its beyond bad customer service and 95% of the students I've talked to agree. The classes are what they are, but outside of the classroom this place is bush league all around. read more

Terrible costumer service. They don't give you refund and charge you for things they should've charged months before. If you're an exchange student run away they super unfair and won't give you your money back and instead will charge you for things that you shouldn't be paying for I am so frustrated I can't even explain. i think the people here are extremely rude, and don't know how to do there jobs! Let me just say I gave them my credit card information for the $30 registration fee, and they charged my card $1200 for both of my classes without my knowledge! And the kicker was they would not refund me the money! They're grime as far as I'm concerned go somewhere else. Trust me. I have taken a few good classes here with some great teachers but I feel that the school overall is run poorly. Right now it's a necessary evil until I transfer to another school to complete my undergrad degree. Registering for classes here is extremley difficult. Their online enrollment system never seems to let you register for courses for one reason or another even if the courses are not full. Don't expect a response from their IT department on this, I've been holding my breath for several months now. This means you get to go wait in line up at their office which has been very understaffed everytime I've been there. Expect to wait in line for at least an hour or more. They usually have two people working at a time, even during the busy times which is ludicrous. I also had to wait an hour and a half to buy a parking pass which only takes about 2 minutes to complete. They should make this type of stuff more accesible without waiting in a line behind students who haven't even decided what courses they want to take yet. The teachers: Most of the teachers I had here have been wonderful! Only a few that I didn't like their teaching methods but that his more personal preferance than anything. Location: The new building is nice. Parking can be tricky but thankfully it's close to the T station which offers cheap parking. I take night classes there and wish there was more food options than potato chips from the vending machine as I come straight from work which I'm sure many others do too. I can tell you School never teach you if you are not interest to learn. The teacher of mine especially my biomanufacturing class teacher Prof Isso Bayala is a very hardworking teacher always tried to give us his best but sometimes students are not prepared to adept all required information. I noticed that the teacher( Prof. Isso Bayala) never quit he keep trying, again and again, to teach us properly and make a strong job candidate for the future. As per the example, I was presenting my presentation about "Environmental Monitoring" my teacher was listening very closely and make the whole classes listen about my project, lots of questions he answered, and the same question he asked again to the students to make sure all the students understand clearly. one more person I always saw in the hallway in the office or taking classes with other students the department of chair Prof. Bruce Van Dyke, he always smiles at us greeting quickly and asking how we were doing anything he can do for us that makes me a lot of different about relationships with students and teachers. Overall this is a good department in a good school where students can earn and build a career in the future. read more

Here's my take on this horrible tiny college... You're better off attending a state community college than QC. Their staff is horrible and I've come across some of the worst instructors ever! I dont think they even have the qualification to teach! After multiple issues with the adimissions, financial aid, and business offices, I learned to be prepared for each visit. Unless you're agressive and have all your stuff together, be sure to spend days or hours frustrated with the system! Staff is unprofessional and I find myself having to walk in, tell them what I want, then sit and make sure they get the situation resolved before I leave their office. Also, I always remember to get a receipt of every transaction and copies of everything!!! Believe me, you'd better have your own files at home to track their mistakes because 90% of the time, they'll mess up on your paperwork. Been there for approx a year and I've learned to keep good record and be a total B** in order to get anything done! My system works but extremely nor worth the energy! Were students and shouldnt need to worry about a screwd up school messing up your paperwork. In short, the staff is filled with a bunch of lazy deadbeat workers! read more

Oy vey, where to start..... The good: Decent location that is close to MBTA Even more decent now that everything is located in one place I've had fantastic professors so far, especially in the Science department The bad: The administration is awful (ie: admissions, advising, financial aid). If you ask five different people the same question prepare to receive five different answers. It is crucial that you stay on top of your stuff, especially if you receive financial aid. If you plan on enrolling in a program such as nursing or surgical tech and they tell you the schedule is 'to keep yourself available from 7-3', make sure to keep yourself available more like from 7-5. If you are an adult and attend during the day prepare to experience the trials and tribulations of high school all over again. There is so much more but so little time. I guess the place is okay overall but I found myself frustrated a lot and whenever I ask anyone else who goes/went there they describe the same feelings. Good luck. read more

Quincy College is great! They provide a great education at a great price. Their Quincy campus is right on the MBTA Braintree Red line (Quincy Center Stop) so it's easy for commuters. It is right in the heart of downtown Quincy so it's conveniently located near shops and restaurants. Also, their new book store is a Barnes and Noble partner! read more

I went to nursing school at Quincy and, while I experienced some of the problems of a negative reviewer, I saw it in a different light. I did have to wait in line a long time at the registrar's office to have a mistake sorted out. But I figure you get what you pay for, and the tuition is incredibly reasonable for the value of the education that you get. Many of my classmates were single mothers, struggling to work fulltime and go to school at the same time. I'm sure they would not have been able to afford college at all if the tuition had been much higher. So I accepted the fact that I had to waste a day sitting in line to fix an administrative problem. I figured it was still worth it all around. By the way, I would actually give the nursing school 4 stars - the teaching was really challenging, the instructors were excellent. I had to take some of the regular classes at Quincy which were not part of the nursing program (like anatomy & physiology) and they were not so good, maybe 2 stars, so I figured on averaging it out to 3 stars. read more

I've been enrolled at Quincy College for A few semesters now. Every semester I always say I'm going to transfer but due to the location I just haven't. As far as the teachers go. Some of them are really great, but some of them just aren't. I've had three professors that have had such thick accents that the entire class had trouble understanding what they were saying. I've also found that if you enroll in a class during the day you are more than likely going to get put in a class with a bunch of kids fresh from high school. Being 28 years old, I am there to learn and should not have to deal with kids talking through the entire class or showing up 45 minutes to an hour late, just being generally disruptive to the students in the class. I have also noticed that, depending on the teacher, the teaching level in the classes during the day seem to be downgraded gearing more towards the students fresh from a high school setting and should perhaps be enrolled in a college readiness course. As far as the office staff goes... they are horrible! Every semester enrolling in classes is a nightmare! None of the offices there seem to communicate with each other. This semester when it came time to enroll in classes I called the Financial aid office to make sure they had all of the necessary paperwork completed to sign up for classes. In past semesters I would receive countless papers stating that they had not received certain things from me. I would make the 30 minute drive into the college only to find that they did in fact have all the items they needed. This year I wanted to be certain. I called on two separate occasions and was told both times that I was "all set" I was ready to sign up for classes. I went to sign up for classes. I filled out the paperwork, waited in line at the enrollment office for 45 minutes to have the very rude woman at the enrollment desk tell me that she couldn't sign me up for classes unless I had my paperwork signed off on by a member on the admissions department. Off to the admissions department I went. This department is an absolute joke! There are never enough staff members available to help students. When enrollment for the semester first opens they will only have 3 advisers in the office. One of which will only help veterans or military students. The other two will help a student, get up go get a cup of coffee, walk around the office, make personal phone calls and then help another student. Its ridiculous. On this particular occasion I sat in the advisers office for two hours before I was called. The adviser I saw looked at my paper and said " do you have any questions about these classes?" When I didn't he just signed his initials and sent me on my way. I had waited two hours for a 30 second ordeal!! Back to the enrollment office. Wait in line for another 30 minutes only to find " your financial aid hasn't been posted" I had to go over to the office for them to tell me that they were missing one item. This is the reason I called twice over two weeks ago!!! All in all it took me countless phone calls, 3 trips to the office and a bunch of frustrations to get enrolled in twoclasses this semester.Unfortunately it is this way every semester. Parking at Newport Hall? Forget about it!! Yes they sell parking passes... but they do not guarantee you a parking space!! You spend the $25 or so for the parking pass and have to either drive around the lot a million times fighting to get a parking space or park in the lot for the T at a cost of $5 per visit. If you have classes on more than one day a week its just not worth it. I recommend taking classes at night in Saville or Temple. You can almost always find a spot to park on the first or second try and if you park on the street its free. ( be careful though, most are one or two hour parking until 6 pm) I will be moving a bit further away from Quincy college in the next few months, I think this is all the reason I need to enroll in another school. I';; finish out this semester at "dysfunction junction" and transfer to another school. read more

I graduated here back in 2009 and I wouldn't have had I not checked in with my advisor because they never told me I was eligible to graduate when I signed up for my last semester. They are so unorganized it's ridiculous. I had to call them to ask if I was able to even attend the school in the first place. They also sent me a welcome letter 3 months after I started. In my opinion, spend the money and go to a better school. read more

I'm currently enrolled at quincy college and having attended 2 other schools before hand I feel this school is better. I attended lesley university where I had almost not choice in what I could take when and the price was just crazy. I attended massasoit (massatoilet) which I felt was a highschool that had no advisors and no one to even talk to about your plans. Quincy college has a great portal with access to all your account information and also has advisors you can see. Just this year they have assigned advisors which I missed out on because I will be graduating. The price is lower than state universities so it's great for taking the core courses. There are adjunct teachers whom aren't always the best but you can say so on their evaluation at the end of the course. To be in any college it is up to you to do the research NO school absolutely NO school is going to be able to help you make every single little choice, you have to go after what you want so blaming staff isn't the answer. I have had no problem with the staff more problems with just policies i didn't agree with that they had no control of. They have so many students they wont tell you when you are elligable for things or when to sign up its up to you anywhere though. Read your emails, read your programs course list and watch your portal accounts transcript and you wont have a problem. PARKING is my only complaint. Now that its located directly in the center its not better. there is 1 or 2 hour street parking or pay 100 for the semester where they have 80 available spots. unfortunately right now the MBTA has no parking at quincy center making it harder. read more

I do LPN program here and this program is way better than I expected. I can only speak for my program as I heard not very good reviews from students from other lpn class. So, instructors are UNBELEAVABLE. I did not wanted to come to this school at first because it is far from my house but now I feel that all this travel will worth it . Clinical sites are not bad.They also have LPN to RN program which is awesome and will have RN to BSN. Now they are 4 year school. I am very positive about the program itself so far but this school has something to do with parking for students. This is just ridiculous to pay for parking or to park two miles away. Literally, shame on you Quincy College for that. read more

I am currently a student here, and I have to say this school is way better than I thought it would be! All of my professors so far have been super nice and care to see students succeed. They have done everything to help me from what I've noticed, and are great with responding to emails on time and help with questions you have. The advising office is good as well. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I wish it was a 4 year school.. But I got an email saying they might be offering bachelors degrees.. Let's hope!! read more

Enrollment Office. If you decide to register for classes, be prepare to spend at school at least half a day! I had payment plan approved by 2 people, and the lady in the student account office was trying to figure out how to create my new payment plan, even though she had 2 approval letters in the front of her with excellent explanation. Had to repeat myself so many times, that probably " GREEK" would have understand me better. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Very bad, work ethic. I recently graduated from the full time RN program at Quincy College. If you are thinking of enrolling, I would say "Beware!" This program is so badly organized and administrated, it is basically a joke. The dean is condescending and rude to students. There is only one or two really good instructors, the remainder are not experts in the subjects they are teaching. I heard a lot of "I don't know" in response to questions. These instructors were not prepared for lectures and did not make them interactive or interesting. Basically, they would read the slides that had already been distributed. So, if you read the text and slides, you wouldn't gain anything new from your lecture. Exams were a joke. They always, always had a least 5 questions that were incorrectly worded and it was never guaranteed that the faculty would give back credit on these questions, even if you argued your point. The importance of this is that in this program only your 4 exams are counted for your grade so if you fail an exam (less than 72) you had very little opportunity to increase your grade so every points counts. Each instructor contributes their own questions to the exam based on the subject matter they have taught. Well, the instructors mentioned above always had the most confusing, poorly worded questions, you were guaranteed to get them wrong. Student body tried to address these concerns with the Dean of Nursing in an extremely frustrating and insulting meeting with no results. Clinicals were very poorly organized and several were stopped mid-term because of clinical instructors leaving, facilities refusing the college students, etc.because the appropriate paperwork was not filed by the college. The student attending these clinicals had to rearrange their entire lives to make up time that was a result of Quincy Colleges failure. Very frustrating. Also, some of the clinical sites are so sub-par they were not appropriate places for learning. My understanding is that the incoming student in Sept 2013 are getting a new, overhauled program. Too bad it was done at the expense of my graduating class. I'm pretty sure that the program will still have many of the issues described above. If you have the opportunity for another nursing program, I would take it. read more
