Great place, reasonable prices. A little tired but more than made up in the quality of the food.

JK's Cafe and Grill - Hot chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, one of the dessert choices for the Sunday roast dinner.

The British beef roast is different from the American version, and they did a very good job on the roast as each slice of beef was nice and tender. The Brussel sprouts and potatoes that complemented the main course were icing on the cake! I typically don't like sweets but their hot chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was a beautiful finale to my meal! Staff are friendly and efficient. The indoor dining room is cozy, while there is an option to sit outdoor as well. Their restroom has paper towels to dry your hands, which is typically not found in many restrooms here in the UK except for fancy luxurious establishments so that was a very pleasant surprise.

We chose this little family run cafe/steakhouse and it proved to be a sound decision. Generous portions of home-cooked food all round. I had the chicken liver pâté to start and it was delightful. My sister polished off deep fried brie and currant jelly & my brother in law the chilli garlic prawns. All of the plates would have passed any cleanliness inspection afterward with absolutely nothing left. For mains, my niece had a steak burger & my nephew the rump steak, both available as kids meals. For the adults, they have many choices of cut of steak cooked to your liking. I agreed with my brother-in-law to share our meals him ordering the 10 oz. sirloin (which my sister also enjoyed) & I ordered the mixed grill. We both like our steaks rare and although some places struggle to deliver, JK's did not. Excellent value and my sister's family all went off with big smiles on their faces to warmer climes.

After all, there were no…read moreYelp reviews to guide me, the restaurant was about half a mile from my hotel, and I wandered past many other intriguing possibilities on my stroll to get there. But when I knew I'd have a free afternoon in Blackpool, I asked a friend for recommendations, and Deansgate was one of the three he provided. First off, this was one of those places where it seems everybody knows your name. That is -- except for me, everyone there was a regular. I could tell from the way the servers were interacting with the customers that they'd all been there before. Repeat customers make for a good recommendation. But don't worry -- they were friendly to me as well, the strange Yank who happened to wander in out of the cold. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, which arrived hot, a cloud of steam rising when I pierced the top with my fork. It his the spot on a chilly Blackpool day. As I sat there eating, listening in on all the gossip being bandied about, I almost felt as if I was part of the neighborhood. Looking around, I sort of wished I ordered the fish and chips, even though my Shepherd's Pie was tasty -- because the chips that came with my meal were good, and I suspected that the fish, which I saw many other customers eating, would have been good, too. But that'll have to be for my next visit to Blackpool. I'll be back, because the food was comforting and Deansgate Kitchen seemed authentic. The real deal.
