First thing to know, Downtown Omaha is kind of a grocery store desert - or at least that was the impression I got from my visit. We were travelling with our toddler and while I KNOW she should be 100% off bottles, we are picking our fights and she still enjoys one with her milk in the morning and in the evening. That being said, we only brought two bottles and planned on cleaning them as we went. Our only problem was we forgot dish soap. After asking the front desk where would be the easiest place to find some they recommended Cubby's and they were right! While you pay convenience store prices, it was easy to pick up what we needed and they had a few options which was nice. The store itself has a good variety of food, snacks, odds and ends, and likely serves as a little grocer for anyone who lives nearby. I wouldn't say I loved this place so much I would definitely return, but I will say it was clean, had what we needed, and was conveneint, which really was about all I could ask for in a nearby convenience store.

Sometimes a little higher than you would find at a larger supermarket...but you won't find a larger supermarket in this part of town! It's in the Brandeis Building, and to not distract from the majesty, the signage is kept small and vague, so you may not realize the Dollar General goodness available here. John's Grecian is an experience all in itself. Imagine walking into a deserted old mall, where John's is the lone food establishment standing tall. But when you step into the mall and begin walking, you can start to smell the delicious Greek aromas wafting through the air--follow your nose, and you'll be led straight to John's. It's a bit of a hidden gem in a forgotten spot, and honestly, it adds to the charm. My husband treated me, so I have no idea what the final bill was, but for the quality and quantity, it's always worth it. As long as John keeps slinging that delicious Greek food in that quiet mall, I'll keep coming back. OPA!
