For my husband and for myself is very important to write down this opinion about our just found gardeners We are 84 years of age, and I since 2021 had been at the doors of death in 2 different occasions and right now, I am recovering for an incident that send me for the third time to the surgery room During these very dire times our front and back yard had been growing without any care. We tried in at least 3 occasions to hire gardeners. In 2 occasions 2 different ones came to do the garden. In both cases they did it with a bad will and tried to be hired for a monthly commitment with a high price. Some others -3 of them- came to quote us giving us a very high price about the first cut and the monthly maintenance. Now, fortunately, I found thru the Internet Quick Pickk, I got in contact with Cesar and after a brief conversation sent him pictures of my middle size and small trees. Immediately, Cesar gave me an estimate and as he understood about my age and my SS monthly income, we agreed on a fair price that I can afford. On time, Cesar Jr and another young man came to take care of our front and rear yard. We do not have any grass, our garden are of small stones, with plants and the mentioned trees. Both gardeners did a great job, in a neat and dedicated effort. I want to highlight the complete dedication that these 2 young gardeners took to clean up and trim both trees and every plant. Moreover, was very remarkable to see that they also sprayed the little stones thru the whole garden to make them more even. New Ownership-BEWARE I have been a customer for many years and two owners; Matt and Steve. Never a problem or issue. On Sunday, July 3, 2022, I received a text from Cesar Rodriguez introducing himself as the new owner and to contact him regarding my bi-monthly service scheduled for July 5. I did and we agreed to move it to July 6. I also advised that my tall palm tree was in need of its annual trimming and to bring his ladder. He told me of all the great service he was going to provide. On July 5 (a day early) he showed up unannounced at 4:00pm saying he would do our service now. I was home so I agreed. We walked my yard together so I could familiarize him with it. He started complaining immediately (and not in a professional manner) and telling me that he could not do it for the price I had been paying. He also told me that my price no longer included trimming my palm trees (I have one tall one needing a ladder and three small ones at less than six feet) or my rosemary bush. I told him this has been included all these years. He said no one includes it and inferred I was lying. He continued to do nothing but complain the whole time he was here. While here his assistant broke off one of my low voltage landscape lights at the stem and is not fixable and must be replaced. He acknowledged responsibility. Bottom line when he left about an hour latter: - He did trim my bushes and shrubs in the backyard. - He did 1/2 of the rosemary and would do no more - He would not trim any of the palm trees - he did blow out the back yard but left several piles of debris - He would not blow out my front yard - He said he would come back and replace my broken landscape light, but now will not respond to my emails or text to do so. I wrote out his payment check (I just wanted him off my property and out of my life) to "Quick Pickk." He had me re-write it to his personal name saying, "all the paperwork is not complete to transfer the company." By the next morning I was so mad in hindsight that I called my bank to put a stop payment. Unfortunately, he had already processed it and I was too late. If I could give a "zero" rating I would. Had them replace my irrigation valve that was leaking for a few months. Did the job for a fair price, better than what was quoted by a plumber. About a year and half later, the same valve started leaking again and I gave them a call to comeback and take a look at it. I told them - I just wanted it to be fixed and be willing to pay to have it done right. They said - since we did it the first time we will comeback and fix it as long as it wasn't a different issue. They stopped by while I was at work and fixed for no charge. I was so surprised because in this day and age nobody really stands by their work and are quick to try to nickel and dime you. I hired Quick Pickk to do a semi-annual clean-up of my yard (trim bushes and shrubs, pick up dead leaves, etc.). After cancelling twice on me (due to "emergencies", they finally came almost two weeks after I originally contacted them. When I got home from work the day that they came, I noticed that they didn't finish the entire yard... Only three-quarters of it. I contacted them immediately and they said that there must of been some sort of a "misunderstanding" on their part. They said that they would come out and finish the work the following day. Matt can be a charming young man who would probably do fine on a small routine landscape install or remodel.  We hired him to redo a 3/4 acre yard while we were having a pool built. Unfortunately for us we didn't discover until after we signed the contract and gave him a large deposit that he was apparently over-extended and in way over his head. This review is but a brief summary of the largest problems. There were hardscape issues the biggest of which was that we wanted a low wall in the back of the property which he assured us he could do but after we signed the contract and were discussing details he admitted that he could only do one type and that was not the kind we had in mind.   He promised that he would be 'here every day' during the swimming pool excavation to be sure that the dirt they dug out was placed correctly to be used later for planting beds. He came the first day to consult with the excavators and never showed up again during that process. As a result there was not enough dirt saved and he and the pool builder had to have dirt brought back.   He promised at the beginning to install a temporary irrigation system to save the front yard plants and trees we intended to keep. Over a three week period ( during 110 degree heat) I kept evidencing (verbally, text, email) my concern for the plants with little or no response  from Matt other than "they are hearty plants/trees. They'll be fine." He was often unresponsive to texts and emails.  Finally he sent a worker out who apparently installed a valve incorrectly causing a major flood the day before the Fourth of July weekend.  Our pool builder sent his plumber to cap the pipe so we could have water in the house. Matt never showed up. His text response to my text informing him we now had water in the house was "Cool.  Have a good weekend."  When I had my own yard man come and install the valve correctly he noticed that Matt's guy had not even wired the valve to the controller box! Matt had assured me that the plants would be watered but since he never came up to oversee the work he didn't know that it would never work. This was the final straw that made it clear to us that he was not qualified to do this job.  We fired him. Sadly having never done this before we had signed his contract and given him the 50% down payment he required. We have since discovered that the larger more professional companies follow the industry standard of charging a 10% down payment. While he initially agreed to refund part of the down payment he wanted to keep $4,700 for the two days his laborers used chain saws to cut down and removed some palm trees and some fencing. Seemed pretty exorbitant. After much back and forth he agreed to keep only $3000 of our down payment. A lot of money for two labors for two days. read more
