At night however this is a five star joint since it is open 24 hours a day which Dunedin does not have many of. So if you are a smoker you can get your pack of cigarettes here that you left at the bar or a very hot Cuban that might help in preventing the looming hangover. Quick Nick's is a hole in the wall inside the Marathon gas station. I was tipped off to this super secret spot by some Dunedin locals who let me in on a town secret. Legend has it, every night at 3 AM an old Cuban woman comes here to make the day's supply of Cuban sandwiches. And what Cuban Sandwiches they are. They cost just a few dollars and come wrapped in foil. After purchasing, the cash register worker will press the whole foil sandwich wrap in the pannini press, just long enough to crisp the outside and warm the inside until its all alive and bubbling. The sandwich was big but, was old and soggy. I thought it would have been fresh since it was Saturday at 11 ish but it wasn't. I would not ever go back. Quick Nick's has the bare basics as far as groceries. It's a little cramped but they have a great selection of cold bottled beverages and pre-made sandwiches. I've only tried the Cuban which was good and the chicken salad croissant which believe it or not is excellent!. read more

Their sandwiches are old, soggy and flavorless, the store is always filthy and smells, the cashiers are rude and to top it off.....they go a mile down the road to the dollar tree, buy items and resell them for a premium. A $1 bottle of ibuprofen costs $6 here!!! And girls...if you need tampons...they're $7.99 for a box of 8 tampons!!!! I am a local here in Dunedin... and quick nicks is a place I avoid. I had just gotten off work and was stopping at the local gas station Quick Nicks in Dunedin. I have been going to this store for years and I have never had an issue before. I put 10 dollars on the pump and get a pack of smokes. The guy that worked there (first time I have ever seen him) was tall with pink braids in his hair. He at first tried to charge me 35 dollars for a pack of smokes and 10 in gas. When I stated it was wrong, he corrected the issue. I go out to pump gas and it only pumps 3.54 cents. I go back in and tell the guy it isn't letting me pump 10 and he says "go keep trying, it should work". So I go out and try and it doesn't work. I go back into the store, tell him it still isn't working and he says hang the pump up and he will start it over again for what I am owed. I do, and then the pump stops at 2.48 cents. I'm still owed just under 4 dollars and I have to go back in again and tell him the pump is messing up. He proceeds to tell me that "It would not do that, the pump does not just stop itself". I tell him to check the pump himself outside. He ignores me and tells me I am wrong again. I have to tell him multiple times to check the pump, he just keeps repeating that the pump would not do that, basically saying I am lying. He then asks me if I want him to call the cops. I say yes, they can check the pump and see I am telling the truth. So he chooses to come outside and check the pump. He then sees I am telling the truth, says calmly "That pump must be messed up then". We walk back into the store and he hands me a 5 dollar bill. I tell him I want gas and I will just move to another pump. He tells me no, he is done dealing with me. As I am walking out, he says to me "for future reference, don't yell at someone trying to help you". I did not "yell" at him. I simply got stern when he was basically calling me a liar, but I did not raise my voice. I told him for future reference, don't threaten your customers with calling the cops when you or your machines mess up. He then threatens to call the cops again and says to leave the store. So I walk out and tell him I will speak to his boss at a later date. He then says to me "I am the boss, mother F'r" as I am walking out the door. Im not sure if this guy is really the boss now or he was just lying. But he yelled that while I was walking out in front of another man and woman who just entered the store. I do not know what this guy's problem was. But he was either trying to skim money, doesn't know how to do his job or maybe he was high. But it sure seemed like he was trying to skim money. It was just before 1 AM on a Friday night. So i'm sure a lot of drunk people go in there that might not notice. Too bad for him I do not drink. I have spent thousands of dollars at that store over the years and every single other employee was great. But if this is the new owner, I am never going back. read more
