Today, my wife and two young children, came in for coffee and a bagel. We asked for a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and the man behind the counter forgot to toast the bagel. I asked for a new bagel toasted, and he refused. He said he needed to charge me for the new bagel. After years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent, this guy fought me tooth and nail, and would not toast me a new bagel. He said that I must pay for a new bagel. This guy was more concerned with two dollars, then keeping his customer satisfied, and doing the right thing. The other customers in the store were just as dumbfounded as we were. This guy did not give up, and he allowed me to reach my boiling point and walk out. He has officially lost our business forever, and forced me to spend time (which I never do) to write this negative review. He was the manager on duty, but not one of the people I typically see. Usually, we see the elder gentleman and his son, who are both very nice and know us by name. My wife and I intend on returning later today to meet with the owner and his family. They deserve to know this story. I have never been treated so terribly as a customer before. This guy does not deserve his job or any job in customer service for that matter. Then I ask for my sandwich, but they gave it to the other guy, who didn't order ahead of time and came into the store after me. Their response was "We don't take names when you order." Well ok, you pinpointed you're problem, but how is that supposed to make me feel any better about it? Anyway, I gave them 2 stars because they gave me my coffee for free. So now that this one is open, I thought the big new ShopRite would bring forward the best parts that Parsippany features. Things I like: Much more expansive and well lit. Aisles are longer and better organized. Things I dislike: Still not nearly as well organized as Parsippany. Those new digital price tags that are hard to read. The parking lot is laid out perpendicular to the building instead of parallel, so you have to commit to a row and you can easily get stuck there as people pull in and out. Yeah, Caldwell is still crowded after the expansion, whereas Parsippany spreads out very nicely. Fun closing fact: Went to leave last night and the traffic light never changed. The car in front of me gave up after a couple of minutes and went to the other driveway. I just made a right turn and U-turned. Something went bad on Essex County's side, I'm absolutely not holding that one against the supermarket. But it sealed the deal for me. The verdict: Continue west to the Parsippany location.

They aren't too receptive to getting pictures / talking out different ideas. In the end, the easiest option for something custom was to email a picture to be copied on to a sheet cake. The cake itself was delicious - the chocolate buttercream filling was rich and decadent. The actual cake could've been a bit more moist, but it was still really tasty. Prices are definitely high, but as expected since it's a locally owned bakery. A 1/2 sheet cake with some custom additions is around $150. Custom round cakes with fondant, tiering and more detail will run you $300+. The actual bakery is huge. I'd never been inside, but didn't realize there's also a ton of cafe seating, and a huge case filled with treats. I'd definitely consider again if I'm looking for a special occasion cake.
