This is a brand new Quick Chek location in Butler, NJ. I normally dont visit places like this, but since they were offering their deals, I obliged and tried it out. I will review the store as well as gas station. For those with no teeth and walk around in your pajamas all day, YES, they do have cigarettes, lottery and clean bathrooms.
Entrance/Parking Lot: The entrance looks like any normal Quick Chek location, perfectly blocking the crappy 7/11 behind it. There are two entrances, with one *legal* exit. Normally, if im coming from Kinnelon, I cut through the neighborhood behind it. It's pretty crappy how they built that big tan wall, right against the neighbor's driveway. There is plenty of parking, and along the side, against the wall, is unofficial parking as well.
Ive been noticing the parking lot has become a highschool hangout late nights at this place. I dont like it, because this is not a highschool hangout. This will last until 7/11 closes and the police start coming here instead.
Store: Very friendly employees. They always say hello and greet you, even if you are too grumpy to reply. Coffees are always fresh and well stocked. During the free drink promotion, this place was a wreck but employees were always quick to clean the mess and re-stock cups. FREE ATMS!!!
Items: I do not understand why people do their food shopping at a Quick Chek rather than a real supermarket with coupons and sales... But they have all the basic necessary items for someone who wants to overspend. There are plenty of food stores on Rt.23 so there shouldnt be any excuse.
Food: It seems like they are trying to drum up business with any size $2.99 sandwiches. The sandwiches are just "eh" but worth it. I certainly wouldnt spend full price. Beware, mac and cheese bites might cause diarrhea.
Checkout: Personally, I do not like the self-checkout as it takes away from the human element of a storefront. If you borrow an employees ID, the register will take a % off the total bill with discounted drinks.
Gas: The attendants are prompt and friendly. They give you exactly what you ask for and use formal words such as "sir" and "ma'am" while speaking. Plenty of pumps available for quick service. In fact, I waited 20 seconds at a pump today, and an employee apologized for keeping me waiting. However, I refuse to tip gas attendants.
The thing that I do not like about Quick Chek in general is they hold their employees accountable for people who drive off without paying. This is illegal BTW. They are just a crap corporate company. They also treat their employees badly and ignore labor laws regarding breaks.
Conclusion: Whether you need a free ATM or want a cheap sandwich that tastes decent, this is your place. If you need groceries, go to Stop and Shop..... idiots. Try out the new place while it feels new. Shoutout to Sandy and Lucia as well for being always friendly. read more
