This place is clean and sterile, exactly how a lab should be. They have a super easy check-in on a kiosk, and a front desk staff member to greet you. I made an appointment online, which is honestly the best way to get in and be seen at a desired time. You can select the day and time, and get a text or email confirmation. Very easy. When I arrived, I was greeted by "Harry" and checked in immediately. He was the laboratory technician as well, and if getting a blood test could be graded, I would give him an A+. Not going to lie, needles are scary, but he was super quick and I was out in literally 2 minutes. Thanks Harry! Although you can walk-in into the laboratory for your tests, it is most advisable to set up an appointment online...really worth it. I had an appointment set at 1:30 pm. I arrived 5 minutes before the set time, checked-in on the tablet available by reception and was seen by the phlebotomist exactly at 1:30pm! How that's for timeliness...? There was a TV display showing all the other patients waiting to be seen and the walk-ins had something like 15 minutes wait at the earliest, and even 45 minutes at the latest. It's worth to get an appointment! The receptionist was courteous and all in smiles, in spite of the large queue inside the waiting area. All she did was take a copy of my medical insurance card and I was off and inside the lab for my tests. The phlebotomist assigned to me was friendly, still in smiles in spite of the big workload and time of the day. And she was well-informed and helpful with all the questions I had regardings the tests. And very light-handed on the needle as well. Great place to get your lab work done! Good access for getting Labs only (Maybe?). Saved me a trip downtown and is a HUGE relief for me. The small seating room filled up quickly, and my walk in appt took awhile. Biggest problem was all the coughing adults and children with no masks on, in a tight space. I was surprised. There were no masks offered or available, or signs to wear one, and no sanitary foam dispensers for hands. So, this was so uncomfortable and different than the Labs I go to in other locations that are so clean and conscious of all that. Left me focusing on why? Not my preferred location, but this was the closest one that offered the glucose testing for gestational diabetes. Three hours I had to sit on small, uncomfortable chairs surrounded by fellow patients who didn't have the decency to take their loud calls outside. The staff didn't even bother to enforce their "no cellphone policy". These Russian and Mexican patients were making calls on speaker in the small waiting room, and I had to sit through that for three hours. Silver lining: the phlebotomists are super nice. They offered me a small bottle of water and happily chatted about my pregnancy. They were also very patient with my veins that like to play peek-a-boo. I got pricked in four different spots six times during those three hours but they kept asking me if I was okay and if I needed a drink. read more

I scheduled the next, closest time appointment and it scheduled me for this location. When I went in for my appointment I was told I need to reschedule because they can't do my test because they are the only location that closes for lunch. She didn't offer me any solutions, like come back when we reopen. She basically threw my paperwork back at me. I left furious and crying. I have children and work and taking more time off doesn't work for me. They were so rude and unhelpful and I needed this done today so it can be processed before my next ob appointment. You can't ask any employee. Having no appointment is just an excuse for abusive treatment of people they don't like. I went in this morning to have blood drawn at Quest Diagnostics in West Sacramento. Carlos, The Lab Technician or phlebotomists was amazing. Normally the butterfly needle is used to draw blood from me well he did not use that and used a needle a little bit bigger. I was for sure it would hurt more. Let me tell you, he was gentle and I did not feel a thing. I didn't even bruise! They refuse to take walk-in's even when the app shows availability. I tried for a half hour to schedule an appointment on the app but kept getting an error. Despite the fact the app showed an available slot, the guy insisted they're calendar was full and wouldn't even check to see if the slot was filled. This is the second time this sort of thing has happened to me at this location. They're not always very friendly. Needless to say, I won't return to this location. My experience was different than Kim W. The lab is in a modern medical office building with off street parking and easy to get to from downtown Sacramento. Quest is a national lab and it is not possible to contact the labs directly as they do not answer their telephones. I prepaid my labs (to save money through a third party Internet site) and set up an appointment online. Although the waiting room was almost full I was taken in at my appointed time.
