I tend to have a vasovagal response to needles (pass out/ get really dizzy from blood pooling to your legs). I always tell the phlebotomist anywhere beforehand, so they are aware. I have been to this location 3 times recently and all times the phlebotomists have been incredibly empathetic and caring. In the past at other hospitals or labs I have dealt with so much judgement from health care workers for a symptom I have almost no control over. This is why I will always go to this location from now on. I visited this location yesterday and the phlebotomist even offered to let me lay down while getting the blood draw, which was truly going the extra mile for me. I had routine lab work done and was told the results would be available within a few days. Instead, I ended up waiting almost two full weeks--with no updates or explanations. I checked the patient portal multiple times and even called in to follow up, only to be told the results were still "processing." There was no urgency or accountability on their part, which made the delay even more stressful. These were tests that should have had a quick turnaround. When you're waiting on results that affect your health decisions, two weeks feels like forever. I scheduled an appointment online which was very simple and easy...I was actually 20 minutes early to my appointment, check in is through a tablet, you scan your CDL and then your insurance card and then take a seat. The lobby is pretty basic, theres a lot of chairs and a tv and everything is white/plain but I dont expect it to be too comfortable since the process is quick and easy. I was actually taken in early (since I arrived early) and I was in and out of there in less than 10 min. I had my blood drawn and it was painless compared to other places. At 4 they stop accepting walk ins every one with an appointment was seen by 3:45 I sat there for the additional fifteen minutes in an EMPTY ROOM. I been going to Quest for years and this location was by far the most unprofessional one of them all . Left my OB appointment across the street having to do some very important prenatal labs and popped my head in there to see if they would of be able to have time for a walk in as I understand a waiting room with at least 5 people is full enough to make a appointment and I usually always schedule a appointment but these labs needed to be done ASAP and this particular time I saw there was only one person in the waiting room so I checked in and sat down.. this was around 2:50 in the afternoon I wait for about 10 minutes as I'm waiting another person walks in with a scheduled appointment that appeared to be for 3pm now there's a total of 3 of us just waiting with still no acknowledgment from anyone (mind you there were no patients in the back either) I wait another 10 minutes one more person comes inside so now it's 4 of us sitting in the waiting room and still no acknowledgment from anyone on the staff . Finally around 3:18pm an older Hispanic lady with glasses comes out to say"Are all of you guys here for appointments? The only reason we have to deal with this place is because our medical provider doesn't have any other lab alternatives. In my opinion Quest is a barrier for people to get adequate health care in my community. There needs to be a complete business practice overhaul here that pays attention to basic customer service; ability to answer phone calls that compare to other medical providers; communicate effectively lab policies for locations specific for required appointments; and streamline patient wait times to limit over crowding in lobbies. I don't leave reviews generally, especially now due to COVID. I understand ppl have staffing issues. Although a certain level of customer service and support should be provided at all times. I had a scheduled appt for 1:40 I arrived late 1:48 ( due to nausea caused by my pregnancy) Long story short I attempted to check in via the kiosk and phone and was unable to. So as instructed I waited for a tech to come out and after 10 min one finally did. She asked if anyone needed assistance and there were a total of 3 ppl that did including myself. She assisted the two and went back to the back. I contacted the 1800 number and spoke to a rep that stated they'd reach out. After that call a Tech finally came from the back asking if I had an appt and let me know that if I'm late it's my fault ( mind you they have a 10min grace period) As well as informing me after I showed her my appt reminder via text with the location attached... that if it was not for their office they would not be able to assist me. After she went to the back and brought out her appt sheet she again asked for my name and eventually found me on their appt list. I finally got seen at 2:32. My advice should anyone from Quest review this, is to train your Phlebotomy Techs in customer service (they should already be trained in bedside manner) also attention to detail, and maybe get a receptionist. I know we're in the tech era and computers have taken a lot of jobs making it more cost effective for the company but when you have ppl (one of the ppl I mentioned above) in your waiting room with stool samples waiting for 30 min that's a problem (these are supposed to be kept at a certain temperature). Hopefully this was just a one time issue, because I have another appt coming up. read more

I have to give at least one star to give review. They are really zero stars. Quest labs are poorly run with people who are lazy and do not care about patients. My mom's doctor placed urgent lab order at 10a on a Friday. The Quest in South Land Park said there were no orders and sent my mom away. There was no offer to call the physician or clarify the order. They do this very routinely stating no orders when indeed there are orders. They do this to minimize their workload or they are just plain idiots who do not know how to read a computer! Then they continued to tell my mom which labs open on a Saturday. We go to this lab at 8a on a Saturday morning and the line is 50 people deep! Lots of elderly and sick people. Are you kidding? Everyone was complaining in the waiting room on how long the wait was for labs. I asked the technician who registered us, she says this is a typical Saturday. If they know demand is so high, why don't they staff up? These are sick people that you are talking about!?!? Obviously they think these patients won't complain because most of them are immigrants. Well guess what? I'm filing complaint with CDPH for poor care. Somebody needs to be the patient advocate! Poorly run labs with lack of patient care experience! I have had to come here twice in a week. During this covid, they are providing pagers and letting you sit in your car. I love this system and wish they would use it moving forward. Besides the pagers, the staff has been great from the people who sign you in to the ones who take the labs. The process was seamless. Never thought much about writing a review for a lab, but since this once a year necessity was more like a comedy of errors, I couldn't wait to place my disgruntledness on paper (or actually computer). I'm sure everyone even minorly involved isn't even aware or could care less of this inconvenience but myself. I have been going to the Mercy Family Health Center on Hospital Drive in South Sacramento for several years. Right next door to them is (or was) Quest Diagnostics, which is where I would take my doctor's referral to get my annual blood taken. Since blood should be taken from a patient that has fasted overnight, I of course took my slip home with plans to call the lab and schedule an appointment. After getting home, I noticed that the only address and phone number listed on my referral slip is my doctor's office. I seem to recall that there used to be a number and address automatically on the slip as an aid to let someone know where to go and how to get a hold of the lab itself. But since only the doctor's office was stamped on there I thought, well I guess they are now scheduling appointments for the lab. After getting the fax machine, I had to call them again and key a different department. After informing them that their fax machine goes off when calling the appointment scheduling number, the office staff member on the phone makes me feel stupid for calling. "No we do not schedule appointments for the lab!" No other help or polite apologies were offered. Eventually I go online to find out what to do next. I find what I thought was the correct address of the lab and schedule an appointment. The process was very simple and easy. And I got a confirmation e-mail with the date, time and address of where to go. On the morning of my appointment, me, being a participant of this comedy of errors, drives to the building where I had always gone before. The sign is no longer there and it appears to be under remodeling construction. The sign that was posted explains that they have relocated the office. I look at my address again and realize that the address has changed. Instead of Hospital Drive, it is on Timberlake Dr., which is still very close to where I am. So I proceed to look for this address and drive up and down the street several times to no avail. Can't find it anywhere! The Quest Diagnostics sign or even an address number seems to have eluded me. I don't have a phone number of the lab, because it isn't listed even on my confirmation slip. I end up going all the way to my doctor's office to get directions. The receptionist tells me, its right next door. I'm like, really? Obviously I won't get the help from her. I go back to the former lab and read the posted address again and notice that it says they are near the Target shopping center. Yay! A clue! Finally, I catch a glimpse of the lab and make a quick turn into the strip mall. Success! But now I am 20 minutes late for my appointment. When I arrive to sign in, I apologize for being late and explained that I was lost finding them. The receptionist was very sweet and said "no problem at all". I sit down in the reception area and wait, and wait, and wait. An hour and 15 minutes later after seeing other patients come and go, I went up to the reception desk to see if I was overlooked. She says, "I'm entering your name into the system right now". Even though I expected to wait because of being tardy, I was a little suspicious that my info was finally getting entered in at such a late time period. After a little more waiting, I finally get called in with a "sorry for the wait" response. Five minutes later, my blood is drawn and I'm back outside to get home. What a waste of my morning! I had a 8:20 appointment at the Timberlake location, at 8:30 when I walked out, 4 people from 8:10 were still in line for their blood to be drawn. Seems like they schedule four appointments every 10 minutes, I do not know if the staffing is sufficient to support this?
