I have always had veins that are hard to find for blood draws. After having multiple failed attempts at my doctor's office over the years, I found that Quest was able to find my veins quickly and painlessly. However, the last few times I have gone to this location, I was treated horribly because they couldn't find my veins. If you see Ron, then run. The first time I saw him, he was bragging about how he was the best for those who are hard sticks, but he then proceeded to lecture me about my pre existing conditions and try to tell me what medications and supplements I should be taking though I never asked and was only there for labs. Then he proceeded to not be able to find my veins and have to get someone else to do it. A couple of weeks ago, I went to this location again bc he was the only bad experience I had had until then. However, the tech I did see said she couldn't find a good vein and sent me to him. I didn't love that but decided to give him a chance. He then told me that I should have had more water to drink and that I didn't dress warmly enough bc if I had it would be easier to find a vein etc. I had enough and said I would come back another day. The next week, I had a ton of water to drink and even had 32 ounces of water in the 2 hours before I came in. The same tech said she couldn't find anything and sent me to Ron. He said the same things to me. He put a warmer on my hand and lectured me about water and warm clothes and I informed him I had done both (obviously I can't wear gloves or long sleeves while I'm actually getting the blood draw so I'm not sure what he wanted from me). He then stuck my hand without using the tourniquet first and dug around making disapproving noises. Eventually, he removed the needle and said he would try again. I told him no and he went on to repeat his tired advice which I had already followed. How is it that all of the sudden no one here can find a vein? I know I'm a hard stick but I'm hydrated and the veins are in there. I told him that I was tired of being treated like I had done something wrong even when I did everything they said and I can't help that this is how my veins are. Not sure how someone whose job is to draw blood can be so bad at it. read more

I am so disappointing in Quest Diagnostics. First, the sticker was bad! And second, I still cannot see the results and it's been 10 days since my tests. in this day and age, a patient should be able to see lab results as soon as they are available. I went here some routine blood tests. Been going here for years. A new phlebotomist, Frieda (?) was immediately frustrated because she couldn't find my doctor and her system and insisted the name of the clinic was wrong. I told her I've had the same doc and clinic for years so I don't know what she can do. She left and someone else helped her figure it out. Then, after her trying to enter the blood order into her computer to 30minutes (usually my appts are under 10 mins in and out) I asked if this was going ti be much longer because I had another appointment I needed to get to. She immediately raised her voice and said do you want you papers/order back. I said I guess so. She handed them ti me when I took them she went off on how rude I am. I said this is the worst customer service ever. She then screamed at me that I am the worst patient ever. The woman clearly is unstable. read more

I went there for a stool study. They said I didnt need an appointment to return the samples. After 45mins of being ignored I said I just have a dropoff. They said "oh, you need an appointment for that". After another 30 mins. they proceeded to label my 5 samples, but they came up with 7 labels. Looking very confused they double labeled one jar and just threw the 7th label in the sack with the samples. 2 days later I get a message that they gave me the wrong containers and I need to repeat the samples. I make an appointment to see what had happened. I asked to see a manager to explain and guarantee that they had it right this time. No one there knew what had happened so I asked for a manager to call me. No one ever did. You cant reach a person there by phone and there is no receptionist to greet you when you check in. The electronic check in fails often and people just wonder around the waiting room wondering if they will be seen. Very incompetent a d uncaring about customers! read more

So, it was time to visit the vampires again. 7:46 am: Upon walking in the door, I was ready for this to be a 1 star rating. I felt ignored by the staff, I have no idea how they would see me standing in the waiting room since it was very poorly designed. However, once they finally noticed me, I was extremely impressed with the rest of my experience. Barb was extremely efficient, and did everything, including drawing my blood. I am a very hard stick, but Barb worked her magic, and was able to draw 4 vials of blood in less than 1 minute. She had an arsenal of distract tactics, that actually worked! I was impressed. I was scheduled to go to the Quest Diagnostics that was inside of Shawnee Mission Medical Center, but after some misdirection from the very friendly staff there, I ended up at this location. It's much more convenient than the one in SMMC, so if I had to do it over again I would schedule my blood draw here. 7:58 am: On my way home. read more

Absolutely the WORST automated phone system I've ever encountered. This company seems to be recommended by a lot of physicians. Making an appointment through their phone system is a joke. The prompts are not actually linked correctly and there is no simple way to talk to a human being.....even to ask a simple question like "Are you open on Labor Day", yet these jerks send an email satisfaction survey. Corporate indifference and hypocrisy at its finest. I recommend finding a different lab. read more

Horrible experience! The clay Edwards location was a seething ashtray and not clean. I left there and went to the liberty location where I was told to fast then the gal repeated herself over and over again when I was simply following doctors orders. This morning I went to the location at the legends. I was the third one who walked in the door yet the sixth person that was able to go in and have her blood drawn. They small teeny woman who was your phlebotomist, made absolutely no I contact there was no smile there was no greeting there it was very cold and routine. I asked her how many years she had been doing drawing blood she replied "two is that Okay" in a snarky attitude Wow! Never quest again. read more

Nobody handles my urine as well as these people. The first thing you see when you walk in is the welcoming sight of several people watching an infomercial on a small tv on the wall. How nice is that! The quality of the clip board you sign in on is exemplary! There are several rows of seating with a few chairs in each row, very well designed. The short walk from the waiting room to the bathroom is riddled with pleasant sights of employees doing paper work and collecting samples from other individuals there for various reasons. When you get to the bathroom they allow you to choose your own urine container, a very nice touch! The bathrooms include a toilet and sink. Once you are done you give your urine to an employee and they send you on your way. They exceed expectations in every possible way! read more

Ok, put a fork in me, I'm done. I'm updating my 3 star review to 1 star...and I usually don't give 1 star if the overall experience has been ok despite some bad experiences, but today's experience at this Quest location was 100% unacceptable and deserving of 1 star. Today, I went in to have labs drawn and I had scheduled an appointment. My doctor had previously given standing orders for my labs as she trusts me to know when I need to have them done. The last time I was here, they had my standing orders in a file cabinet in a pile of other orders and not in the computer, but they were able to locate them and draw my labs. This time, they were in a tizzy because of computer issues, but apparently the phlebotomist did not believe me when I told her my orders were probably stored in the file cabinet instead calling another facility to have them check the computer. Guess what? Not in the computer. I could have told her that. As a matter of fact, I did! I reiterated that my orders were probably still in the file cabinet. This time, another phlebotomist overheard and asked how often I was supposed to have my labs drawn. I told her that they are "prn" (as needed). In the nastiest tone of voice she could possibly muster, she snarled in response, "Might as well just go because we don't do prn!" Of course, that's not true because they have done it for me previously and I had previously stated so, which essentially means that was being accused of lying and being kicked out for no apparent reason other than this person sized me up and decided I was riffraff and not worthy of her time or respect. Believe me, I was being perfectly reasonable and pleasant despite the crazy atmosphere during this visit. Not being one to make a bad situation worse, I left and called my doctor's office to request that my orders be called over to Lab Corp. My insurance is changing in January and I'm really hopeful that I will be able to use Lab Corp with my new insurance because Quest doesn't deserve my repeat business if they believe treating their patients so rudely is acceptable. read more

The staff at our local clinic are fine (not great), but the company itself is a machine, making it extremely difficult (if not impossible) to speak to an actual employee. Although my dr sent lab tests twice, they weren't received (in spite of my drs confirmation fax that it WAS received), but there's no way to ensure that they have it without actually going to the lab (because, again, actually talking to a person is basically impossible). Quest diagnostics symbolizes the sad state of America's health care system. read more

The staff here is horrible. THREE times I have told them I needed a warmer for my veins but they refuse to give them to me. They always say "we'll see when we get there". And every time they have to dig around because my veins need to be warmed up to increase flow since they have been used so much before. One time I had to be stuck twice and the rude woman that refused to give me a warmer didn't even apologize. This time a different employee refused to give me a warmer and had to dig around and ended up getting blood but didn't get it in the right tubes!! So I had to get stuck twice again. Not everyone that gets labs is pregnant, old, or a one-timer. Some people have chronic conditions (like me) that need monthly blood draws and don't have the vein capacity for them to keep getting damaged. I have a dialysis graft in one arm so I can only get blood drawn from the other. I'm already down to one arm and this clinic is ruining the veins I have left. Do you as an employer pay for the warmers? No, I do not think so. Just give me the warmers and believe me when I say I need them!!! Also, do away with the smirks and condescending attitudes. If you didn't want to be of service to others, you shouldn't have entered the health profession. read more

I chose to have labs done here because I have to fast & they're open on Saturday a.m.. I'm being generous with 2 stars because six months ago I had a quick & uneventful visit. This time I called them on Tuesday to verify that they received my faxed orders & left before & after 4 pm phone #s. On Thursday July 3, I arrived home after 4 & there was a message to call them back before 6 (no phone # left) & press 7. After I tracked down their # I called over & over & over and nobody is answering the phone. Tomorrow is the 4th & I have an appt. there on Saturday a.m. - dr. appt. Tuesday. There is no such thing as Customer Service at this place. If I make a trip over there & they don't have my orders, they're going to have an unpleasant Saturday. Unfortunately my insurance insists I use Quest. read more
