As dismayed as I was to hear that Peacehealth sold their labs to Quest Diagnostics, I was hopeful…read morethat the efficient, cheerful, accurate services previously performed by Peacehealth would carry over to Quest. Um, nope. Not even close. A few weeks ago a loved one needed a "stat" blood test to see if a serious infection might be present. Because his doctor's office was right across the street from Quest's location in the "Bunker Building" outside the hospital, we walked right over for a blood draw. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. Even though there were only two other patients present in the waiting room on this weekday afternoon, we waited for over an hour for this blood draw. But that wasn't the worst of it. The test was supposed to be run right away, so that we could make a decision about the severity of my loved one's symptoms. In fact, there was a chance that hospitalization might be required depending on the outcome. Our physician assured us that as soon as she heard back from Quest she would contact us, and that at most it would be three hours. So we headed home and waited for her call. FOUR hours later, she called. She was very dismayed. After trying several times to get ahold of Quest, she found out they had "accidentally" sent my loved one's STAT blood test to Seattle. Apparently, instead of blood tests being run locally as they were when Peacehealth ran the lab, Quest sends the blood to their main facility in Seattle. But stat labs are supposed to stay and be run in Bellingham. This was a huge oops, with potentially life-threatening consequences. We waited several more anxious hours until his blood was located and the test was run - in fact the call from our doctor did not come until well after midnight. For a "stat" test that had been ordered before 4pm. I absolutely will do everything in my power not to use Quest labs if at all possible. I can only hope other peoples' lives aren't being put in danger by their poor service.

Since I was required to complete my physical within that same 48-hour window, I did not want to risk missing the deadline and therefore made the drive to the clinic in person. When I arrived, there were multiple receptionists in the back who could have answered my call but did not. The receptionist who assisted me informed me that I would need to speak with the individual responsible for scheduling physical appointments. I waited for her to come out; she asked a few questions and then returned to the back. When she returned, she appeared disorganized and stated that she was unable to schedule me for that day. Just went for a gender ultrasound scan in the Northwest office and I am super upset. The office…read moresays to have a second adult if you bring children under a certain age, and my almost three year old cane with my husband and I today. My husband was asked to take my son out and was left to sit outside because my son was playing and being a happy boy like most toddlers do. Not so sure someone who is not able to handle children should be the one scanning a woman's baby. I have always had a really nice lady do my scans but this seemed to be maybe someone new. Just very upset he had to miss this appointment. I know when children are acting up and have to say, my son was being a boy and playing with his toys but no crying or whining. Very annoyed. Also, the older lady at the front desk seems miserable! Not the lady who checked me in this time but the one who is a bit older and also seems to hate children. Why work in an office where women come all the time with kids and to scan their babies if you hate kids?
