They are very welcoming, have all the equipment you'd want and a whole lot more by way of creature comforts. Sometimes it feels like coordinating a drop in takes as long as the class--not so here, in 5 mins between their website and wodify I was signed up, waivered, and paid up. Class times are extremely convenient including open gym options and anytime I've checked their programming it's balanced and thoughtful.

I also have a soft spot for women owned small businesses. A year later, now that I'm a local, I'm giving it a second chance. No, it isn't F45. Not close. But it does the trick. The owner is lovely and tries hard to keep stubborn clients that know it all safe and enjoying a good workout. I can't see the women in the Cape Cod area. Don't frighten me - some do! You can't guide them if they're doing something that could hurt them because these women know it all and want to do it their way. But the trainers here know how to keep them safe! (despite their hardest intentions to kill themselves, because some of them really wanna show that they are fit! really!)

As a long time member, Fitness 500 periodically has staffing issues when the employee that opens up…read morethe gym at 5:00 am or 6:00 am (weekend) does not show up. This leaves a dozen+ members waiting in the parking lot guessing when the doors will open or if they should go home. And honestly, things happen it's about how a business handles them that tells the story. That is where this review starts... For the 2nd time this month the person opening the gym no showed. Instead of Fitness 500 using this as an opportunity to go above and beyond or wow members they instead get defensive, testy, and full of excuses. The manager, 'L' may be a fine personal trainer but needs to spend more time learning how to speak to the public when such situations arise (this coming from a career executive who cringes when I read 'L's' emails other members share with me). Heaven forbid Fitness 500 would credit dedicated early morning members, but a simple stand at the door the next morning and proactively apologize would go a long way. Send an email, facebook post, or do something PROACTIVELY to acknowledge the frustration instead of waiting on members to contact you upset. Imagine if you wrote an email to Fitness 500 with your frustration and the next time you came in they said grab a drink from the cooler 'on us' for your trouble. THAT is customer service. THAT is wowing your customers, THAT is something memorable that members share with other members instead of people pissed off talking trash to one another about how poor Fitness 500 customer service is. And lastly.. when the owner gets involved, STOP yelling at members. Multiple members have shared this. We WANT Fitness 500 to be successful. WE WANT to have a fun gym community. Fitness 500 has every opportunity to come out shining in a unfortunate situation that seems to be reoccurring. But fails to do so each time and instead puts down members encouraging them to cancel. Nice!

Instead, one of the employees was walking around the lobby with a bubble machine, blowing bubbles into the entrance, which felt unprofessional. The workout floor was equally frustrating. Several people were sitting on machines for long periods without actually using them, while others occupied benches and equipment scrolling on their phones. The recent relocation of the yellow machines into the main workout area has made the floor feel crowded and difficult to navigate. There isn't enough space to move comfortably between machines, especially during busy hours. On top of that, large groups of high school students were congregating around equipment, making it even harder to complete a workout without waiting or weaving around groups of people. Fortunately, I have a Black Card membership, so I can use the Hyannis, Wareham, and New Bedford locations, which are consistently cleaner, better organized, and much easier to work out in. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location. Until the layout, cleanliness, and overall management improve, I'd choose one of the nearby Planet Fitness locations instead.
