This week, Marsha sent my sister an email stating that she was cancelling my sister's reservation for another wedding of 350 guests. Apparently someone is being deployed, and my sister's date was the only one that worked. I'm sorry, WHAT? The entire point of putting a deposit down on a date is so that someone else cannot book it out from under you. Not only that, but the least she could have done was called my sister instead of leaving it up to email. What if it had gone to spam? Additionally, she should have called around to other caterers to see who was available on that date, and then referred my sister to them (instead of making my sister scramble to find someone else). If I'm being REALLY honest, Marsha should have referred this other party to another caterer, but this one was going to make her more money than my sister's, so screw the smaller wedding, right? Unless you like to play things fast and loose when it comes to wedding planning, book a different caterer. She's clearly only driven by bigger paydays and will leave you high and dry at the drop of the hat.

But these are not ordinary burgers. They are savory handcrafted awesomeness of burgers, the creative design of the owner and Executive Chef Brandon, and his partner owner Jacob. Both have worked hard to bring us an amazing menu of very creative burgers to be enjoyed in a comfortable and historic environment inside the City Market Building. The success of any restaurant business is the result of the hard work and love that the owners have put into it. In this restaurant, I could tell just be seeing the very nice graphic designed menu, reading the wonderful variety of menu items, ordering one out of the many I liked, and seeing the work of art and tasting its final flavor. No words could ever do justice to the quality of the food served at this restaurant. A picture is worth a thousand words, and by looking at the pictures I took can get a better idea of what I'm talking about here. I decided to go and try this new restaurant out during the Roanoke Restaurant Week 2024 for lunch. I ordered the I'm So Bleu Burger with Fries and a bottle of water to drink. A friendly lady took down the order and had me sit down. I sat down at one of the tables located inside of the City Market building. It is a relaxed and comfortable environment where one can enjoy the dining experience. They brought my order to my table and it came in an aluminum tray. The bread was soft and fresh, as well as all of the ingredients written about on the menu were clearly there. With restaurants of this quality menu is that the City Market Building will attract people to the building and help it flourish. I totally recommend this restaurant to all those who live nearby or who are in the area visiting. I can assure you won't be disappointed and you will use eating here as an excuse to come again to Downtown Roanoke. I can say this restaurant has become one of my favorites and I look forward to returning to try a new item of the menu every time!

My guests raved about the food at the wedding. We had fried pimento cheese puffs and spinach and artichoke dip, Tuscan flank steak, mushroom risotto, chicken Marsala, vegetable stir fry, and rainbow trout almandine. Pumpernickel made sure everything ran well and even got to go boxes ready for me and my new husband. Even though we ate some at the wedding, everything was so busy we ended up starving later and really appreciated that touch. I highly recommend them.

Until one day, looking for a new Puertorican Restaurant named "Delicias Boricuas," I had a reason to go inside. And I'm so glad I did. When one walks in, one is greeted by a very friendly young man who is seated at a desk and who is in charge of taking care of you if you need to buy any of the arts and crafts items displayed in any of the booths inside. Then, the first store there is the Little Green Hive which is a Coffee, bakery, and sandwich shop. There is also the Puertorican Restaurant which is literally a hole in the wall where one orders their food and then goes to sit on marble tables and chairs that are all around to enjoy their food.Besides these two restaurants, there are a couple of beauty salons, and a vinyl record shop. As one walks around looking at all the beautiful arts and crafts displayed, there is music playing in the background. I would definitely recommend to those visting Downtown Roanoke to come by this place. Who knows you might discover a new place to hangout with family or friends and enjoy some coffee, shop for that special one of a kind gift, or discover the delicious flavor of the Puertorican Cuisine.

I was also tempted to buy one of the absolutely gorgeous wooden charcuterie boards -- and, would have, had we not been walking. I did, however, take the craftsman's business card! Sadly, most everything has gotten much worse in the past couple of years. I don't know why. Now there seems to be a problem every time I need a refill. The staff doesn't seem to communicate well with each other; I'll be texted something is out of stock and then be told it was filled the previous day. On one occasion I tried to refill my contact lens solution. It took two months of confusing back-and-forth of texts! They haven't been sending out meds when promised or send the wrong thing. They have been EXTRAORDINARILY patient with me and my AR balance; I'm low income and appreciated that. However they didn't give me an early warning about how high it had gotten, and then they confronted me about it in front of my mother with no regard to privacy. The man there (manager ?) has offered several times to go back through the charges and see if any can be reduced, but he hasn't yet. I would have changed pharmacies by now, except I'm moving soon so it's not worth it. I don't doubt that the staff and mgmt here cares about their patients and want to do right by them. I imagine things are falling apart on a communications level. No one has the time to follow up multiple times on every prescription , though, and their best intentions are clearly being drowned out by serious communication fails.
