I find the prices of…read morewines and ciders and beers to be less expensive in these BC stores than those at private, more specialty liquor/wine stores, in general (even though the BC stores may not have specialty vintages. But hey, I'm not a wine connoisseur so what do I care? lol). This particular BC Liquor store is a decent place to get alcohol. It's a mid-size store (i.e., half the other BC Liquor stores I've been to are larger, and half are smaller. This one is perfectly "medium" sized), and it usually has whatever alcoholic beverages I'm shopping for at the moment. This store is conveniently located on Cambie, across from Whole Foods, Canada Tire, Home Depot and Save-On Foods, and there's a huge London Drugs around the corner on Broadway. So... it really is in the middle of a prime shopping area. What is most notable about this BC Liquor store is that there is FREE underground parking available, only for customers of this store. I've not seen this feature at any other BC Liquor store, and boy, on a rainy day, this feature is SUPER nice. I have had good luck with the customer service in this store, too. When I've asked staff for wine recommendations, they have never steered me wrong. This site may not have all the bells and whistles that the larger stores do, but for my purposes (and, I'd guess, for most people), they have WAY more than enough.

This location has been around for decades and therefore looks super dated from the outside. The interior has been modernized to match the other locations though. I left with a warm pack of beer and eyes full of tears.

We are all 21+, but just didn't carry around a passport while out and about for safety reasons. Just a misunderstanding and we were totally okay with coming back with proper ID, but the woman was quite rude when telling us this information initially. She practically yelled from the register while we were shopping. When we tried to ask clarifying questions she immediately dismissed us and kept yelling that we need two forms of ID. There was a group of 6 of us and some of us had decided to stay back while 2 of us went to the store with 2 forms of ID. When they were trying to check out with another employee, the same woman came out and started yelling that since all 6 of us hadn't come back with 2 forms of ID, she wouldn't serve my friends at all. I don't understand what we did to make her so mad because it was truly a misunderstanding about the ID but she was so mean to us and it was overall such an unpleasant experience.

Well, I could think of nothing better to go with his wonderful clam chowder than a nice, yet inexpensive bottle of white wine. The white wines were only $8.99 and the red wine was only $9.99 (with one dollar off making it $8.99). So, I got a bottle of white FortyNine North and a red FortyNine North. So far, we have only drank the white. It was a good wine with a floral note. The red is suppose to have a berry and spice flavor. We will see soon. =) And as always,.. Have Fun!!!

Upon first impressions, this is a small boutique sized wine store (we are in South Granville after all) that tries. A few bottles of each brand, and looks like a good mix of mid-priced to higher priced bottles. Appreciated the fridges lined with white wine. I imagine it serves as a good last minute "grab and go." I had a few minutes to browse before I was asked if I needed help. They didn't have the bottle I was seeking but the guy spent at least 5 to 10 minutes going over some other wines he recommended, taking my budget into account and asking other questions (i.e. was I looking for a specific varietal, region, etc.) He mentioned I could bring the bottle back if we were unsatisfied with the wine but I didn't ask how that would work... I would feel sheepish to bring back an opened bottle of wine. In the end I took a bottle that was recommended, within my budget, and though I had never heard of this winery before, turned out to be a great hit at dinner. Thanks!
