Bee Tutored played a big…read morepart in the academic success of my girls, as neither my wife nor I were expert enough in mathematics and science to guide them through challenging patches. Over six or seven years, we've used an equal number of tutors. Owner Kate Pritchard was extremely responsive and did a good job matching my daughters' challenges with a tutor (usually college aged or recently graduated from college) who had absolute mastery of the subject. Only on one occasion did we ask for a rematch. Bee Tutored sent over a replacement tutor the following week -- and we continue to use him 16 months later for my daughter, a senior at Brooklyn Tech. We credit the work of Bee Tutored during middle school, along with SHSAT prep classes, with helping my youngest gain admission to one of the specialized high schools, Brooklyn Tech. Had the Bee Tutored tutoring center opened several years ago, we would have availed ourselves to their SAT and ACT college test prep, which our girls took at Kaplan. They found Kaplan sterile and uninspiring, not to mention disorganized. Test grades were often not posted on time and classes were canceled without advance notice. My oldest daughter saw no improvement in her score from PSAT to SAT, even after taking the Kaplan course twice. Bee Tutored is the antithesis of for-profit, corporate tutoring mills like Huntington, Sylvan, Kaplan and Princeton Review. Anytime I have wanted to speak with the owner, Kate, I reached her via email and phone. She takes pride in her business and the success of kids receiving tutoring from Bee Tutored. As a longtime customer of the business, I attended the open house for the new tutoring center and met the Scratch computer programming tutor and the SHSAT prep tutor. They were just like the young adults that have mentored my kids over the years -- bright, warm and eager to teach. I recommend Bee Tutored to any parent who doesn't have the time and/or skills to help his or her kid with homework and test prep. They've come through for me over many years and I have two smart, confident daughters to show for it.

My son was close but not quite up to the level he needed to be to get an offer from any of the specialized schools. He was burned out, and the uncertainty about whether, when, and how the SHSAT would be administered didn't help. It wasn't until mid-January, a little more than two weeks before the test, that my son regained enough enthusiasm to refocus. I got in contact with Ed, and he very quickly set up a short series of private sessions for my son with Adnan. I had my doubts about how much could be accomplished in just a few sessions, but these were put to rest in the first 10 minutes working with Adnan -- it was clear that he had the expertise to quickly assess my son's strengths and weaknesses and make very productive use of the limited time available. After four sessions my son felt a lot more comfortable with material he had been struggling with and confident about his prospects. I was very pleased and highly recommend Antoine Education. (While the test results would not have impacted my review, I decided to wait until the receiving them in hopes of having a better story to tell. We got good news from DOE this past week, and I have no doubt that Adnan's tutoring gave my son the boost he needed.)

She struggled with math since middle school. We tried private tutoring as well as another nearby tutoring center, neither did very much for her. I thought that was the norm and she just needed time to catch up...rebuild the foundation. But I was worried for her. She was struggling and losing her confidence. She thought she was dumb. That's changed since FPL. Even after her first session. She couldn't believe how patient and kind her tutor was. He didn't give her face or sigh when she didn't understand. He told her it's OK and explained it in different ways until she understood. He even went pass the hour to help her on several occasions. Her views towards math has changed. She's even helping her classmates with math now. The tutors also helped her prepare for any upcoming exams. FPL has changed my daughters life. This may sound too good to be true, but it's the honest truth. She's not getting straight A's but she's no longer carrying a heavy load on her shoulder.

Edward Song (founder of Five Points Learning) and his team bring wealth of knowledge to prepare students for the SHSAT. My daughter did not place a seat in a specialized high school. However, the improvements my daughter has made (especially in math) due to this program is nothing short of a success. My daughter has always leaned towards humanities as she enjoys reading and writing. Edward has empowered her in math, which boosted her confidence. The weekly workload was intense, but soon she started seeing improvement in her school math grades. This was the defining moment, which fueled her to see this through. In addition, her 2018 NY State Test scores were improved. She was both elated and saddened to complete the program in Oct 2017. Thank you to Edward, Noah & Alex!

Less than a week later my family and I had to leave the USA due to personal circumstances caused by COVID-19. We permanently left the neighborhood where we were residing and departed to another continent. Roughly one month after making the deposit payment and more than 5 months before the school year started I requested a refund of my son's 2020/2021 school year deposit. After various email exchanges with the school owner, I requested a personal phone call. The call was avoided and the situation was addressed by the school's lawyer. To my surprise, given the global hardship felt by families around the world the school stated that the deposit will not be refunded. In fact, their legal team stated that the only compensation I will receive is the transaction costs charged when they received the deposit payment - how absurd. Like most families, we have a set amount of finances allocated for our son's education per year. Due to this unfortunate loss and lack of sympathy from the school, we will not be able to enroll our child in any school for the 2020/2021 school. I have committed to the full annual payment of our child's 2019/2020 school fees and understand that the school needs these funds to pay employees and running costs. However, it is incomprehensible that the school is reluctant to refund even a small portion of the deposit paid. This is deeply disappointing and I truly hope our child is the only one who will be affected by the school's actions.

I can only speak about Daisy, my son's instructor. I believe she also manages this location. She is a wonderful instructor who clearly cares about the kids and empathizes with parents about this whole ordeal. Given her experience, she is also very knowledgeable about the exam and G&T process in general. She was very pleasant to deal with. I won't bore you with the details of the curriculum as you can find that out for yourself through Fast Track. The best thing I can say is that my son enjoyed the class and the "homework." Daisy made learning fun for him and the other kids, and that's important. It's also very structured and I liked that hw really was minimal. My son had enough stuff going on besides G&T prep, and he was only 4 years old! To summarize, Daisy did a great job preparing my son, and the results prove it. I recommend this location, this course, and Daisy.
